Welcome to Eldridge Terrace, a one-of-a-kind 6-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom carriage house that blends historic character with modern luxury. Once home to carriage horses in the late 1800s and later a printing press, this residence has been masterfully transformed while preserving its original charm. Soaring wood beam ceilings, exposed brick walls, vintage pulley systems, and four wood-burning fireplaces tell the story of the building’s past across two expansive floors.

Every detail has been thoughtfully upgraded for contemporary living. The chef’s kitchen features Valcucine cabinetry, SubZero and Miele appliances, and opens to sun-filled interiors warmed by radiant heated floors. A 14-foot custom waterfall wall and fully integrated sound system add to the home’s modern comforts. At the top of the Moroccan-tiled spiral staircase, a private 1,500 square foot roof terrace awaits, complete with a landscaped garden, outdoor bar, wood-burning grill and fireplace, and its own sound system and a disco ball for effortless entertaining.

Tucked on a quiet block in the Lower East Side, this rare residence is surrounded by some of the city’s best restaurants, art galleries, and nightlife. With convenient access to nearby parks and public transit, it offers a striking mix of old New York soul and downtown energy.

As a reminder, smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property, in the home or in the outside areas of the home. Smoking will result in a odor removal fee of no less than $500 and up to $1,000 as well as possible removal from the property.

I couldn’t afford it at the time, but I kept dreaming about living there anyway. Two years later, after hundreds of hours of research, exhaustive brainstorming, endless complexities, five offers and considerable planetary alignment, the family agreed to sell and I found a way to close.
