The Space

This daylight garden apartment has a bedroom with full real bed and lovely built-ins, a cozy living area with fold down couch, small but full kitchen, full bath with claw-foot tub, and light filled garden sitting room with sleeping futon couch. In a family friendly green neighborhood, you can walk a block or two here or there and find independent coffee houses, pubs, restaurants, shops, wine bars etc.

A few blocks walk puts you on the main bus line to downtown attractions such as Pikes' Place Market, the Seattle Center and Space Needle, the Seattle Art Museum, etc.

Our neighborhood is relatively quiet. You will hear occasional barking dogs, crows and even a chicken or two. It's a family friendly neighborhood if you are traveling with children--easy to walk in, close to the zoo, playgrounds and family welcoming restaurants.

Our yards are living spaces out of doors, you are welcome to sit and enjoy the garden or play on the playstructure (at your own risk). Please do not smoke inside or in the gardens. It is an older home with lots of charm, however it is not sound proof and occaisionally I have dogs upstairs (they are separated from the private entry by gates and the Mother-In-Law apartment is a pet free zone). There is no TV, but bring your laptop or ipad for Free WiFi streaming. Please no outside guests or gatherings at the apartment.

Our MIL (email hidden) from which to launch your Seattle explorations and a refuge when you return.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is friendly and walkable. There are so many restaurants and shops nearby, yet it is a residential neighborhood where people love their houses and gardens and add artistic touches that make walking around pleasant and interesting. There are kids and animals, farmers markets, restaurants, bars, and coffeeshops. Parks and views of the cascades and the olympics right up the hill. Definitely down to earth you will see a lot of parking strip garden beds

Getting around

Bus lines to downtown run regularly. #5 is closest to our house and it is up a steep hill 4 blocks, There is another bus #28 that runs along 8th avenue. Look up routes and times at seattle metro

Other Things to Note

we have the following in the apt for your use: coffee maker, microwave, toaster, oven & stove top, electric heaters, hairdryer. You can also request the use of an ironing board & iron, vacuum, fan

  • I very much enjoyed my stay at Liza's MIL apartment. It was my first time in Seattle and the location was perfect. Quiet, safe neighborhood with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Parking was no problem if you have a car. The apartment was spacious and honestly felt like home. I would stay here again for sure!

  • We enjoyed our stay in Liza's daylight basement. The neighborhood was very quiet and the parking was close and easy. The space was readily accessible and was supplied with everything we needed. Our grandchildren enjoyed the small play area in the yard and Liza was very friendly with them and us. We enjoyed the crepes at Ridgeback Crepe Cafe on Morgen's recommendation. We also bought 2 pr of shoes at Sneakery just a few blocks away. We highly recommend Liza's spot for a comfortable and ease of parking and accessibility.

  • Great place to stay in Seattle. The apartment was spacious and clean. Loved the claw foot bathtub! Really nice neighborhood, with a lot of coffee shops and restaurants to choose from within walking distance.

  • Liza was friendly and professional and the accommodations were spacious, clean, and comfortable. We really enjoyed the location, with many great bars and restaurants within an easy walk. Ballard is fairly accessible, too. We'll definitely look to stay again on our next trip to Seattle.

  • Very spacious and pleasant apartment in a great neighborhood. My in-laws had a wonderful stay!

  • My husband stayed here while visiting our daughters and was very comfortable! Quiet, accommodating and spacious--he said he will be back. He did say that the main bed was about the size of a double and thought it might be small for the both of us but there is a futon in the other room to spread out. Liza was responsive and very accommodating and we will def use this location again!

  • Liz's basement apt is our favorite place to stay in Seattle! We come up yearly to visit our son, and have used 2 other airbnb apartments. We won't be staying anywhere else from now on! It was spacious, warm and inviting! It had plenty of light, and was just right for our group of 4! The neighborhood is great, and parking was never a problem...there was always space on the street right by the apt! There's a little noise from upstairs on weekday mornings, but it didn't bother us, as it was happy, family noise! Great place!

  • This trip was to surprise my mom for her birthday/Christmas present. Of course, she knew about the trip, but she didn't know about my two brothers visiting, too. Now, I have a very small house here in Seattle, so I was unable to accommodate my family for our first holiday in 20+ years. Liza's place was a great location for them. The place was clean, well taken care of, and quiet. My family loved it as they (email hidden) to sleep and hang out.
Thanks, Liza, for making this trip possible!

  • This was my third visit with Liza and her family (usually for a one week stay). Liza is an ideal hostess, making sure that everything is just right and providing information in such areas as good pizza locations, public transportation and Ballard/Phinney Ridge landmarks such as the famous Ballard Locks and Salmon Ladder. I visit the Locks and Ladder on every trip. I like the apartment; it is private, spacious and well equipped. It is located in a quiet area of Ballard and there are numerous restaurants, coffee shops, brew pubs within easy walking distance.
All in all, the Spacious Garden Apartment is ideal for my needs in Seattle. I look forward to visiting again.

  • The apartment was a great jumping off spot for our family of 4 for a week of play, vacation and work! We look forward to a chance to come again soon!

About
I am a writer and dog walker living in a community I helped to create. I enjoy creating artistic spaces for people to share. My daughter and I love our house and would like to share it with others. I am a person who knows her neighbors and helps make connections. I can direct you to the many great shops, restaurants, walks and haunts around our home. I am friends with two realtor neighbors each within a half a block of my house who know Seattle well. If you are looking to make Seattle your home I can put you in touch. Although I board a small number of dogs in my home, I cannot have pets join us in the airbnb apartment. Thanks for understanding. I have traveled many places in the world and find that staying with or close to "real people living real lives" is the true pleasure of (email hidden). I am looking forward to being a traveler via airbnb as well as a host. cheers, liza
