Our Most Romantic Get Away! Our newly built screen-cabin is tucked into a pleasant opening in the jungle, overlooking a 500 acre ranch, giving a panoramic view of the coastline.
Awesome! Enjoy amazing pink and red sunrises over a wide swath of ocean to the East, while basking in the gentle trade-wind breezes coming through the trees.
This cabin is as open and airy as you can get; has a comfortable queen size bed; spacious lanai (deck) and it's own, almost like a tree-house, bathroom lanai about 30 feet (10M) away -- complete with flush toilet, a hot shower, and vanity sink -- all semi-enclosed, but still private, up in the branches of primitive looking Lauhala trees.
The Share Kitchen / Social Area is an easy 100 feet stroll along our level driveway. Hi-Speed Wifi is available.
Our spacious and open ten acre property is surrounded by a buffer of tall jungle and features 150+ trees with 30 or so kinds of tropical fruit. You're welcome to help yourself to the freshest fruit possible whenever they're ripe!
Swimming is half a mile away at Isaac Kepo'okalani Hale Park, one of the few safe places for swimming on this rugged, extremely scenic, coast.
A body-temperature warm-pond park is just a mile further, as well as excellent snorkeling in the large, wave-protected, Kapoho Tide Pools, with dozens of corals and thousands of brightly colored tropical fish to keep you fascinated for hours.
The nearly constant lava-flow area is just half an hour to the West of us, and perfect for a sunset, or sunrise, hike where you'll often see a cascade of red-hot lava plunging 50 or 60 feet into the boiling ocean below. Truly awesome! A peak experience for most of our guests.
Shopping, a natural foods market, and delicious restaurants are 15 minutes away in Pahoa Town. Several large Farmer Markets operate on the weekends too.
Our Teak Meditation Pavilion was made in Bali and is, to us, a very holy and special place for prayer and reflection. We don't preach, or otherwise "reach out"...., it's simply there if you would like some peace and tranquility - which is, as most people tell us, our main product. :-)

My husband and I loved staying at the Ocean Vista. The cabin feels secluded as it is surrounded by tropical foliage, but it is also conveniently located only footsteps from the well graded access road. The ocean views are outstanding, and the back deck is a great place to relax and stargaze. At night, the love calls of innumerable frogs create the feeling of tranquility that comes from being surrounded by nature. Guests are offered use of the a beautiful and secluded meditation building as well as a communal kitchen. The cabin itself is well built and dry despite strong overnight rains during our visit. The bed is firm and comfortable. There is a private bathroom and shower about 50 ft away along a lighted path. Both were clean and the water was hot. The location is ideal for visiting the nearby thermal pools at Isaac Hale and Ahalanui parks, both of which are within about 20 minutes drive. In summary, the cabin was outstanding. Those who are interested in eco tourism, meditation, or just searching for a unique experience will be rewarded by their visit.
This place is wonderful! It felt like we were living right out in the middle of the jungle but the wonderful screens kept all the unwanted bugs out. The sunrises over the beach were beautiful to wake up to. The rain on the roof was peaceful to fall asleep to. This cabin is in a small community of other cabins where the hosts and workers there were very nice and friendly which created a very homey atmosphere. The host made sure to give us a nice tour when we arrived. This cabin was far enough away from other cabins though to be very private as well. The private shower was awesome as it's open right out into the jungle on one side and the other side has plenty of covering to hide you. They have good tips of where to visit in the surrounding areas. You can also pick fresh fruit from the trees! They have a community kitchen too where you can store food in the fridge and cook on the stove.
Now one thing we didn't think of because we've never been to a jungle before are the creatures. I can only speak for the beginning of February when we were there, but there were tons these very loud chirping frogs that came out at night so that was hard to sleep to. There were also spiderwebs everywhere blocking your path, but they give you a broom to clear them out which wasn't hard to do.
The word is Glamping - a blend between glamorous and camping. This cabin has a gorgeous sunrise and fantastic trade winds coming in off the ocean. The air is fresh and the breezes are lovely. There is a private outdoor bathroom with a flushable toilet, vanity and shower. The cabin has electricity and a couple of lamps. They are off grid and very conservative with the available resources. A short walk from this jungalow is the open air kitchen area, complete with everything you need to make great meals. The meditation pavilion is craftsman quality and the landscaping is nice. There are lots of opportunities for interesting conversation. There are tons of spiders, webs, mosquitos, wasps, geckos and coqui frogs, so if you're terrified of any of the above, this place isn't for you. The road to kmec is breathtaking and there is a cool coffee place, The Tin Shack, 15 minutes away in Pahoa. The warm pond nearby is special and overall the area is very quiet and restful.
Beautiful place! I definitely recommend it for anyone wanting some relaxation and quiet time. The cabin was super clean and private. It has it's own private walkway and bathroom:) Leonard was also a great host. My husband is a mosquito magnet and since we there there during a couple of rainy days we needed a mosquito net. We talked to Leonard about it and he happily got us a net. Thanks Leonard!
I was so pleasantly surprised when I arrived here! The owner has several rental cabins and a beautiful open air kitchen. Everything was clean and aesthetically pleasing. And everyone who greeted me was open and friendly.
I can't wait to recommend this place to my friends - a hidden gem. Quiet, beautiful, easy, comfortable. I will have to remember to bring food next time - so I can utilize the kitchen!
