The space

Enjoy the city like a local parisian, while staying in one of the most authentic and vibrant neighbourhoods in Paris.

The flat is located at the heart of the trendy Marais district and a few steps away from Place des Vosges, art galleries, local bistros, restaurants and places to going out. Hotel de Ville and Ile de la Cité (Notre Dame) are a quick walk from the flat.

It has a gorgeous view of the Sacre Coeur at Montmartre and it is close to transportation: metro is just a few minutes away and it can quickly take you to main tourist attractions: L'Opéra, Eiffel tower and Champs Elysées (direct metro line).

The flat is very luminous, calm, fully furnished and it is completely equipped (WI-FI, bedlinen, towels, washing machine, dishwasher, heater, and there's everything in the kitchen to cook your own home made meals, while enjoying a tasty local wine and overlooking the Sacre Coeur...). It can accomodate up to 4 people (a double bed in a separate bedroom and a sofa for two in the living room). It is located on the 6th floor of a historical building (no elevator, but I can help take your luggage up - and groceries can also be delivered!). It is located 60 minutes away from Charles de Gaulle Airport (RER B and Metro lines 8, 5 and 1).

One or more weeks at my flat would allow you to:
- visit the cultural sights of the city (Place des Vosges, Eiffel tower, Champs Elysées, L'Opéra, Ile de la Cité, Louvre, Centre Georges Pompidou, etc).
- live like a parisian: start the morning reading a newspaper while having a café and a freshly baked croissant or a pain au chocolat in a nearby coffee place.
- do some shopping in the trendy boutiques of the neighbourhood.
- visit the art galleries in the neighbourhood.
- keep in shape: bike around the city using the local biking system velib.
- improve your french through a one week (or more) language course at l'alliance francaise. Pourquoi pas??

There are many reasons to visit Paris, but one of the most important aspects of your trip is to feel comfortable at the place where you'll stay!

If you are an easy-going and respectful person,
if you are looking for a calm and harmonious flat,
and you are sure that you will respect my neighbours and the house rules, then this is the perfect place for you!!!
I will be happy to share my home
with you!

à bientôt!!

The apartment was in a prime location with tons of local restaurants and shops walking distance away. We loved how convenient the apartment was to metros too. We were able to see tons of Paris in a short period of time!

Umberto's place was just as he described it; it's in the quieter side of the La Marais neighborhood which was great. My husband and I had a wonderful stay. Umberto was super easy to communicate with prior to our arrival as well as the entire duration of our stay. He went out of his way to check our heater even though it was our fault the water heater wasn't working (we turned the heater off which affected the water heater, oops!). PS- those 6 flights of stairs are no joke! But it did help work off the baguettes and foie gras consumed earlier in the day.

Umberto was such a lovely man. Very personable, offered loads of suggestions for nearby shops / restaurants / scenic places. The 6 floor walk up is quite a doozy but if you're in shape, it's really no problem as the stairs themselves hold so much history and beauty. The view of Sacré-Couer is worth it alone. Would absolutely recommend this spot for the price!

My stay at Umberto's place was fine. His housekeeper, Amparo, really made the stay wonderful—she doesn't really speak French, but we still managed to communicate. She's absolutely charming and corrected a rocky start. I found Umberto personally frustrating to deal with—I had said precisely the time we would arrive after our train, and he insisted that my estimate on how long it takes to get from the train station was wrong, pushing back this arrival time by the precise extension of 25 minutes. Even after many years of living in Paris, I didn't debate what he said, but of course we arrived when I first expected and sure enough had to wait to enter the apartment. It wasn't the end of the world, but rather bizarrely controlling on his part. In any case, the apartment is clean and in an excellent location. The many flights of stairs are a nucance, but his price is a steal for the neighbhorhood. I would not stay again, but did not leave feeling negative about the experience at all.

Response from Umberto:
Thank you for your comment Winston, I am glad Amparo made your stay wonderful!. Concerning your remarks about coordination of arrival times, for your info, I calculated your arrival time from the train station taking into consideration (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps intineraries, this to make sure your arrival times was coordinated the best. I make all possible to make my guests feel like at home and I am very pleased to know that many guests come back a second and a third time! I wish you all the best.

Each morning at Umberto's place, I sat at the head of the kitchen table, sipped my coffee and nibbled (more liked devoured) my new-favorite pastry, the bichon au citron, all the while glancing out the window at a view of Sacré-Coeur. At the end of each day, I looked forward to climbing the six flights of stairs and, then, opening the door into a quiet sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. His apartment felt like home away from home. To top the experience off, was the graciousness and hospitality of Umberto. Outstanding stay. I hope to return, but next time longer.

Cozy place in a great location for being away from the traditional tourist trail. Umberto is a detailed communicator and went out of his way to make sure everything was easy for us.
