The space

This is comfortable renovated 1880s home is a quite hamlet near the river. The first floor has a renovated kitchen (with Italian stove, dishwasher, good supplies) and a two part living room with small desk, piano, wood-burning stove, and smart television. There is a full bath with shower and washer/dryer on the first floor and a full bath with tub on the second. The house has 3 bedrooms on the second floor, two with queen beds and one child's room with a full size mattress. The attic, which is entered off the master bedroom, has two desks, two skylights, and several futons for extra guests. (This means that the house sleeps 6 in beds, 8-10 including futons--however anyone sleeping in the attic has to go through the master bedroom to get there.) There is wifi throughout the house. The house has a furnace for heat in winter and several air conditioners for hot weather. There is a front porch and a nice deck in the back garden which has an outdoor table for spring/summer and a gas grill that we use year-round. The back yard has a garden with small patio in the back of the yard. The back yard is gated for a dog. There is a driveway for off street park (this is plowed in winter).

The house has several kayaks (1 double, 3 single) for kayaking on the Hudson River or nearby. It has a wood burning stove and firewood for cold weather.

We are offering the full house for rent when we are not there. Two night minimum.

Rhinecliff is a lovely quiet hamlet within Rhinebeck, convenient to the river and the Amtrak station. It is 2 miles to the center of Rhinebeck, 8 miles from Bard, 15 miles to Hyde Park, 30 minutes to Catskills and Woodstock, 45 minutes to Hunter Mountain.

While the house is walking distance from the Amtrak station and the Rhinecliff Hotel, there are no local stores, just the post office, library, and the hotel which has a bar and restaurant that are occasionally closed for private events.

There are a dog and a cat in the house when we are in residence (not when it is rented). Even though the house is cleaned regularly, those with severe allergies may be affected.

Marita's place is great for a getaway from the city. The train ride from NYC takes about an hour and a half. It's a big house with a backyard only a short walk from the train station.

Photos were perfectly accurate, host was very clear and communicated well - nice to have a real kitchen on a weekend away, unlike any hotel! Several options for coffee making, too.
