Welcome to the Vermont Historic Barn, located in the heart of Morristown. The home was artfully built from historic reclaimed material from several locations in Vermont. The atmosphere provides a perfect balance of minimalism and comfort, allowing your vacation to set in immediately. We are centrally located to all major ski resorts, breweries, swimming holes, mt. biking trail, and much more! Making it an ideal place for an active vacation.

The space
Almost all the materials used to build the home were salvaged from places in Vermont, truly acknowledging the history of this beautiful state. As you continue to move through the house you will notice the artistically placed barn board.

The ceiling and trim in the mudroom was made from a covered bridge in Waterville, VT, locally known as the “The Kissing Bridge.” This bridge underwent repairs in 2018 and its boards were salvaged to use for this room.

The white bead board walls are from the original ceiling and were in the barn prior to renovating it.

The kitchen sink was made from the Vermont Soapstone Company in southern Vermont which ties in well to the bar top in the kitchen. The bar top is a slab of live-edge spalted sugar maple from Waterville, VT.

The kitchen cabinets are also made from The Kissing Bridge boards. The countertops and shelves were made from wall stud boards found in a camp on Fairfield Pond that was built with salvaged materials.

In the living room you will notice the corrugated metal ceiling. This was salvaged from the roof of the old Chittenden Cider Mill on Dorset Street in S. Burlington. The Chittenden Cider Mill was owned and operated by a father and son, Joe and Bob Chittenden. They are related to Eric Chittenden who owns Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury and they are all descendants of the first governor of Vermont.

The wooden bench in the loft is a piece of oak from a 1800s barn on our family farm. Our grandfather used the sickle on the wall when he was young to cut corn and hay. All antique decorations were found while salvaging.

The more time you spend in the home, the more your curiosity will begin to peak. From beautiful concrete floors and radiant floor heating to the unique and well-lit ambiance, this place continues to draw you in.

Each element in the home was repurposed to support the idea of innovation and integrity. Allowing an experience to be had while finding peace and comfort during your vacation in Vermont. We hope you enjoy the home as much as we have, and we hope you share with us your favorite features during your stay.

Guest access
Our entire house is available for guest use. We have a very easily accessible private driveway that can hold several vehicles. There are several locations in walking distance but traveling by car is recommended.
