Charming colourful room with 2 single beds, en-suite shower room and a balcony overlooking the central courtyard

The Space

Lovely bedroom with 2 separate single beds (not possible to put together) colorful cushions, a little balcony overlooking the patio, and an oriental bathroom with shower.
There are 5 other bedrooms in the Riad, all very different in style and size.
The riad, a traditional house built around an open patio with fountain and trees, is very peaceful.
You can relax on the roof terrace on a sun-lounger or in one of the tents, in the jacuzzi/pool, or hammam.
Moad, the 2 Rachidas and Hassan will welcome you warmly with a mint tea and local pastries and help you organise your stay in Marrakech.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the jacuzzi, hammam, central courtyard and rooftop terrace.

The Neighborhood

Our Riad is centrally situated, in the Medina (old town), in a quiet area, but only 2 minutes from buzzing pedestrian streets, lined with exotic looking shops, traditional workshops and laid-back cafés, that lead you to the souks (10 min) and the famous Djemaa El Fna square (15 min).

Getting around

There is a taxi rank less than 5 minutes from the riad.

Other Things to Note

There is a local tourism tax of 8Dh and a tourist promotion tax of 15Dh payable per guest per night at the property for all guests over the age of 12. This 23Dh charge per night per person is about €2.30

We would like to remind you that Morocco is a Muslim country, therefore as a mark of respect for its inhabitants it is highly recommended to avoid short dresses and shorts, as well as bare belly, low-cut tops, or anything too revealing (especially in the old city).
Also it is very inappropriate to eat or smoke in the street in the daytime during Ramadan (starting 28 June 2014 for 1 month)

  • This Riad was beautiful inside and outside. VERY close to all the markets and great attractions (2 minute walk). Rooms were clean and gorgeously decorated with a/c. Our dinner on the roof was fresh, and perfectly presented with good cocktails and wine (breakfast was yummy too along with the mint tea upon arrival and every afternoon). We both got Hammams and massages - a must if you decide to stay!! Be aware that there really is not any managers available on duty during the evenings - you have to plan things yourself, and they are hard to get ahold of. The night manager however was AWESOME, making sure you had whatever you needed.

  • I cannot recommend this riad highly enough. We had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. THANK YOU ALL!
I booked very last minute (the night before I arrived!) but the hosts responded to me right away by sending a very comprehensive confirmation e-mail and then following it up with a phone call (which was very efficient and helpful). Within an hour of booking I felt armed with all the information I would need for my arrival.
We requested an airport pick up and as we were going to be arriving kind of late we decided to have dinner cooked for us at the riad. Although the flight was almost half an hour late the driver was ready and waiting for us with a sign and spent the short journey to the riad by telling us a history of the main attractions in Marrakech. He was very friendly and helpful then when we parked as far as you can drive he helped us with the bags and walked us to the riad. Although it's down a number of windy little back streets (as any decent riad in Marrakech is) he taught us the handy trick that you just take the first left and then alternate every left and right until you get to the riad. We didn't get lost even once.
When we arrived I was taken aback by just how lovely the riad was. Although the photographs look amazing there's a lot that can be left between a good photograph and the real deal - this is not the case here. It is perhaps even more beautiful than the photographs and certainly more atmospheric.
Dinner was absolutely fantastic. Probably the best I had in Marrakech (even though we ate at Le Jardin, Souk Kafe and Terrace des Epices) and we were surprised to also have the option of beer and wine as last time I was in Marrakech we found it nearly impossible to procure any alcohol.
The room was just lovely - a good temperature (with a heater that we turned on a couple of times on the colder evenings) with a lovely little balcony overlooking the courtyard and a fabulous bathroom. The shower was just incredible. So hot and powerful. We were looking forward to using it every day and miss it now that we're home! The beds were large and comfortable (very hard but I like it like that) with nice good quality bedding. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We ate on the roof most days and it was glorious.
My only regret is that we didn't have more time to just enjoy lounging around the riad as there are a number of comfortable spots to chill out.
On the final day we hired the driver again to take us to the bahai palace before the airport and this was 30e.
All of the staff we encountered during our stay were so helpful and friendly. You will not regret choosing Riad O2.

  • This is a beautiful riad in the more quiet northern part of Marrakech, but still easy to walk to the main square. My partner had just broken both his feet and the people from the riad were very helpful on getting us there and looking after us during our 4 days stay. The rooms are large and tastefully decorated and Rachida's home cooking makes each evening something to look forward to ;) ... we want to steal her and take her home with us ;) Mouhad who looks after the riad is super professional, discreet and attentive! The only thing I thought was a little confusing is that the riad was promoted for 45 euro/night, but when you pay the bill it seems that the price was higher depending on the day and season, which made quite a difference ... Maybe airbnb can find a way that this is more clear on the front page? ... All in all highly recommended to stay here and please, when you are on the rooftop white couches, have a look over the wall behind you ... there is the sweetest little pup who needs some loving ;)

    Response from Marie&Hugues:

    Hello Vanessa,
Thank you for your kind comments. We are delighted you and your boyfriend enjoyed your stay at Riad O2, in spite of your partner's broken feet ( hope they are healing well). Our apologies for the confusion on the site regarding the price but as it was high season this higher price was applied. Best wishes to you both, Annette, Marie & Hugues.

  • We stayed at Riad O2 for 4 nights and it was great! We loved everything about the riad: the room, the breakfeast, the terrace, Rachida, Hassan and Rachida, just everything. However I agree it is a bit hard to find and for "common tourists" probably a little less complicated if the stay includes various nights. We needed about day to know our way around.
I would definetely recommend Riad O2 to anyone going to Marrakech!

  • A wonderful place to stay in a wonderful city. Clean and open and very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and filling. Eating under the open sky in the courtyard made for one of the most memorable and peaceful morning's of my life.

When I go back to Morocco, I'll be going back to Riad 02.

  • The touem room in Riad O2 is a comfortable room and the riad itself is also quite nice--tastefully decorated in a comfortable, "traditionally" Moroccan riad style with a lovely rooftop terrace. Personally, we were not big fans of the location, as I usually stay closer within the souqs and to djemma el-fna square when I stay in Marrakech and was taking a gamble with a place further out. It was fine to get there from the mosque once you figure that out (and unfortunately no one at the riad answered when we arrived and called, as they indicated they would in earlier communication) but getting to the mosque was more difficult--it was not as easy as I had thought to get to it and from the souqs without a guide. On the day we did go to the square and souqs with a guide from the riad to show us the way, we had problems getting back and our guide did not show up--leaving us to go back alone at dusk, eventually with the help (email hidden) who wanted a fair amount of money for his services (exactly what we'd hoped to avoid). If you have more time in Marrakech you'll have more time to learn but we were on a tight schedule, unfortunately, and didn't. You could also take a petit taxi from the mosque but of course that can add up (depending on your negotiation skills and how the taxi drivers are feeling that day!), especially if you planned on walking everywhere within the medina.

We did not meet Marie or Hugues but they were communicative and helpful in our correspondence leading up to our stay. For the most part, the staff was helpful, the breakfast good, and the riad nice but some of the issues during our stay really took away from our enjoyment of our time in Morocco.

  • We stayed some nights at this really beautiful place. The whole house is very nice and in a very good style. The staff is absolutely lovely and friendly...and the dinner is really good! A highlight for me was also the roof terrasse! I really would come back to stay some more time at Riad O2. It was a wonderful time in a very interesting town.

  • Riad totalement introuvable. Mais superbe. Le tajine de Rachida est bon mais un peu cher payé. On a prix une chambre à 49 EUR, mais payer plus cher n'aurait pas valu le coup.

  • I really did enjoy my time at your guesthouse. My room was comfortable, colourful, clean and bright. I slept peacefully.
I loved the breakfast and the relaxed and helpful manner of your staff.
The terrace was lovely, a perfect situation to wind down from a day around the souks and streets of Marrakech.
I feel your riad needs a little love, it is a bit worn in areas but over all the place if very nice for the price.

We are a French couple who fell in love with Morocco years ago. We then decided to buy a place in Marrakech. After a long period of renovation work, combining modern comfort, traditional material and our taste for design, we finally created our beautiful riad. We love going to the desert, sleeping in berber tents and listening to Touaregs playing drums and singing. We also enjoy meeting people and telling them about our favourite places to see and visit.
