Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Enjoy great views of downtown Hinton, the New River & the surrounding mountains from the porch of our 105-year-old Victorian. Perched at the top of a dead end road, our home features 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths (including a new walk-in shower).
Enjoy a well-stocked kitchen, a spacious living area for 6, and a fenced yard for your dog. With an in-unit washer/dryer and private parking for 3 cars, it’s the perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Your hilltop escape awaits!

The space
Large and spacious, airy and bright. 3 bedrooms, 2full bathrooms, full kitchen and dining room, washer & dryer available and a front porch with unbeatable views of the downtown area. Close to Bluestone and Pipestem state parks, at the confluence of the Bluestone, Greenbrier and New Rivers. First class fishing!! The doorstep of the nation’s newest national park, The New River Gorge National Park. West Virginia’s only national park!

Worth noting, 105 year old houses can be quirky, things may not be 100% level, some windows may not open properly and the floors are uneven in some spots and they might creak! All part of the charm. Also worth noting, our house is built into the side of a mountain, with woods behind us and a river below us. There is moisture. There are bugs. West Virginia is Wild AND Wonderful!

Guest access
Most of the house is available. A couple of rooms upstairs and a closet downstairs, are off limits, but are being used for storage or by housekeeping. No one else is staying on the property while you and your guests are there.
Entry is gained by the smart lock, your code will be sent with your check-in instructions a few days prior to your arrival and is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number..

Other things to note
We are a dog friendly property. Right now we only allow dogs, and only one dog per visit. There is a $80 fee for the stay. You must disclose you are bringing your dog. We have a crate for your pup if you need to leave them behind when going out. Please do NOT leave your dog locked in a room where they may scratch their way through a 100 year old wooden door. We provide dog bowls, a bowl full of biscuits, dog poop bags for when you are out for a walk and a fenced-in side yard with a dog poop "station" for you to clean up after them. Please be respectful of our space and town.

We offer a charcoal grill if you want to BBQ. There may or may not be charcoal and lighter fluid available when you arrive. There are plenty of places in town to purchase it if there is none on hand. It’s not something we provide, but we encourage guests to leave theirs behind, and pay it forward. So there is a good chance you may find some. Please take the grill down to the concrete before grilling so as not to chance setting the porch on fire! We have wifi and the cell service is also pretty solid, for the folks who need to work remotely, etc.
Per ABnBs terms of service we must disclose our camera. We have a security camera on our porch, it faces the door, the porch steps and the driveway. It is not continuously recording and is only on if we check it. It is there for your safety and ours. Any tampering with the camera is grounds for immediate cancelation of the reservation, We would hate for that to happen.

We are so happy to host you, please enjoy West Virginia and your stay at the Top of the Town!

Neighborhood highlights

Just blocks from the downtown Hinton Historic district - shopping, museums, eateries, the Ritz Theater and a short drive across the River, raft/kayak rental places to get you out on the water.

We are a short drive to so many things. Whether you’ve come for the rafting, the fishing, the train history or anything in between, you can find it nearby. Or if you just want to relax, grab a coffee or a cocktail and sit on the porch and enjoy the view and watch the clouds float by.

Fishing? No problem. One day fishing licenses can be purchased online at the WV DNR website and also at WaterDawgs Outdoors, which is just across the river. All your bait and tackle needs can also be found there.

Golfing? We are one hour or less from at least 7 excellent golf courses; The Pipestem course at Pipestem State Park, Black Knight in Beckley, Fountain Springs in Peterstown, Glade Springs Resort & Woodhaven in Daniels, Elks in Lewisburg and the PGA course at the Greenbrier, in White Sulphur Springs.

Visiting in the Winter? We are less than 20 miles from Winterplace Ski Resort for those who want to ski, snowboard and go tubing. We’re also 40 minutes from the state fair grounds in Lewisburg where they put on a fabulous drive thru Christmas light display!

Note for dog owners. IMPORTANT: we have a small fenced in yard for your dog, it can be accessed by simply opening the back kitchen door. However, if you and your dog like to go for walks, please be aware that no matter which direction you travel, there will be hills involved. Major hills. So for your sanity, if leashing up and going for a walk is a part of your dog's routine, you may want to reconsider this location. We love dogs and would love to have them visit but felt this was an important detail to note. There will be poop bags provided for walks, and there is a scooper and can dedicated to it in the yard. Please clean up after your dog. Our home and our town appreciate it!!
