The apartment is very spacious and was exactly as described and very clean. It in fact is located only 5-10 walking minutes from shops, stores, cafes, and the waterfront and at the end of a quiet dead end street.
The only downside might be that the neighborhood is not the prettiest and that -if a nice view is important to you- it might not be for you. There were quite some construction sites in the street and quite some garbage scattered around on the empty lot right next to the building.
Communication with the host was fast and easy before our stay, he even offered airport transfers for a competitive price of 20 Euros per way which was great.
However it became a bit awkward when we were there:
A month before our trip, we sent an inquiry for 4 adults and 3 children between 0-3 years that got pre-approved, so we booked.
Shortly before arrival I asked about the possibility of an additional mattress for the child of our friends. The host offered a baby cot or a folding bed for a fee of 50 Euros each. We accepted and found the cot there upon arrival.
When we asked for the folding bed 2 days later (our children did not sleep as planned), the host wrote that he was under the assumption that only 4 people were staying at the apartment but now that there were 7 people staying there, we need to pay an additional fee irrespective of whether we'd want the folding bed. Generously, he slashed it down from additional 140 Euros to 70 Euros.
After replying that we inquired for 4 adults and 3 children (0-3 years) already with our first contact which he approved, and we then booked, he noticed that he must have misunderstood the situation.
Oh, and remember to keep some Euro cash for paying for the air conditioning during check-out!
Thanks for the positive feedback that you left us. I am glad that you had a pleasant stay and that the apartment was up to your satisfaction. I would like to point out that there are no construction sites in the street so I really don't understand what you are referring to!
With regards to the number of persons staying in the apartment. You have actually booked the apartment for 4 persons but only mentioned that you will be 7 persons in one of your messages. I got confused because the booking on Airbnb was saying 4 guests and that is what you paid for when in reality you turned out to be 7 persons!! I have only charged you for a baby cot so essentially the other 2 persons were staying for FREE!
I also hope you are not complaining for paying a couple of euros for excessive use of air-conditioning after you had a party of 7 staying in our apartment for the price of 4.
We stayed in the apartment for a week in March. It looks exactly like in the photos, it's very spacious and well equiped with kitchen utensils. The neighbourhood is not very interesting outside high season, but it is a good starting point for trips around Malta since the bus terminus is close to the apartment and you can reach almost any part of the island by a bus.
Aaron was very helpful form the very beginning, always reachable on the phone or email to answer all our questions or requests. Check-in and check-out went really smoothly.
I strongly recommend it and would definitely choose it again.
We rented Aarons LUXURY HOLIDAY APARTMENT in Qawra for 6 days.
George came to accompany us to the apartment as we did'nt find it.
The apartment is very spacious and looks just how you expect it after having seen the pictures.
Regrettably at our arrival it stank heavily of fried (even after having keept open the windows all afternoon it kept on smelling).
Furthermore, only after George had left, we discovered that the most part of the pots and pans were unusable as so dirty or old and that the draining board was completely rusty and therefore unusable. The kitchen had not been cleaned very well so we bought a degreaser and cleaned the whole kitchen.
As in the evening a cockroach found his way to the bathroom we decided to contact Aaron the next day and to complain.
Aaron immediately contacted us by phone and apologized explaining that before us a Chinese family had rented the apartment.
He promised to fix the problems the same day what he did: that evening when we returned to the apartment we found 6 new pots and pans and an air freshner awaiting us in the (website hidden): Where is the cloth dryer promised in the advertisement?
Thanks for your positive comments about our apartment but I would like to comment about the not so good ones. Unfortunately this is a case where the guest tried to abuse the host to get free accommodation as a compensation after paying a ridiculously cheap low season price and because they didn't reach their objective they try to take their revenge by writing such Reviews. My previous reviews will help to support my replies below....
Although it is not true that the apartment stank, I do apologise about the light smell of fried upon your check-in but as I said, your previous guests were Chinese and apparently they made heavy use of frying which resulted in leaving a fried smell in the apartment and ruining our pots and pans. As you said, we rectified the problem within a few hours that you contacted me.
With regards to the cockroach, we have never had a single similar complaint in the 5 years we have been renting our apartment but as I told you, if you leave the windows and balcony door open we have no control of what can fly in the apartment. I still have my doubts about this comment as there are no cockroaches around the block, especially during Winter. A picture of the said cockroach would have been helpful in supporting your argument.
The cloth dryer can be found in the walk-in wardrobe and had you contacted me about it, I would have explained to you where to find it.
I am sorry that such people try to harm hosts like us that do their best to satisfy their guests but luckily they are a minority!
Sehr nette Besitzerin!
Thank you Very much Paula & Aaron;)
