What a fantastic holiday! Me and my girlfriend stayed in this beautiful riad for a week and had a wonderful time. We were greeted by Sabah on arrival, who was lovely and made us a delicious mint tea and good breakfasts every morning. Was great to talk to her about her family and she made our stay very enjoyable.
The riad is stunning, just as pictured, very tastefully decorated and comfortable. Location is perfect, close enough to walk to the square/souqs and feel part of the real marrakech but down a very quiet and safe derb. We especially enjoyed spending afternoons on the roof terrace and cooling off in the plunge pool.
Françoise sent lots of information beforehand and was very helpful.
All in all, we'd thoroughly recommend staying here, thanks a lot!
We visited Marrakech this late-August, and it was one of our favourite family trips to date.
Prior to the trip, Françoise communicated efficiently, and was informative, friendly and organised.
On arrival, we were welcomed by Fayssal and Sabah, and given a tour of the authentically decorated riad, followed by a refreshing glass of mint tea.
The location was great: hidden within the labyrinth of the medina, peaceful, but near enough to the main square and Souks. The terrace and plunge pool were perfect for enjoying the late-Summer weather.
Sabah prepared delicious breakfasts, and we also tried two evening meals: vegetarian couscous and tagine, both highly recommended. Sabah really went the extra mile: she helped us with our laundry, recommended places to eat, helped us book spa treatments, organised a friend to come over to do henna, and we even met her son.
Fayssal gave us three tours: one of local Marrakech sights, and two longer trips to the Ourika valley and Essaouira. He is much more than a driver, as his local knowledge truly enhanced these trips.
We were all very sad to depart after such a lovely week!
Dear Baljyot, Sorry to have missed you...
Thank you for finding the time to post a review and to express your impression on your stay at Dar Ahwach. We are pleased that you had a wonderful time and looking forward to welcome you or your friends in a next future. Sabah and Fayssal appreciate also your nice comments.
With kind regards.
We really enjoyed our stay in Dar Ahwach for 1 week during July/August. The riad is a real peaceful escape from the busy and bustling streets of Marrakech - the sun terrace is beautiful and the air conditioning was much appreciated in the bedrooms. Sabah made us feel very welcome and her breakfasts were excellent. I would also recommend ordering an evening meal in the riad - her chicken tagine was my favorite meal of the trip. The location in Dar El Bacha was also perfect and was relaxed with some nice nightspots/restaurants close by - but only a short walk to the busy 'square' and souks. I would certainly stay at this riad again if staying in Marrakech.
Dar Ahwach is a dream. We arrived and were driven to Dar El Bacha by Fayssal, where Sabah was waiting to great us and walk us to the road, which is two minutes away. The riad is gorgeous, exactly as beautiful as in the pictures, with a bakery just around the corner for fresh bread in the mornings. The area is guarded, so it feels very safe...we never felt nervous at all. The souks are also two minutes away, which is great after a long day of haggling and shopping. Jema al Fnaa is not far away, we usually walked there in the evenings for dinner and took a horse carriage home. The highlight of the trip was Sabah and her warmth, not to mention her cooking! Definitely the best food we had for our whole trip! Her breakfasts and mint tea was always a treat. Fayssal took us for a day trip to Essaouira too, which was beautiful, a different world compared to Marrakech! We spend a week at Françoise's riad, and we are already missing it so much. The bedrooms were comfortable and the decoration of the whole riad was beautiful. What else can I say! A perfect trip.
It was a pleasure to stay at Francoise's riad! From the moment we were met by Faysal at the airport, we felt in excellent hands. Both Sabah and Faysal are such kind, pleasant people, and they really made us feel at home. (Make sure you try Sabah's excellent cooking!) Faysal took us on both "standard" and personalized trips, and we very much appreciated his services, since we don't speak much French (and no Arabic). The riad is fantastic! A true oasis in the chaos of the medina and convenient to virtually everywhere we wanted to go. Temperatures were over 40C while we were there, and it was great to be able to come back and cool down in the air-conditioned rooms. Cooler early mornings and late nights were also delightful on the rooftop -- a magnificent view of the old city. Communication with Francoise was very good as well, and I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Marrakech.
