About this listing
Home away from home, the apartment is a comfortable space in a family friendly, walkable neighborhood close to restaurants and bus lines...
This daylight garden apartment has a bedroom with full real bed and lovely built-ins, a cozy living area with fold down couch, small but full kitchen, full bath with claw-foot tub, and light filled garden sitting room with sleeping futon couch. In a family friendly green neighborhood, you can walk a block or two here or there and find independent coffee houses, pubs, restaurants, shops, wine bars etc.
A few blocks walk puts you on the main bus line to downtown attractions such as Pikes' Place Market, the Seattle Center and Space Needle, the Seattle Art Museum, etc.
Our neighborhood is relatively quiet. You will hear occasional barking dogs, crows and even a chicken or two. It's a family friendly neighborhood if you are traveling with children--easy to walk in, close to the zoo, playgrounds and family welcoming restaurants. I count all people in your group as guests, if you are traveling with the two and under crowd, I consider them a guest as they have an impact on the household. Airbnb has created a policy (as of 2017) that 2 and under are not considered a guest and therefore stay at no charge. If you still want to stay, you will need to identify them as 2 and up or choose another listing. Thanks for understanding.
Our yards are living spaces out of doors, you are welcome to sit and enjoy the garden or play on the play structure (at your own risk). Please do not smoke inside or in the gardens. It is an older home with lots of charm, however, it is not sound proof and occasionally I have dogs upstairs (they are separated from the private entry by gates and the Mother-In-Law apartment is a pet free zone). We ask guests to be considerate of noise after 9 pm as we will do for you. There is no TV, but bring your laptop or ipad for Free WiFi streaming. Please, no outside guests or gatherings at the apartment. I can no longer offer access to Washer/Dryer because a prior guest broke the washer and it was a very expensive stay. There is a great and clean laundry just 4 blocks away.
Our MIL is a cozy place from which to launch your Seattle explorations and a refuge when you return.
**note: Currently I do not list on other sites, so my calendar is up to date. If you are making a reservation that starts or ends on the same day as an adjacent reservation, I may need a later check in time or may not be able to accommodate your request due to cleaning time
Interaction with guests
we are mostly hands off and have full active lives ourselves, but we are around to help, friendly and open to saying hello!
Our neighborhood is friendly and walkable. There are so many restaurants and shops nearby, yet it is a residential neighborhood where people love their houses and gardens and add artistic touches that make walking around pleasant and interesting. There are kids and animals, farmers markets, restaurants, bars, and coffeeshops. Parks and views of the cascades and the olympics right up the hill. Definitely down to earth you will see a lot of parking strip garden beds
Bus lines to downtown run regularly. #5 is closest to our house and it is up a steep hill 4 blocks, There is another bus #28 that runs along 8th avenue. Look up routes and times at seattle metro
Other things to note
we have the following in the apt for your use: coffee maker, microwave, toaster, oven & stove top, electric heaters, hairdryer. You can also request the use of an ironing board & iron, vacuum, fan
you help keep costs down and our place available for your visits by pitching in with a few tasks at the end of your stay. These are: stripping beds and putting towels and bedding in a pile at the end of your stay, taking out your garbage, recycling, and food waste and putting them in the appropriate bin, washing, drying and putting away dishes you use during your stay. We sometimes only have 2 hours to launder, sweep, vacuum, scrub bathroom, and remake beds before the next guest. Thanks!
1. No smoking in house/gardens
2. For stays longer than 5 days, we may need to access laundry/storage and will arrange for minimal intrusiveness.
3. Treat house respectfully, remove shoes in entry so as not to track dirt, petals, cherries, leaves through apartment.
4. We will attempt to tread lightly and quiet down after 9 or 10 in the evening, you too.
5. Please no additional guests or gatherings at the apartment and no pets.
6. Parents supervise kids on play structure and in yard.
7. Feel free to use the many garden spaces, but keep gates closed. We have occasional dogs staying with us and this keeps everyone safe by not letting animals get out.

I am a writer and dog walker living in a community I helped to create. I enjoy creating artistic spaces for people to share. My daughter and I love our house and would like to share it with others. I am a person who knows her neighbors and helps make connections. I can direct you to the many great shops, restaurants, walks and haunts around our home.
I am friends with two realtor neighbors each within a half a block of my house who know Seattle well. If you are looking to make Seattle your home I can put you in touch.
Although I board a small number of dogs in my home, I cannot have pets join us in the airbnb apartment. Thanks for understanding.
I have traveled many places in the world and find that staying with or close to "real people living real lives" is the true pleasure of experiencing a new place. I am looking forward to being a traveler via airbnb as well as a host.
