The bathroom has a tub with shower. Enjoy natural EO brand soap, shampoo and conditioner, towels and a hair dryer.
It's a great place to stay for business travelers, visiting family for graduation or holidays, and people traveling for the Fancy Food Show / Good Food Awards, Dreamforce etc.
The second bedroom is cozy and funky, with a wonderful brand new carpet, very bright, with a southwest facing, unobstructed view of the sky from one window (despite that it's the flat lands!) The queen sized American Leather sofabed is topped with a comfortable 5-star hotel-quality mattress pad.
I strive to provide a great value for a lovely home-like experience with nice space, GREAT location and amenities to simplify and enhance vacation or business travel.
Super cozy - many people who stay here say they don't want to leave.
The entire upstairs is yours to use with a private entrance separating us. There's a keypad to enter, so no hassles with keys.
Interaction with Guests
Meeting guests is a real thrill in my life. Several have become friends! The guests who have most enjoyed staying here are like me - food obsessed, curious, and into culture and travel. We might love to meet in some other walk of life; it is just synchronicity that Airbnb led you to my listing.
Most of all you are respectful of the space, the house rules and our relationship.
As an avid world traveler, I know how memorable and wonderful great hospitality can be. I also understand that you may just want a nice place to stay without socializing. Whatever makes you happy!
I love saying hello, pointing out all the area highlights that may fit with your time and interests, and making sure you are comfortable. I call myself a food concierge, and it's my delight to share our bounty (and can arrange to give you classes and / or a private insider tour to local food artisans and coffee roasters as well!)
I am there to help carry luggage and make sure you have a great experience.
An area filled with California Bungalows and beautiful trees, we are surrounded by amazing cafes - walk to Blue Bottle Coffee, morning pastries at Pizzaiolo (named best pizza in California by Thrillest), Philz coffee, supermarkets, or other bakeries as well as a great farmers market.
Stroll down tree-lined College Ave past cute shops, Trader Joe's, Zachary's Pizza, Ramen Shop, Jeremy's clothing, bookstores, yoga studios and restaurants all the way to the UC Campus, CCA or to Rockridge BART.
You're very close to UC Berkeley (30 min walk to campus), and my place has become a great landing spot for parents bringing kids to CCA and UC Berkeley, those visiting family in the area, and folks wanting to discover our beautiful and friendly Oakland neighborhood.
You can drive and easily park, unlimited. You can walk, bus or BART. Your choice!
Other Things to Note
RE CANCELLATION POLICY: If you're cancelling due to an emergency, I am more flexible. The "strict" policy applies more reservations during peak seasons when it is a bigger deal if a cancellation happens due to non-emergency plan changes. I know stuff happens so am open to chatting when your plans change.
SAFETY IS #1. This is a home so you'll have code-compliant fire and carbon monoxide detectors, a fire extinguisher, flashlights, emergency information, and all the other little things that are important to have "just in case."
USE OF WASHER / DRYER: Due to the drought, guests may use the in-unit washer / dryer 2x per 7 days. An extra charge of $5 per load applies after that...hopefully 2x per week is plenty. :)
Welcome to the extension of my home! :) The #1 rule is to take care of the house as if it were your own. Please tell me if anything's gone wrong or you need anything while you're there so I can try to make your stay absolutely perfect.
WHEN YOU STAY...
Breakfast snacks are provided for the first day, or so.
Visitors: please ask before having people over, other than quick visits and never share the door code.
Cleaning: The low cleaning fee reflects the agreement that you'll tidy up and do the dishes before embarking.
Pets: Not allowed although under special circumstances dogs may be allowed, with an extra deposit and cleaning fee. Can't have cats due to allergies. :$
If possible please bring slippers or soft shoes to wear inside (as I'm below) :)
PEACE: After a few experiences, I realized it would help to have the following rules:
* No loud music, gatherings, parties...with quiet time after 10pm.
* Client meetings / visits are not allowed, as this is not zoned as a business area and the noise travels.
* No music or loud activity outside or in street.
* No tumbling or other gymnastic feats...unless I'm not at home (in the lower unit) and no one's getting hurt. :)
Thanks!! Let me know any questions.
Here's a view from the kitchen as you make your morning coffee or tea, looking through the dining room into the living room where you can sit on the famous orange leather couch and watch the sun rise (or watch cable TV)
