Lower east made easy

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Madison St, New York, NY 10002, United States

The Space

It's a two story walk-up at the edge of the island. Think classic lower east tenement buildings with a chinese influence. It's the New York that you see in movies: nothing of Times Square exists here, not even Starbucks.

It's a one bedroom. The bed is super comfortable. There's internet and an AppleTV that's hooked to a LCD flat screen Smart TV(with Netflix).

It's walking distance to all lower east side activities--restaurants, bars, parks, to Soho, the east village and the financial district. The nearest subway (on the corner) is the F: East Broadway. Easy access to Times Square & all the major NYC sites. It's convenient.

Oh, and it's clean and there's an air mattress under the bed if you need it.

If you need to check-in before 2pm or check out after 11am , let me know. We'll try to make it work.

  • Great apartement! The bed is indeed very confortable. Even tough the place is not super bright during the day, it is clean and spacious. The subway is literally 1 minute away, which is GREAT!
Cecilia is helpful and responsive. They give good advices for restaurants!

  • It was our first time in NY and this place helped make our trip a good one. The place was a perfect size for 2 people and a lot bigger than what I had expected (I noticed places in NY were really small). The entire loft was equipped with the necessities such as extra towels, bed sheets, kitchenware and toiletries. The loft also had a new smart TV that came with Netflix. I also really appreciated how the loft was furnished and decorated. The space was used nicely!

We unfortunately had a problem with our shower prior to our arrival and a plumber had to come fix it during our stay. I understand some things happen that we can't control so this was okay. You could also hear your neighbors to the side of you and also above. This wasn't a huge problem though. Cecilia personally met us when we arrived and showed us how to work the keys and the shower. She let us know about the plumber so their visit was expected. She was easy to communicate with during our stay.

The F subway platform was literally across the street and this made it so easy to get around with the subway. We used the F line to get everywhere! It was really easy to walk to Chinatown and Soho. If you like dive bars and cheap beer check out Bar 169 (walking distance from the loft).

The loft is located on the 2nd floor and there's no elevator so be prepared to walk your luggage.

If you are young and traveling in two I definitely recommend this loft.

  • We really liked the apartment and would gladly recommend it to anyone
+ a lot of space (a bedroom and a living room + fully equipped kitchen), especially by Manhattan standards, looks very nice and new inside, clean (apartment and sheets, towels etc)
+ amazing bed! super cozy and comfortable
+ quiet at both day and night (almost)
    + 50 meters from metro
+ nice TV with netflix etc, fast wireless, books and NYC guides are provided
+ windows face backyard so you won't get any sunlight but I consider it a plus - makes the apartment quiet
    - neighbors from the floor above sometimes make loud noises... like they move their furniture or something. But that's not frequent and we just laughed about it
    - closest metro station is F line which does not run the most frequent trains but it's alright - you just have to account for that (e.g. 5-15 min wait for the train)
    - not too much fun to do in the neighborhood but again that's why the apartment is cheaper than the apartments in the Village etc

Cecilia and Randall - we did not get to meet them - are super attentive and helpful. They answered all our questions on airbnb within like 5 mins. Huge thanks and props!

So again, I would totally recommend the apartment

  • Really good base for a stay in New York - although it's definitely lower lower east side, it's well connected, with the East Broadway subway stop less than a minute's walk, and several other lines within 10-15 minutes walk. Lots of other good stuff is nearby: the 169 bar for a fun cheap night out and Cafe Petisco for basic but good food in particular. Cecilia And Randall were really prompt to reply to messages both before and during my stay, and very quick to resolve a problem with the projector - they delivered (and set up) a new TV the same day.

  • Randall is SUPER quick in responding and helps address any questions you may have. Then Cecilia provides thorough details, responsive and accommodating. These are AMAZING hosts based on their responsiveness I would definitely stay again!

The apt itself is PERFECT! It's not fancy or updated, but it's clean, good size, has the essentials, well put together in decor and fabulous price. I think from staying there you have a true "New Yorker" experience. Located in the LES, you are literally steps from the E Broadway stop, and ample street parking (just pay attention to street cleaning signs).

So the apt itself actually feels better than the pictures, I couldn't help telling my friends living in NYC how perfect it was. The bed is really comfortable but really high up, so if one was drinking and fell off the bed would be a far way to go (I think it's close to 4ft off the ground). Also, the apt is fully stocked with everything we needed for the weekend, I can't think of anything we needed that wasn't available for us to use.

My only cons are building related; such as the water taking a while to heat up, the water pressure not being good, really steep stairs, and the ceiling not being really soundproof so you can hear the neighbors upstairs (wasn't terrible but definitely heard them).

Overall, I would stay here in a heartbeat! Thanks Randall and Cecilia=)

  • We were very pleased with our stay at Randall's. The apartment was warm, clean and had everything we needed. The bed is really comfortable and with the blinds shut, the room is quite dark for a good nights rest.
The East Broadway subway station was located at the corner of Rutgers and Madison- very very close to the apartment. There are some good delis nearby for any basic needs and Chinatown and little Italy are just a short stroll away. Highly recommended- we thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • Randall's place was perfect. It was larger than expected, and very clean. The neighborhood had lots of good food to offer, and there was a subway entrance right across the street. So convenient. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • Great apartment very near to the Subway (F trains) - walking distance to Canal Street / China Town / Soho / Little Italy etc. Ideal place for our first trip to NY.

Although we didn't meet Randall he kept us informed and we picked up the keys without any trouble. He was also very accommodating with our arrival and departure times.

The bed is amazing! And Apple TV on the projector was a little bonus. We will certainly recommend this place to friends & family.

  • Awesome apartment, great location (one block from subway, easy long-ish walk to SoHo), really terrific host. Randall was easy to get ahold of, very flexible and super nice. We loved this trip and would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

  • This was an ideal airbnb experience. Randall made it very convenient to pick up the keys when we arrived. The place was absolutely spotless – the bathroom's cleanliness was nothing short of inspiring. To state the obvious, the location is excellent, a subway stop on the corner and a short walk from the heart of LES. His place was a great place to take a break from running around NYC, too. The bed is super comfy and he has great books. Thanks Randall!

About
I'm a normal New Yorker. Travelling when I can. Own my own company. Understands a good night out and a great hike. I like the idea of seeing what the city has to offer more through what the city creates. It's something that hotels can't give.
