About this listing
Unique town house in central Copenhagen with huge private roof top terrace, three floors living space, newly renovated and tastefully decorated. Private, quiet, yet just minutes from Trianglen, the lakes and bustelig café life.
We are renting out our fabulous old town house in central Copenhagen. The house is spacious and furnished with a mix of modern Scandinavian design and antiques. And what is more, it has a fantastic, huge private roof top terrace with sun all day!
The beautiful four storey house from the mid 19th century has seven rooms: two big living rooms (combined with dining room and study), a bedroom, a library/extra bedroom), bathroom with bath tub, extra toilet, kitchen and the basement contains an extra bedroom/exercise room with exercise bike and cross trainer. Every thing you need is right here! Because the house is situated between court yards and not right on the street, our house is very tranquil and you are sure to get an excellent nights sleep in the huge Tempur Pedic bed. The house is perfect for a couple, but also for a small family.
We are located in inner Østerbro, a quiet and safe part of Copenhagen, very close to the center of the city (10 min by bike or bus to Rådhuspladsen) with plenty of tempting shops (delicatessen, high street fashion, vintage fashion and Danish design), great restaurants (Famo Metro, Cofoco Le Marché, Fru Heiberg and the Michelin recommended Aamands) and park areas (Fælledparken, Kastellet, Søerne -" the Lakes") just outside the door. The neighbourhood is also rich in cafés (Riccos, Kafferiet and Den Franske Café) and bars (Bopa, Panzón). We even have a "city beach" at the near by habour and a "real" beach a mere 15 min. bus ride away.
A train will take you from the airport to Østerport Station in around 15 min. and from there a bus will take you the two last stops to Østerbrogade. Our house is just a 2 min. walk from the bus stop. All in all a 20-25 min. trip. Trains from Østerport will take you all over Copenhagen and beyond - one great trip is the beautiful ride along the Northern coast to the world renounced Louisiana Musuem of Modern Art in Humlebæk
We love our home, and we are sure you will love it too. A fantastic place to stay when in Copenhagen - if we may say so :-)
As a guest you have access to three floors of living space, a private roof top terrace and washing facilities in the basement (washing machine, dryer, ironing board etc.), but the rest of the basement is closed of for guests and used for storage.
Interaction with Guests
We will probably not be in town during your stay to help you in person, but we have a written guide to the house, are always within reach by e-mail or phone and in case of emergencies we have friends and family close by. We can arrange for friends or family to meet you when you arrive and help you get settled.
We are located in central Østerbro, one of the cental neighbourhoods of Copenhagen. We are minutes away from cafés, both laid back and more posh restaurants, bars and specialty shops offering artisan chesse, chocolate and wine. We also close to several recreational areas: "the lakes of Copenhagen", Fælledparken (a large parc) and the newly established city beach at Nordhavnen.
Busses run from outside our doorstep, Østerbro train station is 10 min. away by foot and easily accessed by bus. You can walk to central Copenhagen in 15-25 min. along the scenic lakes of Copenhagen. Trains from Østerport will get you to the airport, the world famous museum Louisiana north of Copenhagen and anywhere else you may wish.
Other Things to Note
The house is best suited for a couple and presently not for small kids as there are many steep stais in the house.
We want you to feel at home and to treat our home as your home. Please do not smoke inside the house and show respect for our furniture and things.

•Would definitely recommend for a stay in Copenhagen
We stayed at this fantastic townhouse in Østerbro for the entire month of July. It was an amazing place which quickly became a home-away-from-home for us. Spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed, it's difficult to imagine a more perfect base from which to explore all that Copenhagen has to offer.
The townhouse is located in the courtyard of an apartment building complex, which means that even though you are staying in the heart of Østerbro, just minutes away from the main transit arteries of Copenhagen, the townhouse is quiet and secluded most of the time (with the exception of the usual sounds one would expect from living in close proximity to people in other apartments in the middle of a big city).
We often felt like we were being transported via Dr. Who's Tardis when stepping through the doors of the serene courtyard and suddenly finding ourselves in the middle of bustling Østerbro - the contrast was startling!
Although there are many fabulous things about this townhouse, the location is key. It is right in the middle of trendy and posh Østerbro, with cafes, artisan ice cream shops, upmarket boutiques, wide avenues, convenient markets, and lots of scenic places to walk. Central Copenhagen is less than ten minutes away by fast and convenient public transit.
The townhouse has many stairs, which we found very charming (and which worked wonders on our leg muscles - you may skip the gym for the duration of your stay!) but it is definitely something to be aware of for anyone renting the place.
Although we never met Anne and Frederik, we found them to be lovely hosts. They were communicative, easy to get ahold of, accomodating and very helpful and they made our stay an absolute success.
Overall, a fantastic experience, and we would jump at the chance to stay at this lovely townhouse again.

About the Host, Anne
Hi I am Anne. My husband Frederik and I live in a townhouse in Copenhagen and we are both academics (working at the Faculty of Law of the University of Copenhagen and a Danish research institution for international politics, respectively). Every summer we spend two months in New York City and this is why we are on Airbnb - to find someone to enjoy our fantastic home, while we are away.
