Second time staying at this flat, and would recommend it. It's a great location, not far from Old St Tube stop and tons of bars, cafes, shops and restaurants (high end like Hawksmoor Spitalfields and casual like Song Que on Kingsland Road).
James is a lovely host, excellent with communication and making special arrangements as available as to check-in and check-out times.
It looks like the pictures, nicely furnished and they always leave some little necessities (e.g., milk, tea, butter) in the fridge, which is a lovely touch. Nicely kitted out for cooking. The balcony is a lovely place to sit, very quiet.
People mention street noise; note, it's on an incredibly quiet street -- the noise comes from trucks in the morning or random people walking home from a nearby bar. I don't find it off-putting.
Will stay again and again. Cheers!
James and Peter's was a wonderful location for us! So easy to get around London from this central place. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. The place is cozy and fun. Perfect! Thank you!
We loved our stay at James's apt. It is a clean, vibrant, stylish, comfortable and well equipped place to stay. It is perfectly located for staying in London. James was a very communicative and accommodating host. Highly recommended!
I loved my stay in Shoreditch at James's airbnb! It was a delight to walk in to such a lovely modern apartment with all the comforts of home. The design, color and art created a gallery feel that made this place special! I loved the neighborhood, on the Northern Line, so easy to navigate the city. I hope to return and spend more time investigating the restaurants, art and sights of London. Thank you James for the kind welcome and wonderful lodging, it was all so appreciated!
I Had a fantastic time staying in James' flat , it is a very happy place to be. James was so lovely and understanding made me feel so very welcome. The flat was my home for two weeks and I found it a joy ! There is everything you could possibly need including a coffee machine which was freshly stocked along with milk , butter and bread in the fridge and a gift of a lovely bottle of wine . There kitchen is really well equipped and there is a washing machine and great tumble drier too . James had left a great handbook about the flat and some great local take away menus as well as great recommendations for the area all which were well used ! The bed was really comfortable and there was a wardrobe for all my clothes so I really felt at home. The only negative was unfortunately the noise at the weekend in particular , I advise ear plugs ,as the shoreditch revellers do not care for quietness during the small hours . Also the bins are collected at night which on some occasions was a sleep disruption. If you are a light sleeper or are looking for total peace I fear it is not for you , however armed with earplugs I would very highly recommend the flat and I really can't express how kind James was ! I would definitely stay again despite the noise !
Hi Laura, thank you for your kind words and I am delighted you enjoyed your stay.
I do mention in the description that the apartment is close to all the bars and restaurants in Shoreditch and that there might be a bit of noise at weekends.
The flat is on one of the quietest streets in the city but I agree if you want total peace and quiet you might want to look at apartments further out in the suburbs.
We had an excellent stay and would certainly recommend this flat to others. We appreciated the access to fun local activities and restaurants in addition to the proximity to bus routes and tube stations. Because there is activity in the area and quite a bit of construction, it might not be an ideal spot for very light sleepers. For us it was not a concern.
They are kind and thoughtful hosts whose place is exactly as described. In addition to being warm and engaging, they provide very clear instructions for anything and everything.
This flat in Shoreditch really couldn't have been more perfect for my stay in London. James made the entire experience seamless. I arrived a day late, but he was able to let my friend in ahead of me and to orient him with how everything in the flat worked. He was a real pleasure to communicate with throughout the process.
I can't recommend this place enough. It has everything a traveler can ask for... and much, much more! The bed was ultra comfy, and I felt the entire time as if I were in a luxury 5 star hotel (sans the unnecessary fuss). We felt like locals!
Thanks again James for being such a gracious, helpful host. I wish we could have met. I will surely look out for your place to be available for my next stay, so perhaps we'll be able to say hello then!
All my very best,
James was an excellent host! He responded to all queries, questions immediately! And the apt. was absolutely amazing! Exactly as shown in the photos. The neighbourhood was great and we really appreciated all of the tips left by James, as well as the lovely wine and chocolates-so nice! I agree with another reviewer's comment-I, too, want to keep James' flat a secret!! Absolutely loved our stay there and it was a great base to explore London with Old Street tube around the corner! Thanks so very much James! We are already planning our return to your place! I didn't want to leave!

There is nothing I can fault about my experience dealing with James or our stay in his comfortable apartment. He responded quickly to all my enquiries and provided comprehensive information regarding the apartment and it's location. We were especially excited to find chocolates, wine and basic supplies in the kitchen - very welcomed after a long flight.
The apartment is in a great location - so easy to get to anywhere in London from there and in walking distance from great bars and restaurants.
I will certainly be contacting James next time I'm in London.
Just got back from 2 weeks at James' flat and can't say enough good things. Part of me wanted to not leave a review in order to keep it a secret but that wouldn't be fair to anyone looking to stay in this part of London. From the fantastic communication, flexible check in (they met me at 10pm on Saturday), bottle of wine, super clean and well appointed furnishings, great recommendations, wifi and more you really couldn't ask for a better place.
I was there for work but staying at such a great place made it feel like being at home. This place is really quite big for a city apartment and feels really bright and open. When the weather is nice you can open the sliding doors and let the fresh air in.
All of the appliances are also top notch and it was very convenient having a washer and dryer in the unit.
The only word of caution is like others have said the street noise on weekend nights can be a little bothersome but its location is part of what makes this place so great. I would not let that stop me from coming back.
