More info re. neighbourhood (see also Guidebook):
Chiswick is a leafy, pleasant suburb in West London, located on the north side of the River Thames, 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Charing Cross. Historically an ancient parish in the county of Middlesex, with an agrarian and fishing economy. The name 'Chiswick' originates from 'Cheese Farm'; the riverside meadows and farms that are thought to have supported an annual cheese fair on Dukes Meadows until the eighteenth century. It is a thriving centre which acts as a focal point for the surrounding residential areas with easy access to an enormous range of amenities. Perfect for people interested in gentle walks in the parks and rowing on the Thames, as well as for those interested in a place rich in history and culture or with simply fabulous connections to the hustle and bustle of the Big Smoke.

The amenities within walking distance of the property include several award winning independent shops, boutiques, high street shops, traditional pubs, bars, cafes, restaurants (we even have a couple of Michelin stars!) banks, a post office, numerous salons, modern health and medical centres and excellent sporting and leisure facilities and auction houses, all within an active community with many societies, associations etc. Best of all you get to come back to a lovely home at the end of the day!

Places of local architectural interest include Chiswick House and Gardens (a fine example of Palladian architecture), as well as numerous local civic and church buildings, historic public houses, and period mansion blocks. The property itself is a Grade 2 Listed house in Bedford Park (the world's first Garden Suburb in the 1880's by Architect Richard Norman Shaw in the Queen Anne Style).

Chiswick has superb transport links including buses, underground and mainline railway services. The house is 2mins walk from Turnham Green underground station (Zone 2, District line). Tube 15 minutes to the Museum Quarter, 20 mins to Central London. Buses direct to Piccadilly via Westfield, Holland Park, Notting Hill, Bayswater, Hyde Park and Oxford Street as well as to Camden, Hammersmith and a multitude of other destinations. Easy access to the A4, M4, M25, and M40. 20 mins drive to Heathrow and 20 mins drive to Central London. Plus various taxi services etc.

  • Mrs. To and her flat were wonderful! She made me feel welcomed, and the room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. Mrs. T is very kind and helpful, and is always willing to help as long as you communicate with her. Do not stay here if you are going to be some wild and crazy party hard guest, as Mrs. T deserves respect and professional guests. The only thing to be aware of are the three flights of stairs to the room. If you have heavy luggage beware. I would definitely stay here again!

  • The neighborhood was very nice and quiet there was a bus that would take you into town literally steps from the door and the tube was right around the corner. I felt very safe here, even when I had to leave early in the morning. Very comfortable room with lots of light. The loft is open at one end, but it didn't bother me, it was very quiet. Mrs. T was a very nice hostess.

  • BE SURE NOT TO ARRIVE AT THE DOOR SO LATE
My flight got me in Stansted Airport by 9pm, so it was nearly 11pm when I arrived at Mrs.T's. At first she wouldn't open the door, but after a few more tryouts she finally did, and scowled at me for arriving so late and making so much noise so deep in the night, which I still don't understand..

IF YOU WANT AT LEAST A BIT OF PRIVACY THIS IS NOT FOR YOU
This isn't exactly a 'room', it's an open area above Mrs.T's living room with no doors. So because Mrs.T is so sensitive towards me making any sound, I felt like I couldn't even breathe in this house, there's no door to block any kind of sound I make!
+ I had to use the bathroom with the door open (something's broken or something)

    OTHER THAN THAT..
-the location is very convenient, can get easy access to the tube station/ bus station
-Mrs. T is very talkative, but I'm sure it could be in a good way if she's in the mood

  • Mrs T's flat was impeccable and VERY convenient. There is one bus (24hrs) that goes all the way to Oxford Street and Notting Hill Gate, and the tube literally one minute walk away. Mrs T is lovely and very sweet. I highly recommend the flat for single travellers to London.

  • I had a very good experience staying at the guest house. The apartment is very nice, cozy and clean. It looks exactly like in the picture. The place is very close to the tube station and bus stops. It is easy to get to the center of London. Mrs T. is very friendly, warm and helpful.

  • The location is wonderful, a lovely part of London and very close to the district line tube so access to the city centre is easy. I noticed the advertisment stated a shared kitchen, but when I enquired about this to Mrs T, she indicated that it was not, not even for making tea. The room is very light and airy with excellent internet access and the open plan loft space provides visual privacy, but if you want a secure sense of your own space, this may not be for you.

  • I had a nice stay in a nice place. The area is great with a park, a pub with a great fish&chips and the tube station around the corner. The room is bright and cosy with a nice selection of books and I was warmly welcomed.
