Apartment - Entire home/apt · Shad Thames, London, England SE1, United Kingdom

The Space

I'm offering my apartment on London's historic Shad Thames, with views down towards Canary Wharf and a short walk from Tower Bridge. It's available for stays of five days or more from the middle of May onwards .

It's hopefully a perfect location if you want to see the key sights in London. Shad Thames itself is a gem - the old spice wharves and wharehouses often connected by high level metal walkways and balconies, many with the original iron cranes still in place. My flat is right next to the Design Museum on Shad Thames, from the river bank outside the Museum you get fantastic views of Tower Bridge.

Walk a few minutes up past the famous Le Pont de la Tour restaurant you can cross Tower Bridge to visit the Tower of London or St Katherine's Dock and be minutes from the City of London if you are here for business. You can get on the tube or the Docklands Light Railway there.

Staying on the south bank of the Thames you are at the Mayor's Building five minutes from the flat and can then walk down the increasingly trendy Bemondsey Street, visit the cool new White Cube gallery or food taste at Borough Market under London Bridge. From there you can walk along the south bank passing the Southwark Cathedral, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, the Millenium Bridge to St Paul's Cathedral, The National Theatre, The British Film Institute, the London Eye etc right up to Westminster Bridge and Big Ben.

If you don't fancy a walk you can get the visitor-friendly RV1 bus from Tower Bridge Road and go along the river and over Westminster Bridge to Covent Garden. Or get on the Jubilee Line or Northern Line at London Bridge Station - where you can also get overground trains to Gatwick Airport, Brighton etc. There is a Boris Bike stand two streets from the flat as well.

Back to the accomodation itself. The newly decorated flat has big windows and a balcony that has views right down the River Thames to Canary Wharf. There's a bed and plenty of room in the main bedroom. There is a sofa, but no bed, in the other bedroom so there is plenty of room for luggage. The bathroom has been remodelled and has a walk-in shower and bath. The kitchen has most of the things you are likely to need and the living/dining room is I hope very comfortable. I also have a great cleaner so it will be very clean and the key selling points are the location, the balcony and the view of the Thames. The building also has 24 hour porters at the front desk and CCTV cameras all round so visitors can hopefully feel very safe and comfortable while they are here.

Finally, while guests are in the flat I will be staying ten minutes away just across the River Thames so can hopefully answer any questions etc.

  • If you are are a group of 2-3 people looking for a nice place to stay in central London, Neil's flat is definitly a great choice! The location is really lovely! The next tube station is not right next door, but the 6-7 minute walk is an attraction on its own as you will pass famous places like the London Dungeon, Tower Bridge or Shad Thames. The flat itself was clean and has a nice modern bath room. We did not use the kitchen, but I think there is everything one could need. Neil was very kind, flexible and everything was well prepared for our arrival. Go for it!

  • We stayed at Neil's place last week of October and it was a fabulous weekend. It was special because it was a 1st anniversary for us, and it was a great choice. Neil met us, showed us around and gave us the keys. The flat is lovely, lots of heating, fridge had fresh milk (although we brought our own) and the views are fantastic. It's also extremely quiet. I would highly reccomend Neil and the flat to anyone! Thank you Neil for a lovely anniversary weekend, Hilary and Reg.

  • Our stay at Neil's apartment was excellent. The location was terrific, we had already stayed at W1 location and wanted to experience something different, Very close to the river with access within walking distance to London Eye, in fact we walked all the way along the river to Grosvener Place (near Buckingham Palace) to visit my daughter. London Bridge underground and Borough Markets about 10-15 minute walk.
The apartment was terrific, large and fully set out, with a spare room to lodge our cases. A nice community atmosphere with some lovely restaurants and cafes and pubs a stroll away. Tower Bridge and access across the river just 5 minutes walk. Neil was great and made us feel very welcome and at home in his apartment. There was terrific central heating which was very welcome as it was a little cool at the time of our visit. The porter on the door was a bonus, as we didn't have to worry so much about keys, and they were both very friendly and helpful. Nice to chat to. The bathroom was fabulous - lovely hot water and a nice big bath. Bed was very comfortable and the doona was very warm. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay in Neils apartment and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting London. Thanks Neil.

  • As soon as I stepped in I felt at home. Neil's flat was just perfect for my needs. The bedroom was nice and spacious, and I could use the second one to leave my luggage, so no mess around. The kitchen is functional and nothing is missing, even the food mixer for my 9 months baby was kindly provided and I could cook just like at mine. The best part of the flat is the view and the balcony if you're lucky as I was with the weather. Location is also very good although you have to walk a bit if you want to take the tube.
The walk -in shower was a good start of the day!
    Thank you Neil,

  • Neil was an excellent host! Immediately he made us feel welcome and provided us a 2 page description of everything we may need as well as following up with an email of more helpful information, sites to see, etc. Just after arriving he walked us through everything. He even went to the extent to let the doorman know who we were and to expect us. It was very helpful to know that there was a supermarket just around the corner and where the weekend markets were in the city as we stayed in for a few meals. We enjoyed all of the comforts of home. Everything from wireless internet, TV if you wish and laundry. This was very good to have as had been traveling for a few weeks and needed to do some laundry by this time. The location was amazing. There is a nice terrace overlooking the Thames River and Shad Thames Wharf. Every room has expansive, operable windows with a view to the river. We enjoyed watching the tide rise and fall as we would come and go throughout the day. It was very near the London Tower Bridge and an easy walk with an enjoyable River Walk along the South Bank. There was a close metro stop just across the Tower Bridge, though we ended up walking to most destinations. The city is very easy to explore afoot. The apartment is about as safe as you can get. There is a lobby with a door man to let you gain access and with the apartment being a few stories above the water there is no access except through the main lobby. Again, Neil was very helpful and provided many useful bits of knowledge for our stay. We would recommend this host to anyone!

  • I recently stayed at Neil's Apartment in Central London for 3 days during the London Paralympics 2012 , - I must stay that everything was just perfect, The Location is Amazing with a view across London's skyline, very well connected to all of London's travel networks, DRL, tube, riverboat services and national rail to just list a few.

As a Host, Neil was extremely helpful and wonderful in regards to arranging flexible checkin and out times and a personal tour of his apartment on checkin, He also provided a wonderful collection of books and magazines on the local area to help plan our stay in the city

Couldn't have asked for anymore, What a wonderful time, Hope to stay again soon, : )

  • Neil was a very caring Host made us feel very welcome indeed, everything was perfect with the Apartment, We love Shad Thames and the Apartment is in the best location, being right on top of every thing you could need to see and do, Home From Home, peaceful and charming with wonderful views so enjoyed waking up to the sound of the Thames with the swans and birds. Very comfortable Lounge and Bed with lots of Pillows should you need them.
The balcony gives you a lovely outside space even if it raining, we enjoyed breakfast outside watching the boats up and down the Thames.

  • Neil is a wonderful and caring host. He welcomed me personally at my arrival and was in contact with me via sms during my stay at his flat. He was very helpful and informative as regards places to visit in the neighbourhood, like the picturesque markets of Borough and Maltby Street, where we had coffee together one morning. Neil's flat is the perfect place to stay in London: it's very central, near Tower Bridge and very well connected to the whole city, as it is close to two Tube stations, London Bridge and Bermondsey. Even though you are right in the middle of the action, the flat is in a quiet position, along a very characteristic dock...I used to wake up in the morning to the sound of ducks and seagulls outside in the water, and from the balcony I could see Canary Wharf in the distance!! The flat has everything you may possibly need during your stay, including wifi connection...A beautiful and comfortable flat in one of the most charming and delightful areas in London...will certainly come back! Thanks again Neil!!!
