Tons of light all day, quiet while just a minute from the freeway, and filled with fun colorful arts and antiques.
You'll enjoy a spacious 1200 square feet of your own private space with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom (with a tub / shower), a dining room, a living room, and a laundry room with new eco-friendly washer and dryer.
The full kitchen has appliances and supplies including a gas stove, coffee machine, electric espresso machine, refrigerator, blender, toaster, cork screw, plates, glasses, silverware, professional knives, basic spices, cutting boards ... and if you need anything else let me know.
The bathroom has a tub with shower. Enjoy natural EO brand soap, shampoo and conditioner, towels and a hair dryer. There's a toilet too! And toilet paper. :)
The second bedroom is cozy and funky - a former porch - very bright, with a southwest facing, unobstructed view of the sky from one window (despite that it's the flat lands!)
I strive to provide a great value for a lovely home-like experience with nice space, GREAT location and amenities to simplify and enhance your travel.
The entire upper flat is yours to use with a completely separate, private entrance. There's a keypad to enter so no hassles with keys.
I love saying hello, pointing out all the area highlights that may fit with your time and interests, and making sure you are comfortable. I call myself a food concierge, and it's my delight to share our bounty (and can arrange to give you a private insider tour to local food artisans as well!)
As an avid world traveler, I know how memorable and wonderful great hospitality can be! I also understand that you may just want a nice place to stay without socializing. Whatever makes you happy!
Would love to host people coming to the Specialty Food Fancy Food Show or other food / wine / tech conferences.
An area filled with California Bungalows and beautiful trees, we are surrounded by amazing cafes - walk to the new Blue Bottle Coffee on Broadway, morning pastries at Pizzaiolo (named best pizza in California by Thrillest), Bittersweet Cafe, or the many other bakeries as well as a great farmers market.
Stroll down tree-lined College Ave past cute shops, Trader Joe's, Zachary's Pizza, Ramen Shop, Jeremy's, bookstores, yoga studios and restaurants all the way to the UC Campus.
You're very close to Berkeley (30 min walk to campus), and my place has become a great landing spot for parents bringing kids to CCA and UC Berkeley, those visiting grandkids in the area, and folks wanting to discover our luscious and friendly Oakland community.
You can walk or bike -- and a guy's mountain bike and helmet is available for use. You can drive and easily park, unlimited. You can bus. You can BART. Your choice!
Great for sewers / crafters too, with an optional sewing machine (website hidden) CANCELLATION POLICY: If you're cancelling due to an emergency, I am more flexible. The "strict" policy applies more reservations during peak seasons when it is a bigger deal if a cancellation happens due to non-emergency plan changes. I know stuff happens so am open to chatting when your plans change.
IT'S HEAVENLY...Many people who stay here say they don't want to leave. It's a nice quiet place for focusing on writing, development, reading etc.
SAFETY IS #1. This is a home so you'll have code-compliant fire and carbon monoxide detectors, a fire extinguisher, flashlights, emergency information, and all the other little things that are important to have "just in case."
Please note there's 1 queen bed and 1 queen pull out sofabed. Other beds are floor futon style mattresses.
Breakfast snacks are provided for the first day, and you'll be sure to find some sort of local foodie surprise.
Cleaning: The low cleaning fee reflects the agreement that you'll tidy up and do the dishes before embarking.
PEACE: After experiences with guests, I realized I needed the following rules: No loud music, gatherings, parties...with quiet time after 10pm. Client meetings / visits are not allowed, as this is not zoned as a business area. No parties of any kind in or at the home, unless previously agreed upon. No music or loud activity is allowed outside or in street. Disturbing the peace or disturbance of neighbors or any illicit activity is a violation of local ordinance and could result in terminating the rental without a refund (this has never happened as y'all tend to be cool folks).
A few more guidelines will be provided upon acceptance. Basically will need to agree to take care of the house as if it were your own as I live here (when it is not rented) so the contents are important.
I hope you'll tell me if anything's gone wrong or you need anything while you're there so I can try to make your stay perfect! HONEST COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING.
Thanks!! Let me know any questions.
Susie was a very welcoming guest and her apartment was very comfortable and well stocked for our stay. My wife and 2 year old son spent a weekend in her private upstairs apartment and loved the neighborhood and how convenient it was and all the cafes and restaurants that were an easy walk. The house was very comfortable and had a homey feel to it, so much better than being in a hotel. I appreciated reading all the recommendations and tips for the neighborhood left by Susie. Also the keyless entry is a great idea, no keys to worry about and plenty safe.
Susie & her place was so wonderful! She gave great notes on the place, the surrounding area, and great things to do, her home was cozy and clean and had everything ready, and her house was in such a great location in Oakland! I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy home in the Temescal/Rockridge area of Oakland, within walking distance to some wonderful shops and restaurants.
Thank you Susie!
Great apartment in a wonderful neighborhood in Oakland. Susie is super easy to work with and had the kitchen stocked on our arrival.
There was some miscommunication on setting up this reservation as I am new to airbnb and when I set it up, I set it up as only 1 person coming and Susie thought I would be coming alone. Although in our correspondences I mentioned how excited I was that my husband and I and two children would be visiting from Brooklyn on Spring Break. It is a ritual. We come every year! Susie was concerned about the children's safety in the home. I assured her that I was a very hands on mom and they were very urban. We live in a very industrial townhouse with an open staircase. We were able to work things out and Susie was very accommodating! The house was clean, bright and perfect for our family. The beds were comfy and the two rooms were very private. She was so thoughtful in the food that she provided on arrival. The location could not have been better and the parking was fantastic. I did not want to leave Oakland this trip! Getting in and out of the house was super easy and her packet of info was detailed in away that we did not need to bother her for any info at all! Thanks for providing us with the perfect place to stay!
The apartment was great! It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Everything we could possibly have wanted was provided. The neighborhood was lovely and it was very easy to get to San Francisco. Suzie is charming and extremely knowledgeable about the area. This was my first experience with airbnb so I was not sure what to expect but I could not have been more pleased. I would love to stay here again the next time I am in the Bay area.
Wonderful two bedroom space within walking distance of Rockridge Bart and shops. I would definitely stay here again. Everything is described accurately and the bonus is Susie provides snacks, coffee and vegan options.
This is a large, comfortable apartment with a vintage style in a great location. Susie is a kind and welcoming host who makes a special effort to be helpful. We spent two weeks there over the holidays visiting family who live nearby and appreciated the ease and convenience of staying in this apartment.
