About this listing
A lovely family home (I am biased but ...) we offer 2 bedrooms for B&B Guests, this one has a large double bed and a sofa bed. It has fantastic views of Lough Neagh as does our guest sitting room.
We have two bedrooms (both have lovely views of Lough Neagh) and guests have use of our lovely big sitting room, but this listing concentrates on the Blue Room. The Blue Room is en suite, has a large double bed and a sofa which opens into a standard double so the room is excellent for couples or families with young children. It has a TV, binoculars, hairdryer and a hospitality tray. There is a library available for guests and there are magazines in the sitting room. The sitting room has a multi fuel stove (for chilly evenings), large TV, extensive selection of tourist information, and most important of all, comfortable chairs and sofas. All meals are served in the dining room and guests are welcome to bring their own wine or beer if having an evening meal.
Breakfast uses our own free range eggs, (you can meet the hens), rare breed pig products, home made Irish bread and preserves, and Elizabeth uses local produce whenever possible.
Local produce is also used for the evening meals which are by arrangement. Guests are welcomed with the offer of tea or coffee and home made scones or cake.
There is off street parking for cars and covered storage for bikes, motorbikes and canoes and storage for sports equipment such as golf clubs. We also have a kennel and run for visiting dogs.
Outside there is an area for guests to sit and admire the view.
We have internet access but due to our distance from the exchange we are only able to offer guests email access and goggling access, it is not feasible to download large files or films.
The house and garden are 70 yds from the lough and have uninterrupted views. The field in front of the house is home to our hens and geese, whilst we have ducks in the back garden. It is a very rural area, so very peaceful despite close proximity to Belfast International Airport.
Public transport is nearby and we are happy to collect guests from the airport or the nearby towns of Antrim and Crumlin. Both have public transport links to Belfast and other areas of N.I. We are on cycle route - Sustrans 94.
We are 30 minutes from Belfast City Centre (apart from rush hour), 25 minutes from Ballymena and Lisburn, 45 minutes from the Giant's Causeway (direct route), 45 minutes to mid-Ulster with its wonderful National Trust properties. We are 15 minutes from the uniques Patterson's Spade Mill, and 10 minutes from either Antrim or Crumlin.
We like people and will be delighted to welcome you to our home.
Guests have access to their bedroom, the sitting room, a gazebo area with chairs and a table outside. There is free Wifi, lots of books and a selection of jigsaws and board games.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as they wish. Obviously I cannot be around 24/7 but as the B&B is the family home I am usually available and happy to answer queries etc.
The lough dominates our local landscape and it is always changing, it is beautiful.
Our nearest train station is in Antrim (51/2 miles away) as is the bus station, but there is an express bus to Belfast from the airport which is only 3 miles away. We are not really suitable for people without cars or motorbikes or bikes (we provide dry storage for the last two).
There is no smoking in the house.
Dogs are welcome in their kennel and run outside, they are not allowed in the house.
About the Host, Elizabeth
Very happy having had and survived my mid-life crisis - hence the bed and breakfast. Wonderful opportunity to meet people, talk about Northern Ireland and indulge my love of baking.
Having done up the house now working on the garden which I hope to turn into a colourful, scented mass of flowers with a healthy vegetable patch - have to say sometime off achieving this aim.
