Located within our home on a scenic 41-acre ranch, guests can enjoy guided horseback riding, ranch cooking experiences, and hiking right on the property. Tucked on the main floor of our ranch home, this cozy guest room offers comfort, privacy, and authentic western charm. Located next to the back door entrance with a large private bathroom just across the hall, it’s an ideal retreat after a day exploring Sequoia or enjoying the ranch. Spacious and designed with serious cooking in mind, it features a professional 6-burner Wolf commercial stove and oven with griddle and broiler, a large handmade butcher block island, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and just about every kitchen gadget imaginable. Guests are welcome to use our cupboards stocked with spices and basic cooking essentials.
The kitchen has even served as the set for cooking shows and has earned five-star reviews from every professional chef who has used it. The side kitchen window looks out over the courtyard and breathtaking foothills to the south, while the front window offers picturesque views of our horses, the lower pasture, and the river where deer and even the occasional bear can sometimes be spotted.
For sports fans, the kitchen and living room both have large televisions on separate satellite receivers, so you can easily watch different games at the same time while cooking or relaxing by the fire. During football season you can catch multiple NFL Sunday Ticket games, and baseball fans can enjoy our complimentary DirecTV MLB Extra Innings package. Outdoor televisions will soon be added to the courtyard as well.

Our ranch sits along a quiet country dirt road with very little traffic. People come from all over the area just to walk this peaceful stretch of road through the valley. Morning walks are refreshing, and evening strolls under the moonlit Sierra sky are truly special.
Because we live in the California foothills, fire safety is extremely important, especially during the dry summer months. We will let you know if campfires are permitted during your stay. Please never discard cigarettes or burning material outdoors.
The North Fork of the Kaweah River flows through the pasture across the road. While that section is private property and not accessible to guests, you can reach a beautiful public access point about ¾ mile toward town at the large turnout near the Lions Club Arena, a popular local spot to enjoy the water on warm days.
During your stay
We live on the ranch as well and have hosted guests from around the world for many years. If we’re home during your stay, there’s a good chance we’ll cross paths, but we always respect our guests’ privacy and are happy to interact as much—or as little—as you prefer.
If we are traveling during your visit, our caretaker who lives next door will help welcome you and assist with anything you may need during your stay.
Our ranch is also home to Sadie and Sage, our friendly resident dogs, along with horses, chickens, and a small herd of cattle that you’ll likely see around the property. They are used to people and are part of everyday ranch life.
Our ranch manager, Tony, lives on the north side of the ranch and takes care of the livestock and the grounds. That side of the ranch is reserved for his privacy, but you’ll often see him around the property doing chores. Tony feeds the horses and cattle each morning around 7:00 AM and again in the late afternoon. If you’ve never been around livestock before, watching the feeding routine can be a fun and memorable part of the ranch experience.
Other things to note
Families are very welcome at Riata Ranch, and many children love experiencing life on a real working ranch. Kids especially enjoy meeting the animals, exploring the wide-open space, and visiting our small petting zoo, which is always a favorite with younger guests.
Because this is a working ranch, there are livestock, ranch equipment, and electric fencing on the property, and the house itself is not childproof, so younger children should be supervised by parents or guardians while exploring the ranch and inside the home.

Our beautiful 2 story home is situated on 41 acres on a rarely traveled, dead end dirt road about 15 minutes from the entrance to Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks. Elevation here is about 900 feet in elevation so we do not get snow. In the fall and early winter, temperatures are mild and comfortable. Bears, deer, and turkey can be seen wandering around. Spring and early summer is primetime for whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Kaweah River, the steepest river in the lower 48 United States. Check our local online guide included with your reservation for professional guides and outfitters.
Water sports, boat rentals, and fishing are available on Lake Kaweah. The great thing about living on a ranch on a private road is that your closest neighbor is over 1/4 mile away. Besides the occasional car, the horses, cattle, and wildlife are about the only things we hear, so if you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this is it.
There's nothing like waking up in the morning with a cup of coffee and watching horses, cattle, bear, deer, coyotes, and bobcats from the safety and comfort of our front porch.

Riata Ranch gateway to Sequoia National Park. Nestled in the historic Kaweah Colony Valley along the North Fork River is part of the original settlement of Three Rivers in late 1800's.
