Chinese themed room in Victorian town house, SW2. Local transport 5 mins walk to overland rail direct to Clapham Junction and Victoria and short easy bus journey to Brixton for Victoria Line. Pleasant cafés and restaurants locally.

The Space

The room is an oriental themed room on the top floor of our Victorian home set over 3 floors, in a conservation area. There is a double bed, and the room also has a 32" LCD TV with digital channels available if you prefer to stay in. Extra heaters are provided for those not used to the English climate (especially in winter!). Wooden floorboards and rugs throughout, and wifi included, as is a "help yourself" breakfast! Your hosts Brad and Chris are an early 30's friendly professional gay couple living in the house; Brad is a doctor and Chris is a management consultant.

The house is very spacious with the bedroom shown on the top floor with an adjacent luxury shower room; there is also a traditional Victorian bathroom with iron claw-foot bath which you are also welcome to use. The kitchen is very large and has all modern facilities. There is also a pretty decked garden area with gazebo and pagoda for guests to have breakfast outside when the weather is good.

The house is located in Streatham Hill (SW2) is an area of London quite close to Brixton and only 15-20 minutes by overground train to the centre of London (to either Victoria Station or London Bridge). The nearest Victoria Line Tube is 10 minutes away at Brixton by buses which arrive every few minutes, including through the night.

After the tube or rail have finished night buses continue dropping off at the end of our road from diverse destinations as Trafalgar Square, Whitehall/Westminster, Oxford Circus, London Bridge, Sloane Square, Waterloo, Elephant and Castle and Liverpool Street.

-Transport Connections: Equidistant between Tulse Hill Station and Streatham Hill Station.

-Tulse Hill 10 mins walks - frequent trains to London Bridge Station taking about 20 mins for London Dungeon, "the Shard", night life, Borough Market, "The London Bridge Experience", Tate Modern, Southwark Cathedral, St Paul's Cathedral, Southbank.

-Streatham Hill Station 10 mins walk for frequent trains to Clapham Junction and Victoria Station for Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Hyde Park / Green Park, Central London shopping, theatres, bars, Downing Street, Banqueting House, Trafalgar Square, London Eye, National Portrait Gallery

Clapham Junction is 8 mins from Streatham Hill station for easy change for trains to e.g. Kew Gardens, Wimbledon, Windsor Castle and Eton College, Hampton Court Palace. Clapham Junction is the busiest railway station in the UK and there are trains to Waterloo every few minutes for alternative accessibility to attractions.

The house is accessible from Gatwick Airport most readily to Clpaham Junction, but Heathrow is also accessible via tube from Central London.

An Oyster Card is essential for all travel in London and we would be happy to give you pre-arrival advice about obtaining one. It is also essential that you are not intimidated by travel on various forms of transport to get the best out of London or else you will find yourself walking endlessly!!

We provide information about attractions, and have a number of local attraction guidebooks, as well as being happy to assist you in identifying excursions, attractions and onward routes for those travelling elsewhere. We are both very well travelled in Europe and beyond and familiar with many European destinations for those who are making a trip to the UK as one part of this, as well as many other UK destinations for those staying in the UK only.

Smoking is allowed outside in the garden, and there is a covered area if it is raining.

Liking dogs is an absolute necessity for visiting and staying with us, since we also have a small friendly dog who loves cuddles. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our home.

We also have two bikes which may be available if you wanted to do some cycling.

Interaction with Guests

We are very friendly and happy to interact with guests on a daily basis, very approachable for advice about attractions, transport, assistance etc.

We also respect that you want your personal space and take care not to be intrusive to your break.

  • To say the least, we were treated like family rather than guests in this house. Brad and Chris are not only incredible hosts, but amazing people who we are now proud to call friends. They met us at Clapham Junction at 1 am, drove us to their place, took care of our luggage, prepared breakfast every morning (the table was set out beautifully each time!), let us use their bikes, offered rides, printed out maps, gave us extensive info and advice on every single question we had all along being attentive, polite and sincere. Brad and Chris have a wonderful house in a lovely area conveniently situated very close to metro. The room and bathroom are very stylish, the bed even has a heater, there's more than enough space and you actually have the whole floor to yourself. Fantastic stay and exceptional people, who made our trip really. Any time we're in London from now on - this is where we're staying!

  • Brad and Chris were wonderful hosts. They accommodated our late night arrival and the room was very comfortable. The private bathroom is so luxurious! Their home is beautiful. This was a fantastic deal and we would stay here again.

  • A room of great character in an elegant house. Superb bathroom, and delightful kitchen/diner for breakfast - doubtless in summer breakfast outside possible beneath pleasing pergola. Very welcoming hosts and all close to Streatham Hill station shops etc. We recommend.
