  • Christine's cottage is sweet and cozy and perfect for a weekend getaway. My husband and I stayed over the weekend with our small puppy and found the place to be comfortable and well-suited for our needs. We enjoyed its location right between Santa Cruz and Monterey/Carmel. Christine was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back!

  • Christine is a wonderful host and so is the cottage. Small, but big enough for 2. everything you need is in there. To sleep right under the roof was fun. When ever return to CA to go Surfing in Capitola we'd love to stay at Christines.

  • Wow! I took my fiancee Maggie here for Valentines day weekend. Christine was completely flexible on check in time, and was totally available even though we arrived late in the evening. The cottage was cozy and warm as she had left the heater on for us. We had come with our Corgi who was really happy to be out in the countryside and she enjoyed playing around a bit in the yard. Kitchen was made available and the "shared bath" wasn't a problem at all. Christine even checked in with us by phone to make sure the stay was going well!

One thing to note: the loft portion is a little small so be wary that if you're a taller individual it does take some effort to get into bed! :)

  • What a wonderful retreat. The cottage is cozy, but if you want to do any lounging, there aren't couches in the cottage itself, but Christine opens up the main house to guests as well.

The headroom in the loft is minimal, so beware sitting up if you're tall. The wood-heated hot tub is spectacular and it really feels like you're off the beaten path, though it's within a half hour of santa cruz and monterey.

  • Christine is a very kind, generous, and responsible host. She left cheerful flowers from her garden in a little vase on the cottage table to greet us, and was very flexible and laid-back about the check-in and check-out times. The area is quiet and beautiful. I had a nice time sitting in the wood-fired hot tub (not too hot when I got in, but still warm enough to be pleasant), looking up at the clear sky full of stars and a bright moon, and listening to the nature sounds all around. The cottage's sleeping loft was easy to climb up into, but it is a bit dicey to get down from if you have any fear of heights, so I definitely recommend this to bold, physically strong people, rather than to people with vertigo or limited mobility. The issue is that you need to take a leap and start lowering yourself out of the loft before you get to a point where you can grab hold of the handle at the top of the ladder, so there's a moment where it feels like there's nothing to hold on to. I did just fine with it in the end but still found myself planning my evening to limit the number of times I went down from the bed, since it was a little stressful each time. One thing to note is that the roof of the cottage comes very close to the sleeping loft, so if you are very tall it may be difficult to maneuver up there.

  • Christine's guest cottage was great. I loved having my own private space surrounded by trees—it felt like a woodsy retreat! Her house and yard are beautiful, and her hospitality is second to none. I will definitely stay here again if I need a place in the area. Thanks again!

  • Christine's home was absolutely delightful. It was the perfect country get away. We felt completely at home and were able to totally relax and unwind. Christine is also an amazing host, she was very friendly, had excellent suggestions for things to do in the area, and so relaxed about us bringing out dog which was a huge weight lifted. The cottage is charming and an excellent price!

  • I loved my stay at Christine's cottage. The location is serene, beautiful, like being in the country. The cottage itself is charming and makes for a great stay! I also made a nice meal in her kitchen -- I have to say the pasta I made tasted better than any I'd ever made before. Others have left reviews that capture most everything I could say about my stay. Highly recommend!

I am an over employed PA in love with the country life. The property is a rambling half acre of flowers, vegetable gardens an fruit trees in the hilly setting of South Santa Cruz County. Large sunny decks flank the main house and invite guests outside to enjoy morning coffee and the New York Times. The house has a small downstairs bedroom with private bath. There is also a much larger private suite of rooms upstairs (that is not listed). The guest cottage is under the trees at the bottom of the rose garden. It has a small kitchenette and shares the downstairs bathroom in the main house. Both the bedroom and the cottage have queen sized futons. The cottage sleeping loft is a short ladder climb up. Either space would be perfect for a couple. We can accommodate up to three couples, with children. Well behaved dogs are also welcome and guests are encouraged to cook in the main house in the French country-style kitchen with oak floors and an antique gas stove . The outdoor spaces offer benches and tables to sit, read and even eat out doors. And the wood fired hot tub is quite popular. I especially love soaking under the stars....
