About this listing
Winner of a 2010 American Institute of Architects VT award, this is David Sellers' incredible concrete house nicknamed the "Archie Bunker." The house is located in scenic Warren, Vermont, in the Mad River Valley. Words don't describe this house that is designed down to the switchplates. The entire house is custom built with beautiful woodwork, concrete sculpture, and much more to explore. Enjoy sitting in the living room in which the wall slides open entirely to allow you to jump into the pool, or just get a bit of fresh air. Take a bath in a hand made tub that is surrounded by views of Warren. Cook dinner or have cocktails in the kitchen with brand new appliances and a see through sink. OR, we can provide you with a private chef, or pre-made meals for an extra but reasonable cost.
There are two bedrooms, and a pocket bed that pulls out from underneath the kitchen. There are many interesting views and windows throughout the house, so if privacy is a top concern, please take this into consideration.
In the winter, enjoy a kids sledding hill as well as town sledding hill at golf course very close, curling stones, sleds, ice skating on the pond and a shufflepuck table. In summer and fall, enjoy the pool, and the private 9 hole Pitch and Putt golf course with clubs and balls included. There is wireless internet, a phone, and a speaker system set up for an iPod. Be advised, there is not a TV, but many cool books and some games to explore as well as a great movie theater nearby.
The house is located minutes from the heart of Warren, Sugarbush and Mad River Glen, as well as many great restaurants such as the Pitcher Inn, Warren Store, and American Flatbread. The Mad River Valley is also known for it's arts, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation opportunities. For more about Dave's architecture, check out "Sellers and Company."

Everything was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a cozier slice of Vermont. The fire was even pre-assembled for us in the fireplace. All we had to do was strike a match.
We had an amazing stay at the Archie Bunker this past weekend. We went up from NYC to ski Sugarbush, and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It is a quick 5 minute drive down the road to the parking lot of a great mountain, and also a cozy place to come back to after a long day on the hill. The hosts made us feel right at home, and had us set up with the fireplace burning when we arrived. The unique architecture and design of the space was very impressive, and also very comfortable. I would love to come back, and enjoy the Archie Bunker again sometime in the near future.
This is definitely the coolest house we have ever have the pleasure of visiting! Really beautiful, excellent views, all kinds of interesting details. We stayed here for a family wedding in Warren and it was a pleasure... Thanks for everything!
This is my Second year there....we are cyclists and Warren is perfect for riding....This year 4 of us came total and it was epic. The house is great, after riding 5-6 hours a day and between 80/100 Miles....pool, fixing dinner together etc....Great set up!
Come on David....Target bikers....we are great guests...we ride all day and go to bed early! :)
We loved the Archie Bunker. The pool is amazing, picking blueberries in the field, searching for frogs in the pond, and checking out all the nooks and crannies of the house. It feels great there. One thing to note for larger groups, the kitchen is pretty small and not terribly well stocked with essential tools for cooking, but we did fine and ate well. And did I mention the pool? We were in it 5+ times a day. The price is steep, but worth it as it is a unique, fantastic, and fun place to stay.
This is a really unique place, as the other reviews will attest. Most underappreciated aspect of the house from my perspective is the radiant heating -- about how many places in Vermont where would you say you WANT to be barefoot in the house during winter? The drawer bed is a nice, full bed, so this is like a 3BR place (and if you have kids, the drawer bed will absolutely blow their minds). Cool experience.
The Bunker is a marvelous EXPERIENCE! The pictures, as lovely as they are, do not do it justice. I want to LIVE THERE FOREVER! The space is inspiring and welcoming. The space is full of surprises and every time you visit a room you see some new detail you missed before. The entire front wall by the pool slides open, which is just delectable! Dave provided plenty of linens, as well.
Keep in mind that the fridge is very SMALL, which was a challenge with 8 people. If you plan on cooking and bringing much food with you plan on bringing lots of ice and ice chests.
The pool is amazing and deep! There is a pitch and put course right next door and a lovely little pond with a foot bridge.
The sunsets are beautiful and there is plenty of shade around the house to keep it cool during the day even in the summer.
There are lots of chairs and sofas so the living room is suitable for large groups, as well.
I cannot say enough amazing things about the Bunker! It was a real grown up fairy tale to stay there!
