Sam and Pete have a corner of paradise! The farm extends for miles of hilly hiking, the beach is calm and sandy, and the charming farmhouse and grounds make it hard to leave. They were great hosts, and very accommodating of a surprise friend joining me for my stay. I look forward to coming back.

Sam and Pete are generous hosts with an absolutely lovely home. I so appreciated the quiet of being down the end of a dirt road. I definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed 3 amazing and relaxing days with Sam and Pete. We felt welcomed and at home as soon as we arrived. The house is extremely clean and comfortable, it has been nicely updated while still keeping it's 1930's charm. The dinners we had with Sam and Pete were some of the best that we had in New Zealand and this is coming from two food snobs. I would describe Sam's cooking as comfort food, but done right. Very clean cooking and using very fresh produce (much of which came out of their own garden) We were also treated to some of their lamb that that also raised. We were also able to take advantage of the beach, kayaking and a guided trip on horseback, all of which provided spectacular views. I would highly recommend staying here, if you want to get off the beaten track and truly stay like locals. We will definitely go back and stay here on our next trip to New Zealand!! Thanks again guys for a great 3 days.

Wow! It is hard to believe that this is a farm when you wake up at such a beautiful little beach. Sam makes sure you have everything you need, and breakfast was wonderful. My wife and daughter collected mussels at the beach for our lunch. That was a highlight of our stay in New Zealand. Thanks for being so friendly.

Absolutely perfect! This was exactly what I was looking for- peace and quiet and beautiful scenery. I needed to work for a bit while there, and the internet connection was excellent and could not have had a better view to work from. :) Sam and Pete are both great hosts. Room was clean and plenty of space for 2 people, three if you don't have a ton of luggage would be just fine. Bed was comfortable. Facilities clean. Also had dinners with them which were very filling and delicious. Conversations were great, and both made an effort to be engaging hosts while also allowing for whatever space you needed. I wish i'd had more time to take a horse trek and or hike around the area, but I'm hoping to get back to visit on my next time through NZ. Looking forward to recommending to others as well!

Wow. I could not think of a better way to kick off our adventure holiday in New Zealand. The area is magical and well worth the drive, and Sam and his family/friends met us with a warm welcome in that casual style that I love about New Zealand. There were loads of things to do, our favorite of which was to follow the various trails through the tussock-covered hills around the property along ocean-view cliffs amongst free-roaming sheep. The beach is a stone's throw away from the house, which allowed for an invigorating walk before breakfast... which was delicious. We opted to have dinner with the family, which was a great choice - the food was delicious and the company entertaining. The house is lovely, but my 2 sisters and myself chose to sleep in the "sleep out" - a small cottage just behind the main house. The shower and toilet occupy the same building as the "sleep out", but that added to the fun camp feeling of the place. The morning before our departure, we had a tour of the farm, with enlightening explanations of farm operations. Our only regret is that we couldn't spend another night or two. I will definitely return the next time I am in the Christchurch area, and I highly recommend this BnB to anyone looking for a relaxing way to disconnect and reconnect with the land and nature.

Lovely place, great location with private beach, sea view and lots of animals around. Sam took me on a farm tour - great piece of land he has. Sam and Pete were very open, friendly and helpful while allowing a lot of privacy. Great Dinner and conversation...

We are a farming family, relatively new to the Diamond Harbour area and relishing the new challenge it brings. My partner Pete and I farm over 700 ewes, 2-tooth replacements, various amounts of lambs and breeding rams, 30 head of cattle, 11 horses, about 10 chickens for free egg…
