Interaction with Guests

I typically check people in and then I am available to answer questions or help out if I can anytime.
If people show that they want to interact I am happy to do so, if they don't want to interact I leave them alone.

The Neighborhood

Quintessential California Beach Community.
Gentrification and real estate values have changed most of Southern California's beach towns in one way or the other. The 'Mesa' is the name of this area of Santa Barbara, it's got a great vibe with smaller cottages and mid sized homes but very few Mc Mansions.. They neighbors won't stand for it so it remains as quaint as ever (except for the prices for the little cottages)..We have some of the most pristine beaches in the City of Santa Barbara here, Organic Produce stand, convenient shopping centers and restaurants.. Off leash Beach and Open Space/ Nature Preserve both in short walking distance..

Getting around

Bus stop nearby about 5 min walk in a safe area. Goes downtown or to UCSB

  • My girlfriend and I decided to have a quick weekend getaway to Santa Barbara and this place fit our accommodation needs perfectly. We had a very comfortable stay and the location was great. I would definitely stay here again - Josh was a great host, the place was as described, and we have a very positive experience.

  • We loved our stay at Josh's place. It was cozy, private, and so close to the beach. We loved having a well equipped kitchen... even though we couldn't stay away from the nearby restaurants. Josh was super friendly and accommodating - even providing us an earlier checkin time without requesting one. We'd love to return one day with our dog in tow. Thanks Josh!

  • Just as described and Josh is an excellent host. The location is perfect (especially if you have a dog!) with access to multiple dog friendly areas. The unit is everything you would need and our host made sure we had coffee and fresh fruit. The yard is wonderful and private too!

  • Josh's place was great - clean and very private despite being next door to his house. The outdoor space was perfect for a quiet read under the Santa Barbara sun and the location was ideal for anyone with a pet, those who love to sight-see or run, mere steps from the parks area and the scenic Thousand Steps Beach. Quick drive to State Street and all that SB has to offer. Great communication and very friendly accommodations were a plus. Thanks again!

  • Even before we arrived, we knew Josh's place was something special! Great communication, perfect location, cool decor, clean accommodations; and you cannot find a better host! We had privacy, but Josh was gladly available whenever we needed anything. From the casita, we could walk to the gorgeous beach and off leash preserve just around the corner, and did so daily. We and our dog loved every minute of our stay, and can't wait to go back!

  • Our weekend getaway in the studio was perfect. The unit is just as described and pictured and Joshua is an awesome host! The area is quiet and charming and just a quick drive all the happening spots in town. We would definitely stay there again; it's very comfortable, convenient and a great value.

  • Another 5-star review for Josh! This place is clean comfortable, and located just a few minutes' walk from the beach and the Douglass Preserve, and a short drive from the Boathouse restaurant on the beach or State Street in town. Casa Sevilla has everything you need for a weekend getaway, and we loved every second we spent there! Josh and his dog are incredible hosts, and we have hopes to return before too long!

  • Josh's place was in an awesome location. The home is well kept, comfortable, and Josh hooked it up with some fresh fruit and coffee. On Saturday morning, we took a walk through the Douglas Family Reserve (just a couple min away) and had an awesome brunch at a beachfront restaurant called Boathouse, per Josh's recommendation. We enjoyed a nice walk along Hendry's beach on the way back. The next morning, we planned a paragliding trip which turned out to be just across the street from Josh's neighborhood. Josh even drove to meet us to drop off a book we left in his apartment after we checked out. Overall, great host, great location, great place to stay.

  • My daughter and I enjoyed out stay at Joshua's place. The space is well appointed and loved the outdoor yard. We enjoyed walking either in the preserve or on the beach almost everyday. It was easy to get to the Santa Barbara Mission or to the pier. We especially enjoyed his dog Woody. We also enjoyed the fire pit and had S'mores! YUM!!

Hi I am Josh, I am 40 years old, grew up in Los Angeles County and moved to SB for college, and never left. I love Santa Barbara and all it has to offer. My interests include photography, music, surfing, dogs, reading, hiking, birding, gardening and generally enjoying nature.. Hosting through Airbnb has allowed me to meet some wonderful people that I hope to see again as return guests and old friends.. I try to be the best person I can be for myself, my community, my family and humanity at large by making good decisions and being aware of others needs.. I think this lends well to hosting and I am sure you will find your stay at Casa Sevilla a pleasant one. Josh
