Big Bear Retreat: Lake and Lifts!

Cabin - Entire home/apt · Vista Ln, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315, United States

The Space

Hi everyone,

I've had such good experiences with AirBNB that I decided to open my new house to the community. I live here during the week, so it is generally available Thursday through Sunday.

The neighborhood is Big Bear Lake Central, which is probably the most desirable because of its proximity to The Village, the lake, and the slopes. My neighborhood is quiet and I have wonderful neighbors who are usually up here on the weekends.

The house is nice because it is new. Many of the cabins up here were built in the 1940s, but mine was built in 1984. Because of this, everything works the way it is supposed to. Expect hot water, working light switches, and fast internet.

One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the other has two full-sized beds in a bunk configuration. The place can comfortably sleep 6 or 7, but city regulations limit me to 4 adults. There is room for two cars in the driveway, but it may be tight if my neighbors are home.

Here are some of the amenities:

Wood-burning fireplace
New furniture and appliances
Open kitchen with breakfast bar
Large front deck
Large rear deck
Lots of windows and a skylight
Barbecue
2 TVs with VCRs (no cable, but I have a decent VHS collection)
Fully-loaded kitchen (fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, hot water dispenser)
Quick walk to lake
Very quick drive to slopes
Quiet neighborhood, surrounded by pine trees

  • Cute and warm in an excellent location. You get a lot for what you pay. Perfect for a family of four wanting separation from the kids at night. Skot was friendly and prompt in communication.

  • I rented this cabin for my boyfriend's birthday and it was absolutely perfect. We loved how quaint and cozy the place was. It was the perfect escape from the city and felt like our own little home for the weekend. The kitchen had all the appliances we needed for cooking, the bed was comfy, and we even enjoyed playing the Super Nintendo. All in all a great experience and cuter than the pictures!!

  • Great, cozy cabin. Skot was super easy to get in touch with and very accommodating. The cabin was very comfortable, it has everything you could need for a weekend getaway. The fire place is a real bonus. All in all, would definitely recommend it!

  • Wonderful place to stay. It seems small but feels big. Very cozy place to stay. Would come back again. It doesn't have cable tv but who needs one when you are at Big Bear. Oh but it does have a SNES system with like 20 games. Thanks again Skot for posting up your cabin.

  • Pros: Convenient location, quite street (cabin is elevated off the street), front porch with a view, cabinet full of VHS videos for all ages (kid friendly), no smoking or pet residue, instant hot water, relatively new furnishings, bunk beds are full size so they *could* sleep up to 4 (small) kids, wifi, fishing poles provided (4).

Cons: There are 27 steps up to the cabin which can be tiring if hauling a lot of luggage or ski equipment, the parking space is on an incline which made it difficult to park since it snowed a few days earlier and was very slippery (I don't have a 4x4), there were only 2 bath towels (which weren't the cleanest) and half a roll of toilet paper. I could only find a single set of sheets which may be an issue if you're planning on staying more than a couple days, no TV in the family room (if that matters). There are 2 TVs in each bedroom but they didn't seem to receive any channels.

Skot was easy to reach and accommodating. We would definitely rent his cabin again, probably in the summer instead. Bring your own towels, sheets and paper goods and all is good.

  • Great house and great host. Skot was very responsive and available to coordinate our check in. The house was just as described, with everything we needed. There are stairs to get to the house - just something to keep in mind as you are planning your stay.

  • When we showed up, there was no running water in the cabin. Apparently it had been switched off by the water company. Skot gave me a full refund for the cabin and we luckily found another place to stay for the weekend in the area.

  • Great weekend in Big Bear at Skot's cabin. Just as described. Clean. Excellent location - close to the village. Highly recommend for anyone looking to visit Big Bear.
