The listing was very accurate - clean, nice, comfortable dorm rooms with a shared/private bathroom. Perfect for backpackers and a good price. We were very happy with it.

I had been to Izmir once before, but this time I stayed at the In House Hostel... And if I get the chance I'll do it again! The staff is super friendly, and hostel is in pristine condition!!! It's new and it's location is in arguably the most exciting neighborhood in Izmir! It's not too hard to find, but make sure to ask for directions or you'll miss this gem! I cannot stress how much Percin helped make my trip and all of my friend's trip spectacular! He was very flexible and was able to host 15 foreigners with a week's notice!

Good place to stay! Very near to the Alsancak train station and the seaside. We arrived around 12 midnight and Percin even offered to bring us to the nearest restaurant for a quick grab. Overall, we had a good stay at Percin's place

I had the best experience at in-house honestly the place is 5 minute walk from the train which was handy coming from the airport, great staff, really more like family actually. Always ready to help no matter what. Highly recommend this place, everything is near, sea side, cafes, restaurants, bars, shopping ,bus stations etc.... thanks heaps guys for making my experience very memorable :)

The whole thing started on a good note, we were traveling as a group of three and wanted to stop by İzmir as a last minute decision. We sent a booking request, Percin replied fast. Then everybody lived happily ever after... well not really. First off we were informed with extra charges for every additional person. (I get the whole hostel thing, but it shouldn't be listed as a whole room if every person added will be required to pay that amount for themselves. There's a section for additional people charge..) We agreed to pay. See for me money is not the problem here, but the way it was explained on Airbnb. Move past 5 hours, we're in İzmir. It's almost midnight, we're complete strangers to the city and have no idea what's what. This is the main reason I was angry with the whole thing - the hostel itself is not clearly signed (apparently they changed their name but didn't change the sign) and was really hard to locate even with the directions. We ended up passing the hostel and going into back alleys wandering, which had some pretty serious shady business going on -if you know what I mean. Finally parked and in the hotel, we checked in. And there goes the guy asking me for cash and no receipt in return? Okay fine.. Moved into the room which had 2 bunk beds that can fit 4 people. I ask the reception guy who was showing us the room, if I can get a key so I can lock the door which goes on saying 'Oh this room is not completely yours, someone may join?' Errm, I thought I booked a 'private room' as stated on Airbnb. (Right before coming to Turkey I backpacked in Holland and Belgium, and never ran into this problem, at least they informed well ahead about strangers..) Now finally going to sleep right? No, no, no. If leave the window open it's too loud with obnoxious people yelling and being drunk. If I close the window I can't breathe because it's stuffy. If you consider the amount you'll pay (per person) it's bearable, but not for me at least in the near future. If you're looking for a place that won't leave your wallet empty then go with it. If I was well informed of what to expect probably I'd be less cranky about the whole thing. Only positive part of it was Percin who was really nice on the phone.

Response from Percin:
Hello Zeynep, Sorry that you had problems finding the place and all. As I can see, most of your problems are related to external factors, which as you can imagine, is not in our control :) I wish you would have called us or used (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps to find our place, we believe the directions we give are quite specific (we give the apartment number after all). We give receipts to our customers as well, maybe it was because it was late, our guy forgot to write you one. You could have just asked and he would have provided you. And about the 'private room' thing, yes, airbnb does not allow us to post ads as 'hostels' so private rooms are the closest option. In all fairness, the neighborhood is pretty nice, but it is true that there is one 'red light district' kind of street nearby. It is not dangerous though, but I can understand why you were scared. As you said at the end, this is a hostel, and we believe that for the price people pay, the service we give is quite extraordinary. My suggestion would be that next time you make sure that you know what to expect from the place you stay next time. Because as you said Place that empties your wallet = More luxury (but not necessarily more fun) Place that does not = Less luxury. I find it my fault that I did not inform you well about the fact that we are a hostel. But honestly, I thought you knew that this place was a hostel.
