Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Bloodwood cabin is about stepping back both literally and figuratively. We encourage you to leave the WIFI and fast pace behind to reconnect with nature.

The fully sustainable eco-accommodation, offers elegant living with the bare necessities, including a bed, tea & coffee and fresh local produce and wine.

The cabin is located on 20 000 acres which is home to organic beef cattle - you may be lucky to spot some cattle or horses.

The space
The cabin offers camping, but without the hassle, and is a place to hideaway, to disconnect from reality and reconnect with the important things - like nature, each other and yourself.

Located on a hill far enough away from the main house, the cabin is secluded and private but with enough ease to get to from the main entrance. The cabin is located in the natural bushland where it shares the landscape with wallabies, kangaroos and native critters. We recommend closed in shoes if you are bush walking around the property and slip on's for easy access around the cabin. The gorgeous timber floors of the cabin are best suited to bare feet.

The electricity is run off a solar system and the hot water is gas. The water is from pumped by solar from underground. Enjoy a long soak in the bath tub with locally made bath salts or re-energise with a shower - both options available in the privacy of your bathroom. A small rainwater tank is on the side of the cabin and a water filter inside for drinking.

Parking is open air on natural uneven ground. Access to the cabin is one step up from timber and rock path. To access the bathroom is outside the main cabin door. A lit path, torches and lanterns are provided to guide your way. The bathroom has wide opening doors and a sunken bath which requires stepping down into, the shower is on level floor.

Within the cabin living quarters you will be comforted by beautiful linen bedding on a King size bed on the floor, easy chairs for an afternoon of reading, a fridge stocked with organic goods for breakfast (some home grown), wine and tea and coffee making items. Enjoy the beautiful handmade ceramics and indoor/outdoor enamel ware.

It's the perfect setting to detox technology, however if you require there is minimal Telstra service at the cabin and no Optus. There is a landline at the house available for emergencies and your hosts are always available if there's anything at all you need.

A BBQ and hotplate are also provided for el fresco dining under the stars or a home cooked breakfast listening to the sounds of nature. The kitchen facilities are outdoors and a extra large umbrella provides protection from sun and light rain.

We love rainy weather, however if it is pouring it can be challenging to eat outdoors and this is a perfect opportunity to snuggle inside and save the wash up for when the sun shines again!

Bonnie Doone is a working cattle property so there may be cattle moving, vehicles and motorbikes around. We try to minimise noise when guests are visiting, however some days there is activity.

We have working dogs and free ranging Maremma’s who are our guardian dogs. I want your stay to be tranquil and perfect - we absolutely minimise barking, however if you hear a peep during your stay please let me know and I can mitigate.

The cabin is quite a magical experience - the timber materials cradle you while resting and recharging. The expansive landscape is the backdrop for calming your mind and day dreaming about the beautiful life you are living.

Guest access
The roads are dirt but typically in good condition. If the weather is inclement we would suggest driving a vehicle with a higher profile just in case the roads are boggy.

Other things to note
Bloodwood Cabin is truly a glamping experience. Bring along all your unique requirements and enjoy the decadence and simplicity.

The experience is very indoor-outdoor and sometimes the weather can be rainy and stormy. We encourage guests to sit out storms indoors and we provide extra towels and mats if it is wet.

Guests are immersed in the natural landscape and the outdoor kitchen and bathroom offer up close connection to the elements.

Neighborhood highlights

'Bonnie Doone' is a working organic cattle property so at times there may be cattle moves, vehicles or seasonal burning of pasture.

We love making your stay as peaceful and private as possible in a clean and crisp environment. At times nature provides challenges with dry or wet weather - we work with the seasons. The Cabin is a gorgeous place to stay and experience the raw natural surroundings.

Monto is a quaint country town with the basics and a few surprises. Visit the Silo Art trail, four historic hotels, Old Rawbelle Cemetery 12 km from Bloodwood Cabin and of course Cania Gorge National Park.

The newest tourist attraction to the region is The Kalpower Tunnels along the Burnett Inland Rail Trail.
