Place was well kept, good up and coming location in the city that was walkable to many shops/bars/etc. I hadn't been to DC before so I spent much of my two days there out of the apartment and exploring and coming back at nights to catch up on email and sleep. The pull-out couch is right in large room next to the kitchen which lacked a little privacy and there were a few particular rules to follow but Tony was a great host and I'd recommend a stay especially if you are in DC for more than a few days
If you are looking for a place near the convention center, this place works very well. I stayed on the fold out couch and this was fine (the fold out couch definitely has less privacy than the private room but I was able to survive that fine). What you get matches what you read in other reviews. It is definitely a you get what you pay for situation. If you are looking for a quality nice location with a few sacrifices to get a lower price than a hotel, this is a great situation.
Had a great stay at Tony's place. The home is very nice and in an ideal location for those attending a function at the convention center. Tony was accommodating in coordinating my check-in/check-out and in parking my car in his garage. I stayed in the open living room with the pull-out due to the other rooms being taken. It worked well for me, but might be an issue if someone wants more privacy. There's plenty of rules and Tony gives you a very thorough rundown on the house and the rules. Some might find it a bit excessive, but it was actually nice in knowing that everyone has a common understanding of the high standards or cleanliness that is expected of everyone. This is especially nice when five people are sharing one bathroom. I just spent one night and the experience was positive. If I did stay again though, I would probably only go there if one of the rooms are available. I'm a pretty good traveler, but sleeping in someone's living room in a pretty small living space is just a tad too less private for me.
This apartment is very clean, well appointed, and conveniently located. The comprehensive rules worked well to maintain harmony in this busy house, but combined with the limited privacy and space of the fold-out-bed option I found it hard to relax. Tony did a great job of describing the space beforehand and managing checkin/checkout with flexibility.
This is a very convenient location, four blocks from the convention center. It was easy to walk back and forth. The cafe/coffe huse across the street is great. Tony is a wonderful host, careful about making sure guests understand the house rules. He is friendly and has a wonderful schnauzer dog that takes after Tony, very friendly. I would not choose to stay on the fold out bed as it has limited privacy, I'd choose one of the rooms. Shared bath is okay if everyone leaves at different times. The apartment is clean save fro some dust. The artwork is complimentary to the decorating.
Beautiful house in great location. Easy walk to everything. Tony is quite prescriptive regarding how guest are in his house but this is fair given his beautiful place is only kept this way because of these rules. If you can follow some simple rules then you'll love this place. If you're not that kind of person, look elsewhere :) Thanks Tony!!
I have stayed at Tony's for 4 nights. His place is like shown in the pictures, a piece of Italy in his home.
I slept on the sofa bed in the living room. The bed was big and comfortable and my intimacy was not disturbed.
Tony is very open, friendly, happy to have people at home and help you with the questions you may have.
The day of my departure I had a very early morning flight and he stayed awake with me.
I have beel walking everyday to the National Mall but also the metro is 3 blocks away.
I recommend Tony's place.
