We have enjoyed spending a week at Sarah's apartment. There was more than enough space to fit ourselves and our massive luggage. The beds were supersoft and we were happy to rest on them after long days of walking and sightseeing. Although we did not cook much, the kitchen was cute and functional. The amazing view from the roof fascinated us, so we spent a few evenings sitting on the benches there.
The apartment was not close to the subway, but it was ok. It took us around 30-40 minutes to get to the center.
We were dissatisfied with the neighborhood. Other than that, we did not have any problems while staying at Sarah's apartment, so we recommend this place to other travelers.
Sarah's apartment is lovely (as is Sarah!) and has everything you might need or want. It's very evident she takes extraordinary care of her home and has turned it into her sanctuary--the setup and decor of the bedroom and living room are especially wonderful, and the bed is super comfortable. A ++.
The neighborhood is on the cusp of gentrification, but it's not there yet. (This is both a good and a bad thing, depending on the various perspectives from which you could approach what is undeniably a complicated issue.) That said, the apartment itself is right around the corner from the A (express!) and C lines and near several markets. In my book, these things are among the most important!
About the Host, Sarah
I've lived in NYC for over twenty-five years and always happy to help others find what they love here too. This city is the most diverse place I've ever seen -- it never stops amazing me. I moved to Bedstuy about four years ago from the Lower East Side in Manhattan. Really enjoying settling into Brooklyn and exploring all its many charms.
Professionally, I'm a human rights consultant. I also have a background in construction work, especially electrical work. I am also a scuba Divemaster and spend as much time as possible underwater.
