Hello! I have a dedicated, beautiful guest bedroom with a private black marble bathroom in my renovated three bedroom apartment in Manhattan on the Upper West Side. This classic New York building is turn-of-the century (pre-war), on the corner of Central Park West and 100th street... across the street is Central Park!

The apartment is conveniently located near subway and buses... within walking distance to over a dozen museums, and you can get almost anywhere in Manhattan within 20-40 minutes, door-to door!

* Just to clarify, since the question comes up a lot, I am only renting this bedroom, not the entire apartment (I live in 3rd bedroom!). If you need another room, I rent out the other room in this apartment, please check out my other listing. Also, please do not rent the room because of the piano... this is not a practice studio or a concert instrument. Guests may use the piano occasionally but its not for hours of practice a day.

THE ROOM:
This beautiful room is a dedicated guest bedroom, and is fully furnished with a private black marble full-bathroom (only you will use this bathroom!). There is beautiful brick wall, dark hardwood floors, and a wall-unit that lets you hang clothes, with drawers and shelves so you can fully unpack - you don't have to live out of a suitcase. There is a plush pillow-top Kings Down full-size mattress on a captains bed with 2 drawers that is available to put more of your things in. There is also a small wooden desk and chair. This is an interior bedroom within the apartment, and the windows face a light well (not Central Park). There is high-speed Wi-Fi throughout apartment, including this bedroom, and you are free to use it.

I will supply sheets and towels. The room will comfortably fit a couple. The bed has a cozy down comforter, and pillows. You are welcome to hang out in the large and comfortable living room during your stay. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen as much (or little) as you want. There is a shelf in the refrigerator for your food, as well as space in the cabinets to put groceries. I don't provide any food for guests, but there are grocery stores nearby. I have spices, sugar, etc which am happy to share.

If you have a lot of luggage, you can always store them in the living room, under the piano.

THE APARTMENT
This is a large, furnished, 3 bedroom apartment with 2 marble bathrooms & kitchen (approx 1200 sq ft). It is a beautifully renovated pre-war building, and we are on the 4th floor (walk-up). There is wi-fi in the apartment. In the 2nd bedroom, I either have a roommate or will also rent it out on Airbnb. I live in the third bedroom.

Most guests say this apartment looks like the quintessential New York City apartment, being right on Central Park with the brick walls in every room, fire escape, grand piano, and dark wood floors.

Since I am a composer and music producer the apartment is filled with musical things... photos and posters from my shows, musical instruments, and my studio setup. I also have a 6ft baby-grand Baldwin piano which guests can play during the day, when myself and my roommate are out of the apartment. I've had many wonderful musical guests stay, ranging from students auditioning at music conservatory to musicians performing at Carnegie Hall!
* But, please do not rent the room because of the piano... this is not a practice studio or a concert instrument. Guests may use the piano occasionally but its not for hours of practice a day.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The neighborhood is residential area that is quiet and safe! The Police and Fire station is 2 blocks away. We are also within 2 blocks from a lot of stores including Whole Foods, a wine store, several pharmacies, various stores, banks, a bakery, several restaurants, and dry cleaner. 3 blocks away on Broadway are tons of restaurants, and many deliver.

THE LOCATION
We are located right on Central Park West on the Upper West Side of Manhattan - a very residential area. You can get almost anywhere in Manhattan within 20-40 minutes. Within walking distance of the apartment are more then a dozen museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim, Natural History Museum, Hayden Planetarium, Neue Gallery, Jewish Museum, and many more. Also within walking distance is the famous "Tom's Diner"used in Seinfeld!

TRANSPORTATION
The 96th street B and C subway is a 2 minute walk from the building. Within 20 minutes (by subway) you can be in Times Square and the theater district for Broadway Shows. Within 20 to 40 min you can be almost anywhere in Manhattan! You can walk thru the park in about 15 or 20 minutes to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim, or the Natural History Museum. From any of the main airports it will take about 1.5hrs to Newark or JFK by public transportation and 45-60 min by taxi. To Laguardia about 60 min by public transportation and 25-30 min by taxi.

MISC
If you are new to NYC, I am more then happy to help explain how to get places, recommendations, and answer any questions - I grew up in NYC!

Any questions, please feel free to write!

Guest access

Guests have access to the room they rent, and the living room/kitchen.

Interaction with guests

I work from home, so I am in my room a lot during the daytime, and often out in the evenings. I try to be home during guest checkins, but sometimes is not possible. Lets be in contact a day or two before you travel to arrange for checkin time. If not home, I can easily leave the keys in a lockbox outside the building door.

Other things to note

This is an older building so it has quirks that older buildings tend to have. Its charming an beautiful, but its not a modern building with all the amenities! Any questions please ask :-)

Great location across from the northern part of Central Park. It allowed us to explore over a week the entire park, plus part of Harlem and along 5th and Lexington Avenues. Lots of amenities nearby: small grocery store, convenience store, Starbucks, huge Whole Foods and its wine store. Columbus Ave. is a treat to walk along, with great delis. Subway stop is two blocks down Central Park West. Zip to Times Square in 15 minutes. However, cabs are cheap and ubiquitous. Patrick's place is quiet with a roomy common area. We had the room with private bathroom which was convenient. Plenty of space for staring some basic groceries. We didn't buy much but nice to have some breakfast before heading out for the day. Patrick was good at communication, both in the time leading up to our trip and when we arrived in NYC. He sent a text with an explanation and photos on how to access the keys since he was out for the evening. Very efficient. Check out was a breeze. Finally, this was a great area to stay because it was away from the craziness in Mid-town. It's also safe and very pretty with the park and architecture.

Well-located apartment in a nice neighbourhood, close to shops, underground and Central Park. Confortable bed. The apartment and the whole building could be cleaner. As it is shared with other guests it can be noisy sometimes.

Patrick was a great host; accommodating and helpful. His place has the cool vibe you'd expect from someone with his creative nature. We loved the location; across from Central Park, easy access to the subway, great coffee and a Whole Foods around the corner. Patrick made us feel welcome and did a great job of giving us our space while being available for conversation or ideas on the what, where and how of New York.

We stayed with Patrick for 2 days and overall it was a good stay. Check-in was very easy and he provided us with a list of close restaurants that delivered as well as invited us to an event he was putting on at a local club. The decor was very nice with hardwood floors and many items related to the arts were on display. There was coffee and tea provided for the morning and the top shelf of the refrigerator was available for our leftovers. There is a market downstairs that we used to purchase water and alcohol that was convenient. Unfortunately, one of the chairs was broken in the main area making it difficult for us to both sit and eat our take-out. While the bathroom was clean, the shower pressure was low. There was also a decent amount of noise from the neighbors though the AC did a good job of drowning it out. The bed was comfortable. Our location was 4 blocks from the subway and across the street from Central Park. There were many restaurants within walking distance (10 minutes) including a French bakery with great pastries and fruit tarts. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
