Interaction with Guests
We will leave a key for you and we are usually onsite in the other site, if anything is needed.
We are located in Fairfield. 'Cook Street Village' (a 10 minute walk away) has a grocery stores & markets, coffee shops, pizza/burger/healthy restaurant options, a pub, a bank, doctors office & health center, beer & wine store, video/dvd rental shop, clothing stores and a post office. And probably more that we aren't mentioning. Beacon Hill Park is less than 5 minutes walk away; it is a great place for kids, there is a little petting zoo, duck ponds, and lots of gorgeous flowers and big trees. Walking to town will take about 15 minutes through the park, or 2-3 minutes by car. In town there are great restaurants, lots of shopping, the museum, undersea gardens, and the Inner Harbour which has little water taxis that you can dart around in. Right across from the front of the house there is a large open space on the clifftop where people go for a stroll and walk their dogs, access to the beach is a stones throw away and you'll be down to the ocean in under 5 minutes. There are a few parks nearby for kids to play in: Linden Park is a 5 minute walk and has swings and other playground activities. The district of James Bay is also close by and is nice to walk through, there a lot of heritage homes there.
Bus stop 1 block away.
Parking in the driveway or out front.
We're a 30 minute drive from Victoria International Airport and 2 minute drive from the central bus/coach station. The port to catch boats to Seattle and port Angeles are also very close.
Other Things to Note
I have a cat who lives in the upstairs suite, his name is Charlie, he wanders around and he is friendly.
We expect guests to treat our property with the respect they would treat their own home. No pets, no parties and no smoking in or on the property please.
Very welcoming host - nice welcome card, responsive to emails about arrival logistics, bottle of wine for letting them show property to prospective long term let. Regarding accuracy, spot on that it's a fantastic location. However, felt that the description was open to misinterpretation since I thought we were renting the whole property but in fact the top floor was not part of the rental and was inhabited so there was some noise from that. Also the back garden was not available to us to use, which was stated in the home guidelines but not on the site. Not a big deal as it turned out, but feel the description should cover these points correctly.
Sorry to hear there was confusion about the property. I've adjusted the description to make it more clear that there are two suites in the house. The two listings have always been linked on our profile, the upstairs suite is called the apartment, and the main-floor suite is the one you and your family stayed in. Our apologies for the back garden being unavailable for your use, it usually is available, but it is undergoing a bit of a make-over that was stalled in the summer, and so there are some holes in the ground, and we didn't want any liability issues. We did have the front garden available for use with a bench for viewing the sunsets, and there's also lots of open space across the road. Glad you had a good time overall and enjoyed the location :) Hope your journey home was a good one! All the best,
Nick and Jayne
Let me first start by saying how wonderful our hosts were. Jayne and Nick were very accommodating, finding the space was easy and detailed instructions with a welcoming note were left to help us settle in. We cannot even begin to explain in words how amazing this 'rad pad by the sea' really was! The enormous bay windows with a view of the ocean are truly captivating! Gorgeous space with all the niceties of home. The HUGE claw foot tub left me wandering down town (conveniently a close walk) looking for more bubbles! As a runner, the ocean side path on Dallas Road is a dream, followed up by Beacon Hill Park! Cannot wait to stay again one day... absolutely relaxing and beautiful! Thank you so much!!!
Fantastic location which provided a great base for our holiday in Victoria. Accessible and responsive, Jayne and Nick were great hosts. Would be happy to return. Thank you!
We stayed here for a month in February and it was absolutely lovely. The view was stunning. The location was perfect. The house was cozy and a great size for two people or more for hosting other friends and family. Both Jayne and Nick were responsive and great hosts. We would recommend it to anyone!!!
Jayne and Nick were very prepared to receive us and always ready to help. The site is amazing. We'll certainly come back.
