We are approximately 2 miles to the UW campus and 1 mile to the restaurants, coffee shops, and bookstores in Wedgwood, Ravenna, and Maple Leaf. Easy access to I-5 too.

This was our 2nd airbnb experience and it was almost polar opposite from our 1st. That's nothing negative about where we stayed, it just demonstrates how different the airbnb experiences can be. Our first place we were in a room inside the hosts home and shared kitchen, had our own bathroom, chatted most nights with our hosts etc. But at the Valeri's place it was a completely furnished basement below their home. So it was totally private. We met Martin, never did meet Jo, but Martin was helpful when we needed and accessible. The place was in great condition and perfect for what we needed. We wanted a place where we could have meals there if needed, and there were just enough supplies to do so (like not needing to buy salt, or having a spatula, utensils, cooking ingredients. Probably the toughest part of staying there is sorting out the recycle system, but hey, that's WA. It was very helpful to have laundry accessible as we'd been on the road for a week already. One would barely know they were there, except for the pitter patter of happy feet above us. But we sort of expected some kid noise, as they don't hide that their a family living above you. Besides we were in town for our son's wedding, so we were in a nostalgic mood where pitter patter of feet was a reassuring sound. They trusted us with their home and we hope we didn't disappoint them with leaving it in the same condition we found it, except they gave us clean towels and we left them dirty ones. Also Martin was very helpful and patient when we locked ourselves out once, not making us feel any less uncomfortable for doing so. The trickiest part of staying at their home is not passing it by, as the address comes up quickly and it's set back quite far from the road. But that only helps in the quietness of the surroundings. The location was great for where we needed to go and parking was simple, once you learned the best street to park on. We'd give this place a total thumbs up and were grateful for a nice place to 'call home' while we were visiting Seattle.
Martin and Jo are excellent hosts. They responded promptly and thoroughly to all our inquiries prior to making the trip. The apartment was spotlessly clean, well organized, and nicely decorated. We used the buses to get around the city and enjoyed walks in the neighborhood. We highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Seattle.
This has got to be one of the most charming apartments in Seattle. It is cute, clean and cozy. It is tastefully decorated and has everything you need to make your stay perfect! Martin and Jo were great hosts, very generous and accommodating. Without question, we would stay here again!
PJ and I stayed at the Valeris wonderful apartment in Seattle. We loved that it was sunny, clean, and felt like home. We were also very pleased with the location - the neighborhood was nice and quiet and not too far from downtown. Martin and Jo were great hosts! The were accommodating and flexible with our flight delays and odd check in and out times. We would gladly stay with them again!
Wonderfully clean and comfortable unit that provided a relaxing Seattle getaway for my girlfriend and myself. Martin and Jo, were extremely kind and helpful hosts and really made us feel at home. The location is right next to a bus stop that proved a direct route through the U district and into downtown with relative ease. The bed was quite simply the most comfortable we've ever slept on, and the apartment was wonderful to sit and listen to the rain fall against the window. We highly recommend you stay here.
My husband and I stayed in Martin and Jo's apartment for a week while on vacation. The apartment had just been recently remodeled and couldn't have been more perfect for our stay. We loved that the house is set back off the road, it was really quiet and relaxing. I can't forget to mention that the bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and the apartment was very clean. We absolutely loved staying here.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The Valeri apartment was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed being so close to our Seattle family. We had everything we needed including a book that explained everything about the apartment, recomendations for restaurants and many shops. We would not hesitate to return when we are in Seattle.
I stayed here a week and really enjoyed it. The suite is comfortable and clean. The kitchen is complete but small---it took some practice to prepare a meal on the limited counter space. Also really nice to have access to a full laundry when I'm on an extended trip. The neighbourhood is quiet. Although the address is a busy street, the house itself is set back from the road and the sound doesn't reach the house. Martin and Jo responded quickly to my few requests. They're well-organized---the hint book had a lot of good suggestions and the combination lock on the door meant one less key to worry about. I easily found parking on 86th, a quiet side street a few minutes away.
Great place to stay! very near to UW on a direct bus route that also takes us to downtown Seattle. Very quiet environment with a great looking patio that you can have a slow afternoon tea and enjoy the fresh air.
We stayed here for a month while awaiting our transition to a more permanent location practically out of our suitcases, but the house was very well-equipped and we didnt have to worry about anything except buying our own ingredients. We were doing simple cooking within the first couple of days!
Martin and Joanna are amazing hosts and were very accommodating. Martin even had a hand in helping us find our more permanant apartment that we are living in now. They prepared maps for us to navigate around closeby supermarkets and cafes. Not all of them are of walkable distance, but definitely within 5 minutes drive - (we found it increased our reach of the area exponentially with a rented car).
The duration we were living in the home there were some roadworks on Ravenna Avenue N that brought the road down to a single lane. It was slightly inconvenient but the good news is that they've completed their work and things (traffic and home access) are back to normal now. Martin and Joanna were very sensitive to these inconveniences and discussed compensatory gestures (parking arrangements, etc) which were much appreciated.
Staying in M&J's home was a great experience for us because it helped us first timers get accustomed to Seattle.
