Private bungalow 6 in Jurassic Park

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Carretera Las Terrenas - Sanchez, Las Terrenas, Samana, Dominican Republic

The Space

A clean private apartment, to rent, set amongst the abundance of natural beauty of Jurassic Park.

The bungalow come with a fully equipped kitchen, a double bed (if required, another bed can be arranged), a bathroom with shower, and a terrace with views of the beautiful green tropical valley and the ocean.

Jurassic Park is a magical place situated on a small hill, in a tranquil valley, 3-5 mins outside of the main town Las Terrenas.

A short stroll behind us there are two waterfalls with pools - which are extremely inviting, especially when its hot, great for cooling off and helping to make you feel at peace with the world.

We have semi controlled jungle areas which we continue to improve and make part of the attraction of being here.

There is very little light pollution (no upward facing lights) so you can view the night sky, from our open pool terrace, which are mostly spectacular all year round.

If you are a star gazer, a writer or a poet you would feel very much at home here.

We are moving towards self sufficiency and Eco tourism. We already have pure spring water and we have solar panels and soar water heaters.

We will in the future add a variety of electric vehicles for guests.

If you have children then this is a natural wonderland providing constant amazement. Indeed, visits from the local children, who are a breath of fresh air, will aid your children in understanding this environment.

To top it off we have a trampoline which is very popular with children and uncontrollably happy adults alike.

We also grow many fruits and vegetables and indeed as I write this the wife has popped out to our herb garden for some coriander.

We hope to have created a much more personal and friendly feeling.

We have a great track record of content, repeat visitors. It seems that a return visit is a must, once you have been bitten by the magic and unadulterated beauty of our little oasis.

Also for a small additional fee we now offer breakfast (typically eggs, toast, seasonal fruits, juices, vegetable and cheese empanadas and coffee in our jungle communal area. Its a great chance to discuss your days activities and learn the best places to go. Just let us know before hand.

See you soon

  • We loved to stay by Helena and Dominic! The location of the Jurassic Park is wonderful. You can enjoy the wild nature with free Wi-Fi. ;) The most beautiful beaches are only 5 minutes by car. You can go to different excursions, for example to ride and to swim in the highest waterfall in El Limon. Helena provides you with all possible information.
We plan to come back and to stay more than few days! Thanks a lot, dear Helena and Dominic! Good luck and hope see you soon!

  • Jurassic Park is awesome. It's definitely not a beachfront hotel room. But it is so much more. It's out of town, but we walked and it was very pleasant. Dominic is also always on hand to call you a trusted motorbike taxi, which are cheap and fun. The rooms are large and clean and have a small kitchen. Our room was right on the edge of the jungle. Going to sleep to the jungle noises is wonderful.

Probably the most valuable thing about staying at Jurassic Park is all of the advice Dominic gives. We had a few things planned during our stay and changed it all after talking to him. We experienced so many things that we would have never even known about. We surely go back to experience the things we did not have time for!

  • What can I say... an SURREAL place to stay!! Such a dream and a wonderful experience that my boyfriend and I enjoyed so much. Even though we were only able to stay one night, we wish we could have stayed longer and cancelled our other stays. BUT we will be back for sure next time and make sure we really take advantage of the area.

It was so much fun taking motoconchos up to Jurassic Park after we arrived on a bus. Dominic and Helena were great hosts- kindred spirits really. We were greeted with a cup of tea upon arrival and had some time to chat with Dominic and meet his adorable family. They were so helpful in responding to any questions we had before arriving, along with detailed directions on how to get there so we would not get lost. We were in awe of the area and what they have dreamed and created to give their guests a truly unique experience. We stayed in Bungalow 6 and it was just perfect, feeling like we were one with nature. The area was very well kept, room and bathroom clean, hot water for showering (even though we didn't mind not having it if there wasn't), and a lovely hammock outside to relax. It was just like the photos, but better! We did not get to use the spring pool, but just looking at it you will want to dive right in!

I would definitely recommend having Helena's breakfast. It was so fresh and even more than what I could fit in my stomach :) Nothing better than waking up in the jungle to the sound of the animals and then eating a delicious breakfast in the midst of it.

Dominic gave us some incredible spots to visit and even though we only got to see one on our adventure, Playa Bonita- no words to describe!!, we can't wait to visit the others he has found on his journey around DR to share with guests. We ended up going to a local spot to eat that he suggested for dinner the night we stayed, and it was just what we were looking for- a huge Dominican dinner of fresh cooked food shared by a company of a couple staying in another bungalow as well. Our overall experience was one we will never forget, and look forward to going back soon if not again this year!

Dom & Helena- I'm sure we will keep in touch about things to come! So glad we got to meet you all!

  • We stayed in some amazing places in the Dominican Republic but this was probably the best. Nestled in the middle of the jungle Jurassic Park is a real escape. The thatched roof huts where you stay are basic but beautiful with four poster beds carved out of local wood and a hammock on the front porch that you can swing from while being buzzed by fireflies.

There are a few comments about noise in the neighbourhood. Yes, there are some other houses in the area (you can’t see them) but we found it very quiet and relaxing.

Dominic and Helena were brilliant hosts and this is a great base for adventures into the surrounding countryside. Generous in the advice they gave us about the different trips that are available, they helped us decide where to go and did the booking for us.

Jurassic Park isn’t for everyone. If you’re in Las Terrenas for the amazing beaches nearby you’d be better off staying in town. To reach the town centre from Jurassic Park takes about 10mins on motoconcho and costs 100 pesos per person. Dominic and Helena are kind enough to call them whenever they are needed.

If, however, you fancy somewhere where you can go and switch off from the world and at the same time get to know the Dominican Republic better than just the beaches, Jurassic Park is fantastic.

A word on some of the local trips we took.

We took a fantastic trip to the El Limon waterfall. On Dominic’s recommendation we went with Santi’s ranch, which did a decent deal for horses up to the waterfall with a guide and a meal back at the restaurant. Highly recommended, the guide was patient and allowed us to stick around at the falls long enough to have the pool to ourselves.

Our trip to Los Haitises national park was less successful. Dominic set us up with a local guide called Jose but unfortunately he was absolutely useless. The day started badly with most of the morning wasted sat in his friend’s house while he was out strolling around shopping for food and petrol. The trip itself was a disaster. He took us out in a boat that was too small in waves that were too big. Without asking us or telling us he instead took us to a canal and flat farmland while pretending it was the park. To top the day off, Jose then tried to kill us all by driving us back across the bay through waves that had got even bigger. It was extremely dangerous and both my girlfriend and the French couple we were travelling with were badly shaken by the time we made it back to shore.

It’s important to say that this was in no way Dominic’s fault. The feedback he’d had from a previous group who was positive. But given the danger Jose put us in and his general incompetence through the day I would advise using a different guide.

  • Dominic and Helena were wonderful hosts: warm, helpful and very responsive. The place itself is a real travel experience - in nature, simple, surrounded by locals. We had a great stay. Highly recommended if you like your travel off the beaten path.

  • We loved Jurassic Park, we were impressed by the beauty of the surroundings and the jungle feeling. The fireflies were magical we felt like in a movie set. The bungalow was comfortable and Dominic and his wife were excellent hosts. We really enjoyed this place.

  • My girlfriend and I had an excellent experience at Jurassic Park. It a very relaxing spot just outside of Las Terrenas. I was impressed with two things in particular. The first being how nice and welcoming Dominic and Helena were. They really made us feel comfortable and helped us out with anything we needed. The second is how how clean the bungalow was. Everything from the floors and counters to the sheets on the bed were in tiptop shape. I definitely recommend this place.
