Other Things to Note
There is a car park at the beginning of the 600 metre footbridge to Civita. I advise parking under the bridge.
I kind of want to keep this one a secret... but I can't.... this place was incredible and easily the best place we have stayed on AirBnB!
Marceli's house is right in the main square inside the old village. At night time we felt like we had the whole town to ourselves. If you can, time it so that you stay during the week to avoid the rush on weekends.
Marceli was easy to chat to via the phone as he wasn't there during our stay. The best tip I can give you is to mention Marceli's name wherever you go because everyone in the town seems to know and love him!
Marceli's place is perfect to get the real experience of staying in this beautiful little village. The parking that is provided is very useful, the house is beautiful and communication was great throughout. I would certainly recommend this house to my friends.
Marceli is one of the nicest men we've ever met! He was a wonderful host and took great care to make sure we felt special and welcome during our stay in Civita. He was available for any questions or recommendations (even weeks before we arrived!) and is a great communicator throughout the process.
Once we arrived, he even showed us around the town a bit (there was a festival going on, so we shared some local festival foods and Sardinian wine and cheese from another of the vendors)! Marceli was very knowledgeable of the town, spoke great Italian and English, so he made a fabulous tour-guide there, and even helped us with out-of-Civita sight-seeing ideas for the following day!
OH, and he made us breakfast, including cappuccino and fresh-squeezed orange juice!
And all that is to say nothing about his magical, historical home with it's compelling Etruscan roots! Of course, the pictures tell as accurate a story of the space as possible and are what lured us there in the first place, but there's just so much beauty and charm in person that it would be impossible to capture it all in photos. And the view—both from the foot-bridge toward Civita and from the windows of his home in Civita—is incredible!
We highly recommend Marceli and his enchanting home, and have every intention of returning there one day, ourselves. :) Hopefully soon!
Thanks for everything, Marceli! If we had medals to award, you'd have gold!
It was very nice of Marceli who greeted us with warm welcome and nice accommodation in his special renaissance apartment. We were late for our estimated arrival time, but he still waited us with patience. He also helped us find a restaurant for dinner. We shared happily in the morning before we left.
Also, we did enjoy the lovely town with awesome scenary and ancient buildings in the area.
We would recommend you to have a stay in Marceli's place.
The house is just volshebshy! like a fairy tale. Located in a historic setting on a hill. We arrived in the evening and immediately went for a walk. Nearby there is a nice homey restaurant. The house has everything you need. The house is fully equipped. It's very cozy. The owner made a comfortable living. Will come again!
