The Space

A beautiful 1905 single family Edwardian home with new modern amenities right in the middle of San Francisco in the Duboce Triangle Historic District. On a one block tree lined street that dead ends into Duboce Park the home is sandwiched between the Castro, the Haight and Alamo Square. All of the metro lines run 3 blocks away and it's a 10 minute walk to a variety of different neighborhoods. Complete with 12 foot ceilings, gourmet kitchen, formal living room, formal dining room, breakfast room, private garden, 2 decks, flat screen TV, wifi, and garage parking. The master bedroom has it's own parlor that currently has twin cribs and there's a full guest room with a private deck. There's also a third bedroom that is set up for a child but we can change that to be another adult bedroom with a queen size Aero bed. The Castro is two blocks in one directions and Haight Ashbury is 2 blocks in the other. The park at the end of the street is filled with people picnicking, walking their dogs and the kids playground. You can also catch the city street car at the end of the block and be downtown in 3 stops or in the other directions it will take you to the beach. The house and the one block street are classic San Francisco.

  • Great location & Ken was awesome to deal with - very helpful and really appreciated his help with sorting transport etc.A safe neighborhood with easy access to the Muni, shops & cafes. Overall the house was lovely however couple of issues with switches, lighting etc - no huge impact on our stay but was also a bit chilly at night so maybe have something warm to put on after a day out seeing the sights. We loved sitting at the park & watching the huge variety of dogs playing in the nearby park and also loved Ken & Mike's outstanding array of collections which they display in their home with such flair! Loved our time in Duboce.

  • Ken and Mike's house is exactly as described. Beautifully decorated and very spacious. There are three large bedrooms in the house two with large double beds and one currently laid out as a child's bedroom but Ken and Mike will make it up as a third double bedroom if needed. They have a garage attached to the house as well which is amazing if you are hiring a car whilst in San Francisco (parking can be hard to find otherwise).

The location is great too. The house is situated on a quiet street with a park at one end. There are a few really nice cafés and restaurants nearby too. Café du Soleil is a lovely french bakery/coffee shop, Maven is a nice funky cocktail bar/restaurant and L'ardoise Bistro is a gorgeous french bistro. All are within 2 minutes walk of the house.

Our trip was planned last minute so unfortunately we didn't get to meet the guys. But Ken and Mike were really helpful throughout the planning process. Ken even suggested other neighbourhoods that would be worth staying in.

  • Ken and Mike were great hosts as they responded promptly to all my questions regarding the area and the home. To my surprise, the home was much more spacious than I had anticipated. It is beautifully decorated, and close to the train and dog park. The home is more than enough space for a group of 6, and is close to many good restaurants as well. My friends and I grabbed food from the Thai restaurant two blocks down twice!

One thing to note, however, is that although pets are not allowed (as stated on the listing), the smell of pets is present, especially downstairs. Unfortunately, a member of my group is allergic to pets and could not stay in the home. This smell is especially strong in the downstairs bathroom, as if a cat or dog has marked their territory all over in it. Also, the rooms (including bathrooms) do not have locks, so you and your guests have to be careful when opening doors.

  • The house on Potomac was amazing! Exactly as described and beautifully decorated. It was the perfect balance of adult & sophisticated and child friendly - we and our 2 year old were right at home! Importantly, our hosts were extremely responsive for any questions we had. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • We loved this home. We felt right at home. Charming and terrifically located. Our hosts were very easy to communicate with and they made us feel beyond welcome. We can't recommend this spot more highly. If you have a family with small children you will enjoy everything about this home and especially the park that is a block away. That being said, if you have no children and you just want a nice get away, this isn't a house that feels like kids have over run the place!!! It is clean and tasteful and just happens to be amazing for families. Perfect Airb&b experience.

  • I rented this home for myself and my out-of-town bridesmaids/friends for my wedding here in San Francisco. The place was truly charming and full of character yet homey and welcoming at the same time. I had getting-ready shots taken here and the photographer complimented the space on its great light. We maxed out the bedrooms with 6 people, so the 1.5 baths was a bit tight but completely manageable. Ken (email hidden)--very responsive and accommodating with all of my many requests. I live in the neighborhood myself and can speak to the great location and close proximity to a family-friendly park, Safeway grocery store, N-train MUNI stop, brunch spots, and nail salon. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

  • We spent a long time looking for the perfect location in SF for our visit with our two young boys. In the end, this was the perfect place! Three good-sized bedrooms (they had a very high-quality air mattress set up for us in the third room that normally has a crib), just a couple hundred steps to both a nice park with play structure and the Muni streetcar (which links to every other public transit in the city), and far enough from the ocean/bay to be warmer and sunnier than many areas. The house is on a dead-end street, so almost no traffic. Very friendly neighbors/neighborhood, just a few blocks from a Safeway grocery store. Short walk to a different restaurant for lunch and/or dinner every day. House itself was lovely, but not without the many quirks and oddities you'd expect in a 110-year-old house. Definitely an authentic SF experience. All communication was with Ken, who was very friendly, easy-going, and quick to respond to any question.

  • Superb house, very human atmosphere, refined decoration, making you feel immediately at home. Contacts with Ken and Mike were minimal (think of asking for them the wifi password before moving in) but really nice, and everything seemed very simple. Location is also prefect, with shops and beautiful sights at walking distance.

  • We had the best time ever! The house was great, beautifuly decorated, well equiped, super confortable and clean.
The block is super quiet, half a block away from a park wich my kids used a lot.
There's also a big supermarket very near.
It was our first time in San Francisco, we felt in love with the city, the food, the people, this house and even the foggy sea views!
If we ever have the luck of going back we would definetly rent it again.
We only knew Ken, Mike and their lovely daughter Coco from pictures as we had no problems with anything.

  • We were so happy with our stay at Kenneth and Mike's. The pictures didn't do justice to how large the house was, and the location was absolutely perfect. We were within easy reach of cafe's, transport, plus a short walk to the Haight and other cool areas. We travelled with two young kids (both under 4) and they loved the playground at Duboce park, watching all the dogs play, plus the house itself was very child friendly. Overall we couldn't recommend the house more highly. This was our first AirBNB experience and Ken was perfect to deal with, answered all my questions and even made recommendations. We can't wait to go back to such a cool house in such a cool city! Thanks again.
