We had a lovely experience at the Songbird Yurt - our hosts were delightful and welcoming. Their recommendations were fantastic! We love yurts :)
What a wonderful place to stay! Peg and Pete know how to make their guests feel at home. We loved staying there (1 night was way too short, should've stayed more) and enjoyed the yurt, the hot tub, the garden, the weather, and Peg and Pete's attention. Merci !
Me and my friends loved staying with Pete and Peggy, they were incredibly hosts, so kind and welcoming! We could tell how much Pete and Peggy truly care for their guests and want to make sure their guests have the best experience possible. Pete and Peggy's yurt was as wonderful as it looks, so special and a perfect place for us to come back to after our day excursions in Big Sur. If you are looking to stay in the Big Sur area, without a doubt, stay with Pete and Peggy!
Pete & Peg were amazing hosts. Every review that you read is true- they go above and beyond to make this your best experience ever. It was my husband and my 1 year anniversary and they had champagne and chilled glasses waiting for us. In addition, there was a storm one night and they offered for us to stay inside their house because they knew it would be loud in the yurt.
The yurt itself is better than anything I could imagine. They really have thought of every detail. I honestly can't recommend Pete & Peg, as well as their property enough.
Thank you so much for making this such a memorable getaway for us. We hope to stay again in the near future!
We had such a wonderful time at the Songbird Retreat! When we walked into the yurt it took our breathe away! What a fun, new, unique way to spend the last days of our vacation. We had never stayed in anything like it and the kids had a blast. We played games on the beautiful lawn, watched movies on the big screen at night, enjoyed pizza and DVD's from down the street, (shops are close by), jacuzzi by starlight, snoozing in the hammock, it was just a very peaceful place. We want to come back!! Peg and Pete are such great people, we want to adopt them! They have created a great sanctuary. Many thanks to them for sharing it!!
I had the most experiential and memorable vacation in Carmel River Yurt-Songbird Refuge. Pete and Peg were both awesome hosts and they make us feel so at home. Everything was more than what we expected and it has way exceeded my expectations. The yurt was clean, comfortable and very well furnished. We enjoyed the hot tub and the greenery very much, a relaxing holiday for us. I can't wait to visit again! :)
We only stayed for one night en route to Yosemite but wish we could've stayed longer. Firstly we had no idea how beautiful Carmel is, secondly the Yurt was fantastically comfortable, and thirdly the hosts were so welcoming and helpful. There was plenty of advice on the local area, pleasant conversation and just generally warm vibes. The hammock, jacuzzi, and movie projection screen in the Yurt were total bonuses too! Carmel as a town has fantastic restaurants and the beaches are gorgeous. Very highly recommend this listing!
About the Host, Pete
My wife, Peggy, and I have lived on this property since 1984 and have never fallen out of love with it. It is the perfect combination of a rural setting yet only 10 minutes away from town. We are outdoor enthusiasts and have many wonderful family memories of not only camping by the river but of backcountry excursions as well. It was on one of these adventures, in Oregon to be exact, that Peg and our two daughters discovered yurts. They rented one at an Oregon State campground and truly loved the experience. Having a yurt on our property has added even more of a sense of serenity and peace to our home. It is with this in mind that we want to share it with others. There's something uniquely appealing and comforting, a feeling of being embraced by the round space and the abundance of natural light that
lends itself to living close to nature. We welcome you to give it a try.
