The Legacy House was built in 1898 by William Phillip Gray, a lumber and coal magnet from Enfield, CT. The house is 4,500 sq. ft. Mr. Gray spared no expense in using the most expensive virgin tiger oak to embellish the beautiful Victorian architecture throughout the home. I feel that I am a steward of history by offering this beautiful home for others to visit. I have preserved the original embellishments from tile to wood. It takes you back to a place and time of romance and beauty.

Where you’ll be

Springfield, Massachusetts, United States

Forest Park is a Victorian garden district located in Springfield, developed between 1880 and 1920. It is the city's most populous neighborhood and surrounds the 735-acre Frederick Law Olmsted-designed Forest Park, for which the neighborhood is named.
The beautiful park is within walking distance from the house.
The surrounding neighborhoods are right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Most houses have a plaque on the front indicating the year the house was built.
In 1884 Orick Greenleaf & Everett Barney donated 65 and 178 acres of land , respectively, for the creation of the urban park named Forest Park. It is now one of the largest urban parks in the US.
In Forest Park you will find the beautiful mausoleum of the Barney family on the property they once owned. It was built in 1892 for their son who died 1889. The mausoleum is built on the land where his father was going to build a house for his son. One of many interesting things about Forest Park.

During your stay

I would love to socialize and tell my guest about the house if they are interested. Otherwise I give them plenty of privacy and am available either in person or text.
