The space
You’ve never camped like this! Our hand-built yurt sits snugly surrounded by towering pine and aspen with unmatched privacy and quiet. Perfect for couples or small groups, our yurt is furnished with a comfy queen bed, wi-fi, refrigerator, microwave, and electricity throughout. Creating a memorable, one-of-a-kind North Shore getaway begins with lodging at Turtle Hare Farm + Stay.

On our 16.5-acre farm, the yurt sits in a private meadow a short 300-foot walk from the parking area. A cart is provided for you to transport your luggage. The yurt is nestled in the woods meaning you may experience elements of nature, bugs, and wildlife.

A shower is available at the bathroom in the main house between 9:00am and 7:00pm. This shower is shared with us, the hosts, however it is closed off for guest use only between 9:00am and 7:00pm. Towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided.

Inside the yurt is a camp sink consisting of a refillable 6-gallon tank that provides potable hot and cold water that is safe to drink. There is also a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and French press.

30 steps uphill from the yurt sits the clean, well-lit, private privy.

Our property borders the beautiful Encampment River and there are over a mile of trails through our woods and meadows. Being located on a dead-end road means you’ll enjoy peace, quiet, and seclusion. Outside the yurt sits locally-made outdoor furniture and a fire ring where you are welcome to cook (there is not a grill piece to the fire ring) or just cozy up and enjoy a bright campfire. Firewood is provided during your stay.

The sauna is located near the main house. It has a wood-burning stove, small entry room/changing area, a ladle and bucket for water, indoor water spigot, and three benches set at different heights.

We do not provide a TV but there is fast and strong wifi throughout the yurt and farm. There is also a fun collection of games, coloring books, local magazines, and books.

We met doing theatre in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota and have been soulmates ever since. We love nature, the arts, adventure, and our pets. We own Turtle Hare Farm, a small garlic & vegetable farm dedicated to inspiring others through sustainable farming and slow living. When traveling we always choose Airbnb for our stays and often cook our own meals in the places we stay. This has given us a good sense of what guests need for a comfortable experience. We hope you feel rested and rejuvenated after your stay with us!
