Longer stays also welcome.
Large kitchen and bathroom in main house.
Craftsman style country home on a sunny half acre just South of Santa Cruz. The property is a ten minute drive from beaches and excellent small restaurants. We are designed for indoor outdoor living. Located 60 min from Silicon Valley and 90 min South of San Francisco in a country setting, we are a beautiful 40 min drive North of Monterey Bay Aquarium. Take a day trip to Big Sur. Or hike in the nearby Redwoods. Or grab a bike and tour the local wineries and apple orchards just minutes from the house. Santa Cruz has a vibrant music and dance scene, a Boardwalk. Sailing, surfing, kayaking (or I can give you a rowing lesson). Access to a car and transportation from the airport open for discussion... Bedroom and guest cottage are both perfect for a couple. A larger group can book the main house -- up to three couples. Kids and pets welcome -- no indoor smoking please.
Cottage guests access the bathroom and kitchen through the back door. The bathroom in the main house is shared between the cottage guests and the small bedroom.
Guests who need ready bathroom access will be more comfortable in the small bedroom as it adjoins the bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
I work multiple jobs and, while I love people and enjoy AirBandB guests, the reality is that I am often gone from home. We have dogs and cats.
The main bus route is 2 miles from the house.
Other Things to Note
I do not mind late arrivals.
We love animals and have both cats and dogs.
Our animals are not allowed in the guest rooms because many guests have allergies. People who ar super allergic won't be comfortable. But we have many guests with mild allergies who do just fine.
Let us know ahead of time if you plan to bring an animal. We have cats and dogs.
Christine is an amazing host, and her property is beautiful. I decided that I needed a private bathroom, but aside from that, I'd highly recommend her place.
Great place to get away! The cottage was cozy and secluded but not too far from things to do. Christine was an excellent host. She provided us with recommendations for restaurants and points of interest. She was very patient with us and our dog and treated us as if we were friends visiting for the weekend. We would definitely stay again.
My 4yo and I stayed here over the weekend to celebrate Mother's Day, and it was a perfect little getaway! The cottage is sweet and cozy, the gardens are beautiful and tranquil, and Christine was an absolute delight. She was so thoughtful, warm and patient with my little one, we felt right at home and didn't want to leave. I'm already looking at the calendar to plan my next stay--thank you Christine!
I went to Christine's cottage looking for some quiet and focus for a project I'm working on. I couldn't have been more pleased. The cottage was a perfect blend of rustic and comfortable. I slept snugly in the loft and the kitchenette had everything I needed for the simple meals I'd brought with me. The rose garden was beautiful. It was peaceful looking out over it from the patio table as I worked. As a host, Christine was generous and friendly and made very tasty coffee each morning. Her dog, Molly, and her little black cat were became my fast friends. I would go back and do it all again. Thank you, Christine!
Christine was super friendly and we really enjoyed meeting her. The cottage is stocked with cooking utensils and plates. It was very relaxing staying there. The loft bed is a little tricky to get in and out of and the ceiling is low once you're up there. That said, the bed is super comfy.
Christine's house, garden and cottage is the most beautiful place on earth. We had been there about a year and a half ago and since then, we had always been dreaming about coming back. Now we had the opportunity and enjoyed it even more than the first time. Some days we just stayed at home because we felt so good there that we didn't want to go anywhere else. Can't wait to come back!! Thank you, Christine, for sharing your beautiful paradise!

About the Host, Christine
I am an over employed PA in love with the country life. The property is a rambling half acre of flowers, vegetable gardens an fruit trees in the hilly setting of South Santa Cruz County. Large sunny decks flank the main house and invite guests outside to enjoy morning coffee and the New York Times.
The house has a small downstairs bedroom with private bath. There is also a much larger private suite of rooms upstairs (that is not listed). The guest cottage is under the trees at the bottom of the rose garden. It has a small kitchenette and shares the downstairs bathroom in the main house. Both the bedroom and the cottage have queen sized futons. The cottage sleeping loft is a short ladder climb up. Either space would be perfect for a couple. We can accommodate up to three couples, with children. Well behaved dogs are also welcome and guests are encouraged to cook in the main house in the French country-style kitchen with oak floors and an antique gas stove .
The outdoor spaces offer benches and tables to sit, read and even eat out doors. And the wood fired hot tub is quite popular. I especially love soaking under the stars....
