About this listing
This house was our dream for many years. It took forever to find it - just the perfect spot - in the countryside and totally private, with the most awesome view you can imagine: Oaks and olive groves interrupt rows of grape vines meandering down the hillside to the lake shore. Centuries old farmhouses glow red in the early morning light... I'll stop now, Just check out the pictures and you will see what I mean.
The house is above the medieval town of Bolsena, just where the regions of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio meet. The area is known to locals as Tuscia, after the ancient Etruscans who populated the area before the Romans.
The house has a master bedroom with a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom, a large kitchen / living room, which opens out onto the terrace and garden, a bedroom with twin beds, a main bathroom with bathtub and a lounge with fireplace.
The house is a 5 minute drive to Bolsena town, which is rich in history, pageantry and, of course, food. There is pretty much everything you need in the town. The lake is also 5 minutes by car and you can windsurf, sail, waterski and swim. If you are more of a cultural bent, you can explore the literally hundreds of cultural sites, from roman and etruscan ruins to medieval hilltop towns and fortresses.
A local cat has made the property her own and has pretty much taken up residence in the outside areas. She knows she is not allowed into the house and is grateful to anyone who feeds her leftovers but is also used to toughing it out alone in the countryside. We will often leave some tins in the house or biscuits.
Wonderful house, amazing view over the Bolsena Lake, very private and peaceful location. We had a perfect stay at Casa Poiana.
Milena, the house manager, who welcomed us was very nice. We didn't saw Sean but he was always available when we had questions.
The official wild cat of the house is so sweet, we were even sad to leave her...
Fantastic place for nature lovers!
No exaggeration at all in Sean's description of the house. It truly is a beautiful house (larger than expected) with a splendid view.
Very warm welcome from house manager Teresa. Although we did not meet Sean he made sure everything went smoothly.
Ideal for young children as well. Garden mostly fenced, bungalow, plenty of toys etc.
Altogether fantastic holiday place.
Absolutely fantastic location. Very private and breathtaking views over the Bolsena Lake.
The house is splendid, well equipped and has great outdoor spaces facing the lake.
We will definitely recommended this house to others.
This is really a wonderful house. Maria and Sean as well as their house manager Teresa are the best hosts you can imagine. The welcome warm and familiar. The equipment of the house is perfect. We felt as guests in a very personal and nice surrounding. You find everything you need for a terrific vacation. Please ask for the condition of the road before you go there. If Sean would be responsible for it, there would not be the lightest difficulty. I would like to take the house and move it a little closer to where we live and spend all my vacations there. The area is very interesting, you get perfect advices for all the activities you like. We will definitely come back. Thank you so much.
