Wake up to breakfast and coffee

Included essentials make mornings extra easy.
Slow down. Breathe. Stay awhile. Ironstone at Fork it Farm is a private country cottage for two, tucked amongst the gardens of our 44-hectare working farm in Tasmania’s Pipers Brook Wine Region.

Overlooking farmland, bushland and a neighbouring vineyard, it’s a place to switch off, light the fire and enjoy the quiet.

Explore nearby cellar doors and farmgates, wander the gardens, book a Behind the Scenes Farm Tour — or simply go nowhere at all.

The space
Nestled on a hillside overlooking our 44-hectare working farm, bushland and neighbouring vineyard, Ironstone at Fork it Farm is a private one-bedroom country cottage for two in Tasmania’s Pipers Brook Wine Region.

Built in 2021 and inspired by the simple character of a 19th-century Tasmanian cottage, Ironstone combines old-world charm with modern comfort. The cottage is completely off-grid, powered by solar and battery, with rainwater collected on the property.

Step outside into the gardens, find a sunny spot, curl up beside the wood fire or simply watch the changing light across the paddocks.

Slow down. Breathe. Stay awhile.

Guest access
Ironstone is your own private space during your stay. You’re welcome to wander through the surrounding gardens, relax in the outdoor areas and pick small amounts of fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables from the kitchen garden.

The wider property is a working farm, so livestock paddocks and production areas are not generally open for guests to explore independently.

If you’d like to discover more, you can book our Behind the Scenes Farm Tour, where we’ll share how we farm, introduce you to our heritage Berkshire pigs and take you behind the scenes of our paddock-to-plate operation.

Other things to note
You really can wake up and smell the bacon at Fork it Farm. We provide a few breakfast provisions, including our own naturally cured and smoked bacon and fresh eggs when available, with herbs and seasonal produce available to pick from the garden.

A changing selection of Fork it Farm meals, meats and pickles, along with Tasmanian wines, is also available to purchase from the cottage.

Ironstone is completely off-grid, so we ask guests to be thoughtful with electricity and water. There is no guest Wi-Fi, and mobile reception can vary — although you may be able to use your phone as a hotspot.

You’ll also be sharing the property with plenty of native wildlife, and rural life means uneven ground, gravel, insects and the occasional snake may all be part of the experience.

Sometimes the best way to explore Tasmania is to stop exploring it for a while.

Lives in Lebrina, Australia
In 2017 we said 'fork it' to the stresses of city life, packed up our lives to become ethicurean farmers. We are a small-scale family run farm, consisting of 12 Berkshire breeding sows, a small herd of cattle, sheep, ducks, geese and bees. We also grow most of our own herbs and vegetables. Our goal is to produce ethical, flavourful food for the local market. Over the past 20 months we have developed our all-natural product range (in our on-farm facility), to utilise the whole animal, which has recently expanded to include our pasture raised duck, goose, beef & lamb. We are also currently developing a range of products which incorporate sustainably sourced Tassie wild game. We put a lot of love into everything we do at Fork it Farm and we love sharing our farm.
