The town is very lively during the summer, with 3 restaurants, cafe and bars within 2 minutes walking distend. In the town you can also find the nonsense museum, museum about traditional icelandic dry fish, an International dull museum, local handcraft store, run by the older ladies in the town. There is also a great swimming pool in Flateyri, a petrol station and a tiny supermarket. You can also rent a kayak or go out fishing with local fisherman in Flateyri.

- The bars, cafe, restaurants and museums are usually open from May -September.

Next supermarket, more stores and restaurants open all year around is in Isafjordur, 15 minutes drive from Flateyri.
