Response from Hugo:

Dear Vicky, thank you for your review. I would like to clarify some points, because I think your review isn't accurate. Alfama is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Lisbon and the building you refer isn't abandoned or collapsed, it's just an old building that is for sale. The fact that you din't see a lot of people on the street means that this neighborhood is mainly a residencial area, not a nightlife area as other neighborhoods in the city, like Bairro Alto. Neither the building or the fact that there isn't a lot of people on the street undermine the safety of the neighborhood; none of the guests that stayed there had any problem regarding security, as you yourself didn't either. Second, the apartment is only difficult to find if you don't read carefully the instructions I sent you, with map links and directions. If the taxi driver got lost, I'm sorry about it, but as you can understand it's not my fault and that isn't related to any absence of detailed information about the apartment's location, which I gave you. Third, I never told you the taxi ride would be €5; the distance the taxi made would never cost that amount, and if it took one hour to arrive you're forgetting to mention you arrived at 8pm, rush time in Lisbon. Have nice travels around.

Perfect for spending the afternoons. Order the Pois, melange, a cappuccino with surprise.
    R. de São João da Praça Lisboa Lisboa 1100
  • Martinho Da Arcada

The coffee that all tourists must visit. Why? Because it is the oldest of Lisbon and was one of the sites of election of Fernando Pessoa. Drink a bica (espresso) with absinto (like Pessoa) or without.
Praça do Comércio Lisboa Lisboa 1100-148
  • Esplanada das Portas do Sol

One of the best views over the city, ideal to enjoy sitting in their many couches. Designed by architects Aires Mateus.
Largo de Santa Luzia Lisboa Lisboa 1100
  • Santo António De Alfama

One of the best places to eat later. With good environment and starters to share.
Beco de São Miguel Lisboa Lisboa 1100
  • Ginjinha D' Alfama

From the small desk tucked in the corner of this street you can order ginjinha cups (cherries liqueur) that are drunk in one gulp. To warm locals and tourists.

  • Restaurante Pátio 13

There are lots of places to eat sardines in the town, but the best are at this restaurant. The demand is so great that in summer, the Patio 13 increases in size to the terrace.
Calçadinha de Santo Estêvão Lisboa Lisboa 1100
  • Casanova

It has the best pizzas in town, a cold tea with world fame, terrace beside the Tagus, tables at a cafeteria-style ... and queues, of course. Some of the salads are to avoid.
Avenida Infante Dom Henrique - Cais da Pedra Lisboa Lisboa 1900
  • Bica do Sapato

The most trendy Lisbon restaurant. With a great view of the river, you may prefer the room with Mediterranean food, or the sushi bar with Japanese food exclusively.
