Relax and rejuvinate in our 24 foot diameter yurt, overlooking the Carmel River and Big Sur Land Trust Songbird Sanctuary. The sounds of the river, the birds and the rustling trees will lull you to sleep after a soak under the stars in your private hot tub. We call it "glamping" - glamorous camping. This unique getaway is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast and for active folks who won't mind a 100 FOOT STROLL TO THE MAIN HOUSE TO USE THE SHOWER AND RESTROOM.
We are conveniently located less than 5 miles East of Hwy 1 and close to just about everything on the Monterey Peninsula: 10 minutes to Carmel-by-the-Sea, 20 minutes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, 10 minutes to Carmel Valley Village, 20 minutes to Laguna Seca and Fort Ord National Monument, and 35 minutes to Big Sur- a logistical dream. There is also a public bus stop at the top of our driveway! As a bonus, if you are staying in the yurt for 2 or more nights we offer 2 free passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium- a $70 value.

Nice people, great yurt!
Really good setting living in a yurt is a great experience the bus stops at property very good people enjoy the nature
I brought my boyfriend to the Yurt for his birthday! Neither one of us had ever stayed in a Yurt. When we reached Carmel, we went to the Point Lobos State reserve to hike, just about 5 miles from the Yurt. We arrived at Pete & Peg's Yurt about 3pm. I couldn't believe how amazing it was. It felt like home when we walked in. They thought of everything including ear plugs & an eye mask in each of the night stands.
There is a DVD player, a refrigerator, a microwave, internet access, extra blankets, a gas burning stove, a big comfy bed....
Everything you could want! Did I mention the hot tub on the deck that is ready to use?
They also have a sweet dog that will come up to you wagging her tail.
This is an experience we will never forget. Great restaurants near by, stars at night, peaceful, lovely, time her.
Unusual and pleasant experience staying in a yurt in Carmel. Very nice hosts who are well-organized, thoughtful and helpful. Room very clean, plenty of towels, everything you need for a great stay. Hot tub is fun. Bathroom and shower are in the main house & tht was not a problem for us tho for some it might be an issue. They do have a dedicated bathroom in the house just for the yurt that is just steps inside the door and it is also very clean and well-stocked. There is no cable tv in the yurt, tho there is wifi. I did not use the projection tv for movies, but they have tons of DVDs available for free. There is coffee in the am, but if you need espresso or something strong like that you should go into town where there are tons of great coffee shops (tho many of them are hidden in little courtyards but worth finding.) Overall, a great place to stay.
This place was so relaxing. just outside of the main part of town sort of, soo quiet except for the birds and frogs. they brought us out coffee and tea and biscottie for breakfast. there is heated beds and a small space heater, we used them both but at 5 am i had to turn it down, it takes a while to warm up but once its warm it stays that way for a while. the hottub under the stars a fantastic way to end the day
We had a wonderful experience staying at Pete and Peg's yurt in the heart of Carmel Valley. Their yurt has all the conveniences (and luxuries!) to ensure a comfortable stay: a hot tub, fireplace, 2 beds, even a movie projector. You can select from a range of DVDs that they keep there. Pete was extremely friendly, and recommended a really nice restaurant to celebrate my friend's birthday. I also lost a key, and he was really friendly about it and told us where to find a replacement key.., I would highly recommend staying in this beautiful yurt!
My two friends and I stayed here for my birthday and it could not have been better! The Yurt was so great, amazing fireplace, heated beds, jacuzzi, and we had more than enough of everything we needed! I would highly recommend staying here and would love to stop by again! Pete and Peg were oh so sweet!
Staying at Pete & Peg's yurt was fantastic! They are located at the end of their road so their place is quiet and private, albeit somewhat tricky to find in the dark at first! But Peg sent us extra directions and we found our way just fine. They were wonderful hosts and even brought us movies from their movie store to watch on the projector in the home theater system in the yurt! The hot tub was great and they even brought us coffee and tea to the yurt doorstep in the morning. Going to the house to use the restroom was no big deal at all and we had our own bathroom just inside on the first floor. Pete and Peg were so nice and helpful in recommending places to eat and things to do. I just wish we had more time to stay with them and explore the area. I would certainly recommend them to anyone considering staying in the Carmel Valley.
This place was amazing! The location is great, both close to great restaurants in downtown Carmel and far enough from everything that you get a truly relaxing nature experience. The yurt itself is beautiful and comfortable. PERFECT for a calm night in the jacuzzi followed by a good movie. Pete and Peg are nice, accessible, and really just overall incredibly hospitable. And the songbird refuge is no joke, in the morning the yurt was surrounded by dozens of beautiful little songbirds. Overall wonderful experience!
Pete and Peg are wonderful hosts. I made the reservation as a surprise gift for my boyfriend and I so we would have a place to stay that was close to Esalen. I was hoping to make it to the hot springs during their public hours, but unfortunately they were booked up. In lieu of the trip down to Esalen, Pete and Peg made some wonderful suggestions for places to see and eat. We had a wonderful time. The space is clean, warm, and absolutely gorgeous! I rarely write reviews of anything, anywhere, but I had to sing their praises.
