Relax and rejuvinate in our 24 foot diameter yurt, overlooking the Carmel River and Big Sur Land Trust Songbird Sanctuary. The sounds of the river, the birds and the rustling trees will lull you to sleep after a soak under the stars in your private hot tub. We call it "glamping" - glamorous camping. This unique getaway is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast and for active folks who won't mind a 100 FOOT STROLL TO THE MAIN HOUSE TO USE THE SHOWER AND RESTROOM.

Peg and Pete were absolutely wonderful and we couldn't have enjoyed our stay more! The directions they provided led us straight there with no trouble. We got in from LA a little later than expected but Peg said she would be up and was so cheery and lovely to us when we arrived (at 11:30 pm) and showed us everything we needed to know for our stay. The yurt is absolutely adorable, we felt right at home. We loved spending one of our nights relaxing under the stars in the jacuzzi too! And the coffee and biscotti they provided in the morning was the perfect start to our day! I am already planning on staying again sometime in the near future. Thank you so much Pete and Peggy for providing the perfect weekend getaway!
Staying at the Carmel River yurt is such a unique and and lovely experience. The yurt is beautiful, the property is lush and interesting, the hot tub is very luxurious at nighttime under the stars. We traveled with our 10 month old who seemed to enjoy exploring the space as much as we did! Highly recommend!
Delightful stay -yurt was very clean and like new, garden beautiful, and Peg and Pete so friendly and accomodating. Have recommended t friends and will definitely return
What a wonderful, relaxing trip! From the coffee and tea on the patio in the morning to a warm, pillow-topped bed at night, we had a fabulous time and can't wait to come back. Thank you, Pete and Peggy!
Couldn't have imagined a better place for a weekend getaway. Pete was incredibly welcoming and gave us some great suggestions for dinner and drinks in the Carmel area. We met Peg briefly and she was equally as lovely. Everything was as pictured on the site - super clean and everything you could need!
We LOVED our stay at Pete and Peg's yurt. It was a great home base for our Big Sur exploring, an excellent entry into the yurt experience, and the hosts are so thoughtful and inviting. The hot tub was very nice and the movies on the projector were so fun!I most definitely recommend staying here and have been telling everyone I know about what a great place and experience this was. I was a little nervous beforehand about how comfortably it would work out using the main house for shower, etc., but the hosts make it very easy to come and go and it ended up no big deal at all. The heat stove worked very well, but bring a warm sweater for the fresh, crisp mornings until it kicks in. Beautiful mornings!
All of the other ratings are pretty spot on. Peggy and Pete are wonderful hosts. The yurt is a once in a lifetime experience surrounded by mountains and so close to Big Sur! I will definitely be coming back.
My wife, Peggy, and I have lived on this property since 1984 and have never fallen out of love with it. It is the perfect combination of a rural setting yet only 10 minutes away from town. We are outdoor enthusiasts and have many wonderful family memories of not only camping by the river but of backcountry excursions as well. It was on one of these adventures, in Oregon to be exact, that Peg and our two daughters discovered yurts. They rented one at an Oregon State campground and truly loved the experience. Having a yurt on our property has added even more of a sense of serenity and peace to our home. It is with this in mind that we want to share it with others. There's something uniquely appealing and comforting, a feeling of being embraced by the round space and the abundance of natural light that
lends itself to living close to nature. We welcome you to give it a try.
