My family was thrilled with our stay at the cabin! Michelle and Tina were very quick in responding to any questions that we had. We stayed there during a very cold time to welcome in 2014. Even though it was freezing we did trek out on the marked trail for a bit to enjoy the area. We had a great time keeping busy with puzzles, games, listening to music, talking with great friends, and relaxing with good books. My two kids (ages 6 and 4) LOVED the cabin and everything we did. The stay was far too short for them, so they are already counting the days until we head up there in August. :) The most memorable moment for me was when I ran out to my car for something just after midnight on New Year's Eve. I paused for a moment to look up and just gasped at what I saw. The sky was clear and the stars seemed close enough to touch! I gathered a few others who were up and made them go out to see it, and they were also in awe... God is awesome! Thank you for the great memories! We can't wait to return to make more. :)
The cabin was extraordinary! Having arrived at night, we witnessed the moon shining down on the lake, a simple foreshadowing of the wonderful sights to be taken in around the property!
This cabin was stunning. I went up here with four of my friends for a getaway and we were all blown away by how beautiful the nature is up there. I had been to the U.P. several times before, but my friends hadn't and they were really amazed by it. Michelle and her property manager were so kind and helpful, and we were able to get a hold of them right away for anything we needed. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone. This is in my top favorite trips I've ever taken.
Thank you Michelle for sharing your cabin with us.The whole area was fantastic. We truly enjoyed the accommodations were all that was advertised. We went to Marquette viewing waterfalls boat trip on Superior, and just enjoyed nature on the lake. Fished every morning and evening catching pike and even had one for the guest of honor Friday night for supper. Yum! It was a blast watching the pine squirrel and grey jays eating peanuts off the deck railing. Also watched a wood duck on the lake. This hopefully will not be the only time we visit this paradise in Michigan. Thanks again for the rental . Jeff and Deanna
AWWW thank you so much...I am blessed to know you had such a nice time. God is so Good...isn't He...it is truely a blessing to share this piece of paradise in Michigan with you. May you return in a different season...Winter is such a wonderland up there...God Bless you both Jeff and Deanna
The cabin is very nice and located in the Central UP, near Republic. I had not been to Republic in 30 years since I was a kid, and really not much has changed. The cabin is located on a beautiful lake, with canoes and boats that you can use. Also there is a fire pit, fishing pier and swimming raft---so really there is a lot to do at the cabin to keep you occupied. My son enjoyed frog hunting and raspberry picking---and managed to find the tree house which is set back a good distance in the woods. If you are looking for a peaceful week decompressing, this is an excellent choice. As side trips I would reccomend a visit to Presque Isle and jump off the cliffs for a swim, and on your way back to the cabin grab a Pasty from Lawry's in West Ishperming. You can be an honoray yooper only if you eat the whole pasty "with rutabaga" and never addd gravy! Maybe only Ketchup. Overall, great trip!
We had a wonderful time. This place was wonderful. The kids loved play on the sandy beach and taking the boats out in the lake. Our son became and expert Frog catcher. It was close (with in 50 minutes) to marquette which had all the modern conveniences and sights. Iron Mine in Iron mountain to the south was worth the drive too. Very quiet and peaceful. Our best vacation yet.
The cabin is exactly as pictured - very beautiful, roomy, and comfortable! We only wished our stay could have been longer. Michelle was extremely helpful and very easy to reach and communicate with. Thank you for allowing us to share a piece of something that has obviously brought your family many wonderful memories. The only draw back - and there is only 1 - is the driveway to the cabin was extremly difficult this early in the year. Each time we came and went we feared getting stuck in the mud. If you have a SUV or 4 WD it's probably a piece of cake, but for a little Hyundai Elantra it was a real challenge! Otherwise, absolutely fabulous. Thank you again.
Our trip started off with a miscommunication between the property manager and Michelle. The property manager was not aware that we were going to be arriving at the cabin and we couldn't get a hold of her to get the keys. I was impressed and grateful for how quickly Michelle reacted and within a short period of time, we were able to access the cabin. The cabin was still a little dirty from the previous couple who had stayed there but it wasn't too bad.
We really loved playing air hockey in the basement and loved the view. The cabin was cozy and a great place to go to after our long days outside. We would certainly love to come back some day in the summer and really take advantage of the lake. Overall the cabin is an amazing place and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice, relaxing getaway.
Thank you so much Aime for your honesty and patience with the miscommunication...I am so glad you enjoyed the cabin...as I love to share the beauty that God created for all up in the UP...We thank you for your kind words...and if you want to book for the summer, please book soon as I just filled in 3 more weeks for this summer. Blessings!!!
Wow. What an incredible experience we had staying at the cabin. This is the kind of place that fairy tales are made of and was the perfect getaway for complete isolation and relaxation. Five of us headed up to the cabin for about a week in the wilderness for the start of February, and it was some of the most pristine land that we could have imagined . The trees glistened with snow and the frozen lake was covered with a white blanket of fresh snow as well. The fireplace kept us warm (as well as the indoor heating) and was fully stocked with chopped wood outdoors. Both Michelle and the property caretaker Tina were extremely friendly and communicative before, during, and after our trip, and we were very glad to have found this gem in Republic Township, Michigan. We were able to hike through the snowy woods and admire the stars at night, as well as spend a good deal of time in the game room playing carpetball and air hockey. The town of Republic had a great little restaurant that we ate at for breakfast and we were also able to make the trip to Marquette (about 45 minutes away) to explore the surroundings there (Brewery, stores, hike up Sugarloaf mountain). This is the perfect location for a winter getaway and we would come back in a heartbeat. We are looking forward to returning to this area and would love to stay here again! Can't recommend the cabin any more!!
Thank you so much for staying at the cabin, I am so glad you enjoyed your experience in God's country....Up North...we wish you well and safe travels in life and hope for you to return to experience the fireflies at night and the dragonflies at day...sipping wine on the deck watching the sunset...blessings!!!
My husband and I (along with our dog) had a really wonderful time here for a few days after the new year! We spent the majority of our time just relaxing in the peaceful, pleasant cabin in front of the warm fire, but we also enjoyed cross-country skiing around the lake as well as a day trip to Lake Superior/Marquette. We actually ended up adding an extra night to our stay once we arrived and realized how great it was! Michelle and Tina were both so helpful throughout our stay, and I can't recommend this place more; we definitely plan on keeping this place in mind for future vacations for both ourselves and with our extended family!
