The space

I built this last year and made it as close to a modern Western bachelor pad as possible. This means no more fluorescent tubes, wet bathroom floors with random cockroaches/mice, leaky roof, noisy rooms w/ mosquitoes buzzing around, tacky Asian furnitures and incense burning altar.

About the house It has huge windows on each floor for view and natural light. First floor is filled with english books. 2nd floor is a loft office+bathroom (it is Western style not the "Vietnamese" style if you know what I m talking about). The master bedroom is on 3rd floor.

About the room you will stay, it is on the top floor. This means it is pretty quiet ( a rarity in the honk-happy Saigon), thus ensuring a good night sleep. it has its own private patio so you can just hang out, have a Saigon beer and be mesmerized by the crazy traffic (trust me after 3 years it still is mesmerizing). Wifi and washer are avail free of charge. Secure door, safe neighborhood plus a 24/7 security camera will give you the peace of mind.

About the location it is in District 1. This means you are literally:
1. 5-10 min away on foot to a Czech beer garden, a massive shopping mall, a supermarket, city park, the electronics district and the card district (wedding cards, business cards) and hundreds of delicious restaurants ( I highly recommend Minh Duc, a cheap and authentic restaurant recently featured in the NY Times)
2. 5-10 mins away by taxi to all major attractions like the cathedral, reunification palace, ben thanh market, backpacker area (which by the way is where most tours depart so if you are thinking of going to other cities you can pretty much walk to the bus from the house)
4. 20 mins away from the train station and the airport.

Taxi is passing by every minute and if you are adventurous (or on a budget) there is a xe om guy right across from the house.

a. No maid service available.
b. Discount for long term stay. Make me an offer
c. The airbnb photographer uses wide lens or something. The house is actually smaller than it appears in the photos.

Dat was out of town, but he arranged for his friend to meet us and give us the keys. The apartment is very nice and a great value for the money, especially since we had the whole place to our selves. Great wifi connection, and some interesting views. It's right off of the main backpacker area, with lots of food and entertainment options around. It was a great value for the price, and we really enjoyed our time there.

The appartement is very near by the center and you can walk to the touristic monuments. Or caps are also available everytime quickly directly in front of the house. Very nice to feel as your own home and perfect when you don't like hotels arear. Very kindly and friendly owner.

Comfortable secure accomodation in a reasonable location. Lost electricity one night when circuit board overloaded and breaker wouldn't reset. Then advised not to use washing machine on heavier cycles/high spin. It was a long sweaty night without the AC. No towels. No room servicing. Good AC and comfortable bed. No TV in the smaller room. WiFi available but stopped working on the iPod touch after the first day. Probably fine for computers. I accidentally locked the bookshop staff out the last morning, but presumed they would have a key to the glass door locks. There is a electric roller door (like garage) on the entrance as well. Make sure you watch it all the way shut, otherwise it may stop short of the floor and leave the residence unsecured. Felt a bit like the Omega Man. Overall not a bad place to stay.

Very modern renovation, in a relatively quiet area (taxi to centre of town was quick and cheap). Plenty of space - we had the whole place to ourselves as the bookshop downstairs is closed. Value for money. Remember to bring or buy your own towels.
