We are a married couple with a 2 storey, 2 bathroom, 3 bedroom gorgeous, well-heated, private home. Guests have their own shared bathroom & shower & toilet seperate to ours. We have a large, comfy warm room downstairs with a flat screen TV, as well as free Wi-Fi. Your bedroom is private but please share our home!
We live in a very nice neighbourhood called Opoho, situated up in the hills overlooking the sea and the Botanic gardens, 3 blocks away. I am an artist and our house is very much "an artist's home", which is hard to describe- you'll just have to see! We have hens in the back yard garden and behind us is a small pasture bordered by eucalyptus trees. Our neighbour grazes his sheep there.
Our yard is filled with song birds like Tuis and Bell-Birds; their songs are the only noise we get up here. We are also a 20 minute walk from the University of Otago & Dunedin's new stadium. Busses run regularly from our neighbourhood, the bus stop is 2 blocks away and the town centre is 10 minutes by bus. For a little extra we can pick you up and drop you off at the airport or take you on sight-seeing tours in our 7 seater van, or you can rent a car about a 20 minute walk from our house.
We are happy to share our kitchen and dining area with guests, and we have a commercial sized washer & dryer for laundry. We have a beautiful large deck with a view of the ocean and the air is so clean here, you can see clear across town to the hills on the other side. On a clear night you can easily see the Milky Way and the brightest stars in the southern sky. Our sunrises and sunsets are unparallelled in beauty!
Our favourite travel destination is anywhere on the South Island, and we love to help guests plan their itineraries because we know the best spots- no one wants to travel this far only to waste time in tourist traps!
Mark and I are in and out all day so we'll be around if there are any problems but we won't breathe down your necks. We are friendly and love showing off our part of the world to visitors, so please come and stay- you are welcome here!
cozy，warm and lovely house，Margi is so nice，highly recommend！
New Zealand has the reputation of having cold houses. The welcome Margi and Mark gave us was like being wrapped a a warm snuggly blanket. From the first we felt like we were part of the family.
We had both rooms and haven't slept so well in a long time. Fantastic view. Close to the Botanical Gardens.Quiet.
And Margi- your cornbread is the best!!
Margi and Mark are welcoming, friendly and interesting. They are, by far, the best feature of the house! But the art, the painted walls and ceilings certainly add interest. And beauty.
Fantastic conversations! We just walked in and felt right at home.
We really enjoyed our stay in this colourful arty home, they are great conversationalists and provided a very tasty breakfast!! They are in a lovely suburb great for walks, with a nice outlook from their home. Excellent city/harbour views from further up the hill
Even though our stay was very short it was very sweet! Wonderful hosts and so hospitable. Rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. Highly recommended..
