The hostel looks even better than in the photos. The room was clean and cozy. The receptionist girl Andrea was very friendly and helpful. Location is great, you don’t need to take a taxi or bus to explore the main spots of the city.

El Manso is a nice space, good value given the great location right off the Malecón. We did not stay in the room as advertised as apparently that room had water issues. The room we did stay in didn’t have a balcony but was still nice.

Response from Ricardo:
Hi Hannah, thanks for your comments. Sorry that you were not given advance notice of the change of room, but we were trying until last minute to fix it. Anyways, the room you received was a better one, we normally sell it for a higher price. That is why I did not consider it important to send you a message about this; the front desk staff was supposed to let you know that; I am sorry if they didnt =)

We had only one night in Guayaquil and believe we got very lucky in selecting Ricardo's hostal on the Malecon. The room that we wanted had a view of the Malecon right across the street and a view of the river. The building does not look like much on the outside but once you get…

Ricardo was fantastic. The room was large and the air-conditioning was cold. I felt welcome. Ricardo even invited my fiance and me on a bike ride with him, his friend, and their sons. We had a great time! Highly recommend meeting Ricardo and staying here!
