Me and my buddy stayed here for one night traveling from Dublin to Galway and honestly wished we had stayed at least another day. Central location close to pubs and restaurants but the real charm is the awesome decorations and style of the house.I would highly recommend!

Great stay in the long loft room. I was traveling with my 12 year old daughter and she thought it was the best room she has every stayed in. Quirky, charming and comfortable - what more could you want? The whole house is the same. After i checked out Anthony allowed me use their lounge for the day. Located in a lovely part of Athlone with restaurants and bars close at hand with nearby parking. I highly recommend this alternative and welcoming home.

Anthony and Vicki were a so called superhost! thank you very much for your wonderful loft room! We enjoyed every second at their place and Athlone. It's very close to everything you need, even Seans Bar and Bastion Kitchen, too! We'll be back once! Greetings, Lena & Dennis

Anthony User ProfileAnthony is a superhost.

Hi I'm Anthony. I run The Bastion with my brother Vinny. Our street is named after the Royal Bastion which once occupied the street where we are.

Our house is a bit of a labyrinth inside. There's lots of history here. The world famous Irish tenor John Count McCormack often visited in the early 1900s. More recently we had Michael Jackson downstairs at The Bastion Gallery!

Our style is laid back and relaxed. We love good food and the left bank area is a gourmet district with lots of great restaurants and pubs. You definitely won't go hungry here. Ireland's Oldest Bar is just down the hill. There is music most evenings. Close by, McGuire's Bar boasts over 100 craft beers.

The beautiful river Shannon is just at the end of the street. The imposing and enormous stone castle built by King John in 1210 majestically guards the river crossing.

In 1691 the area was besieged by the armies of King William of Orange in a battle with King James for the English throne. Thirty thousand cannon balls were fired across the river in the barrage that ensued. We have one of them!

The nearby Luan Gallery hosts great exhibitions throughout the year.
