Exceptional check-in experience

Recent guests gave the check-in process a 5-star rating.
Our traditional Mongolian yurt is located on pasture land at our home on the edge of the Galloway Forest, a Dark Sky Park. With sunset views in one direction & the peaks of the Southern Uplands in the other, enjoy the panorama or sit by the River Cree, which crosses our land. Relax in the wood fired hot tub, sauna & plunge pool (extra fee applies). 10 mins from Loch Trool, mountain bike trails, wild swimming spots & hiking routes, guests are perfectly placed to explore this unspoilt region.

The space
The yurt, handmade and ornately decorated in Mongolia, is cosy, richly furnished and romantic, featuring a wood burning stove, king size bed with memory foam mattress, a stunning skylight and all the amenities to make your glamping adventure fun and comfortable. With 26 square metres of floor space, you have plenty of room to relax, there is a dining table, a sofa and stove-side seating indoors. Outdoors, you can enjoy a deck with panoramic views, table and chairs and a fire pit to keep you warm as you stargaze late into the night.

** SPA FACILITIES: A short walk away guests have exclusive use of our lovely spa garden which features a wood fired hot tub and traditional sauna, cold plunge pool, hot/cold outdoor shower and changing cubicle. There is an extra charge of £25 for the hot tub for the evening - we do all the preparation work, so all you need to do is get in and relax. Minimum 24 hours notice is required to book the hot tub due to the preparation work required. The sauna is £5 / 2 hour use and can be booked anytime during your stay. **

The yurt can cater for up to 2 adults, it is not suitable for children. There is a hot outdoor shower and a modern, comfortable loo a short walk away (approx 70metres/1 min walk on a gravel path with 2 x sets of 3 steps). The path to both is lit at night and a torch is also provided.

The yurt is located on pasture land at our home, set away from the house for privacy and with uninterrupted views. You are surrounded by nature, owls, buzzards and red kites fly above, deer can be spotted in the forest that borders the field and sheep graze over the wall. You are welcome to explore our site – there are streams, ponds, trees & friendly goats to meet. The River Cree also crosses our land and the riverbank is a perfect spot for a picnic or a paddle – keep your eyes open for the otters!

The yurt is equipped with pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, utensils and a water dispenser. There is a kettle, stovetop coffee pot, electric induction hob & wood burning stove which can also be used for cooking. A selection of board games, card games and books can be found in the yurt. Guests have private use of the Washroom, where the loo is located and which also features a fridge, microwave, washing up sink, tumble dryer, floor length mirror & hairdryer. We provide all bedding and towels. There is mains electricity in the yurt and plenty of sockets. There is no Wi-Fi in the yurt, but most phone networks will work there. We provide 7 litres of drinking water (free refill always available!) and a crate of logs, kindling and firelighters for the wood burning stove. Additional bags of wood or kindling can be purchased on site for a small fee, or you are welcome to bring your own.

Guest access
Parking is available for 1-2 vehicles approximately 60 metres walk from the yurt. You cannot drive to the yurt door, but we are happy to help you up with your luggage if needed. Please note that the path to the yurt includes 2 x sets of 3 steps and a gravel path.

Other things to note
Please note the bathroom facilities are NOT located in or directly alongside the yurt. The yurt has its own private bathroom, with a normal flushing loo, sink, hairdryer, mirror and other amenities, but this is a short walk away - approximately 40 metres/30 second walk from the yurt, along a gravel path which has 2 small sets of steps. The path has ground lights along the route at night and a torch is also provided.

Hi, I'm Emma. I live on the edge of the beautiful Galloway Forest with my partner Robb, our daughter Elizabeth and our daft, friendly dogs Max and Rocket and cats Wolf and Jet. I'm originally from South London and Robb is from Dorset, so we've come a long way North, but we love this region with it's enormous forests, beautiful Lochs, rolling hills and big, big sky. We feel lucky to live here every day and are very excited about opening our home to visitors.
