Perfect location in the Medina - easy walk to the main square through the souks - but also far enough away from the center to be quiet in the evening. Beautiful, clean rooms and lots of space. Roof terrace is perfect for relaxing and dining and there's a great panoramic view of the city and the Atlas mountains beyond from a small upper deck. Get up at dawn and listen to the incredible sound of dozens of mosques broadcasting the call to prayer. ...and of course the friendly house-keeper serving a delicious breakfast.
Dar Ahwach is a very special place and the perfect oasis to balance the crazy and magical world of the medina. It's location is superb, it's interior beautiful and it is made all the more special by Sabbah, the housekeeper, who is just wonderful. You should definitely take the opportunity to try her home cooking. It was the best food we had and that's saying something because everything we ate in Marrakech was fantastic. I'd also highly recommend breaking out of the city for a trip with Fayssal, the driver. The time we spent with the two of them was so important in helping us to try and understand more about Marrakech than just the 'big square', the souks and the shopping - all of which will blow your mind. We stayed for 5 days and it definitely was not long enough. I feel like I've walked out of a love affair just as it began and I'm very sad to have left it behind.
Dar Ahwach is a beautiful, tranquil and dare I say it, magical Riad in the heart of the Medina.
Francois was very helpful in the build up to our trip, sending us all the info we needed and sorting out our transfer from the airport.
Sabah was lovely, very helpful and very sweet. She made us lovely breakfasts and helped with suggestions of things to do and see, without imposing on our time. She also welcomed us with a pot of tea and some pastries.
Needless to say we were sad to leave, and if we visit the city again we will definitely be in touch.

What a wonderful place to stay we couldn't have asked for somewhere more relaxing, comfortable and spacious. Also the level of interior details were a nice finish. We most of all loved the outdoor terrace which was great to soak up the sun in that time of year and just sit, read a book and unwind in that very quiet neighbourhood. The Riad was in a perfect location close to everything we needed: restaurants, markets, the main square. Our housekeeper Sabah was very welcoming and helpful and every morning we were surprised with another traditional breakfast and delicious mint tea. Also the transfer with Fayssal was very smooth and easy. We would highly recommend the Dar Ahwach Riad of Francoise and look forward to our next stay.

My husband and I stayed in this riad on our little holiday in Marrakech. We are so happy we chose this place, had amazing time!
Riad is beautiful and tranquil, located perfectly to the suke, and felt very safe. And Sabah, who takes care of the riad, is such a lovely lady. We don't speak French, but we managed to exchange a lot of fun stories over breakfast table, and it was so nice.
Francoise was very helpful too. She even sent us a document filled with very helpful information about the city before our visit.
If we are to go back to Marrakech, we are definitely staying this read again!
I have just returned from a stay at Dar Awach for my birthday.
Francoise was in contact prior to our arrival, and was very patient with organising the airport pick up seeing as my flights kept changing!
My boyfriend and I couldn't believe that we had the whole beautiful Riad to ourselves! We took advantage of the sun terrace and the pool, and luxuriated in our little haven away from the madness of the Medina.
Dar Awach is perfectly located; close to the square and the souks, and close to a few nice restaurants; you just have to get used to the maze that is the Medina; we got lost a lot on the first 2 days!
Sabah was so lovely and helpful, and made our lovely stay even better for us. She was kind and attentive, and even gave me a little birthday present which was so sweet!
One of the best meals we ate in Marrakech was the one that Sabah prepared for us, in fact it was the best chicken tagine I have ever had; I had to ask Sabah for her recipe.
We didn't actually book any trips in the end, as we loved the Riad so much, and just enjoyed relaxing there in the middle of the day when the sun was strong, in between trips to the souks and the city's other attractions.
Sabah also booked a brilliant Hammam and massage for us, which I would recommend to everyone!
I would definitely recommend this Riad for anyone who wants peace and quiet and their own space in beautiful, tranquil surroundings in one of the most busy parts of the city.
If I come back, I will definitely be booking into Dar Awach again, and will look forward to seeing Sabah again, as she just made our trip so special.
A great place to stay to experience the magic of Marrakech.
A place, where you can feel the history and tradition of the city.
The Oasis in the heart of the pulsing city life.
Thank you Francoise for sharing this beautiful Riad to others and giving us the opportunity to dive into the magic of this city. And of course best regards to Sabah, who helped us out to the greatest extent whenever we needed something.
Dar Ahwach has everything you need for a comfortable and authentic stay in Marrakech. It is located on a quiet street in the middle of the medina, making it the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle whilst staying right in the middle of the action. The Riad is very spacious, beautifully decorated, and kept in impeccable order by Sabah, who was wonderful and very helpful throughout our stay.
Francoise provided a wonderful experience at her riad. We were welcomed at the airport, driven to the riad where Sabah was waiting. She had tea and cookies and showed us around. What a beautiful home! I cant say enough about our experience and recommend it highly. The only thing I would let everyone know is that Faisel, who will take you on the excursions if you like, apparently DOES speak English. He indicated he did not.
