About this listing
A private room in an apartment well situated in a central, yet peaceful, neighborhood of Athens.
For those who are looking for a comfortable and pleasant place to stay in Athens you are offered accommodation in an apartment conveniently situated in Ano Petralona, one of the most beautiful and central neighborhoods of Athens.
If you enjoy walking it is possible from my place to stroll around the central and historical Athens and get a very good view of it in that way. If you are not the walking type of tourist there are easy alternatives as the metro station and the trolley-bus stop are nearby.
You can easily reach the historical Philopappos hill, where Pnyx and Philopappos monument are, and wander around as there are nice paths all over the hill and also parts with panoramic views (also nice sun-sets). You can enjoy sun-bathing or reading a book lying under a tree and relaxing with the bird sounds.
After crossing the hill (15 min walk) you reach Acropolis hill, Acropolis museum and Ancient Agora, all three not to be missed sites. Other most interesting, nearby areas, which can also be reached easily on foot, are Plaka (ask the way to Anafiotika – you will be impressed), Kerameikos, Monastiraki and its Flea Market, Thisseion, Dionyssiou Areopagitou and Apostolou Pavlou pedestrian zones and Ermou Street (the main shopping street in Athens). They are all touristy places with cafes, restaurants and shops without traffic and the busy atmosphere of other places in Athens.
My apartment is in a very nice area with no high buildings, as it is not permitted due to its proximity to the historical part of Athens. It is a way to preserve the atmosphere of Athens as it used to be which is a very positive aspect for us living here.
The neighborhood is also well connected to public transport and you will find your way easily both from the port or the airport (information in my directions filed). The tram station is also easily accessible which can take you to one of the various beaches of the city.
The neighborhood of Petralona itself has plenty of restaurants, cafes and even an open-air cinema (with subtiltled movies) and has become lately an attraction pole of people from all parts of Athens who enjoy its nice, relaxing atmosphere and its various alternatives in terms of food and drinks. Since you mainly find locals in the area the quality and pricing of food is better compared to other touristy places. If you have the time to explore this historic residential area you will be amazed to see its part of the houses of stone (ta petrina) that looks like a village in the mountains and was made to house the refugees from the Anatolia coast, its many neoclassical houses, a small hidden part with narrow paths and white detached houses looking like being in a village and also its open-air grocery market every Friday.
The apartment is located 400m away from the metro station of Petralona (green line).
The house is on the 1st floor of a 3 floors building. It is bright, sunny and airy, clean and very comfortable. It provides
- one bedroom with double bed and access to a small private balcony
- fully equipped kitchen
- fully equipped bathroom
- easy parking
- hardwood flooring
- hot water 24/7
- internet access
- washing machine
- hair dryer
- clean sheets and towels
- full access to the fridge / cupboards for preparing breakfast and/or snack
- access to 150m terrace
- pets are most welcome to apartment and building
- bicycle if needed
Other Things to Note
Transfer from or to the airport upon request.
a) Smoking is not allowed in the bedroom. If you are a smoker, you can smoke in the balcony. b) NEVER leave keys in the door whether you are in the house or you check out. This way you are locking me out!! c) You are welcome to use everything you may need from the apartment as long as you take good care of it. d) Check-in and out times are left open, but always with respect to possible guests coming or leaving the same day. e) Always use the toilet bin provided for fear of clogging. Thank you!
We stayed in Athens for a short two and a half day break and Chrysa's apartment was perfect for our stay. It is well located, a nice walk to the acropolis or a short walk to a metro that is only a couple of stops to the main area. It is in a pleasant, quiet area with a lovely square nearby with some tasty restaurants which had a good atmosphere in the evening too.
The apartment itself is very comfortable. Vasillis picked us up from the airport and explained everything to us. The fridge was well stocked. The bathroom and kitchen are a little dated but perfect for our use and the shower was very good. There's a little balcony that you can sit out in and a comfortable living room if you decide to stay in!
All in all, a wonderful stay.
This was our second time staying with Chrysa, just for one night before flying home. Again, stellar experience. We walked 10 min from her place and took the metro to the airport. Her location is so central and great if you're looking to save money on transportation!
The apartment and room could not have been more lovely. It was a joy meeting Chrysa and I wish we could have stayed longer!
Chrysa was a wonderful host!! Her apartment is in a great location, walking distance from everything. The metro is a 5 min walk away and it is very easy to figure out. Chrysa's friend picked my sister and I up from the airport for a very good price, and showed us around to help us get oriented to the area. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Chrysa has been really kind and helpful from the start! She answered all our questions really quickly so we knew it was the perfect fit for us to book a room in her lovely apartment. The location is ideal, close to Petralona metro station but also to a really nice square where we could have a nice meal and finish in the ice cream shop everyday. everything is close by (Acropolis, Monasteraki, Thisseio...) either by metro, taxi or uber!
The apartment and the room are the same as what you see in the pictures and there's AC in the room (crucial with this hot Greek summer).
We did not stay that long but I'm sure if I'm coming back to Athens again I would look for Chrysa apartment as it has been the perfect option for us.
Thank you Chrysa!
Chrysa was a great host! Chrysa was excellent at coordinating details, and we appreciated how thoughtful she was about travelers' needs. She wasn't able to be there when we arrived, so she coordinated for a friend to help get us acquainted with her apartment and neighborhood. He was so wonderful at suggesting places to eat and sites to see. We loved being in a non-touristy part of Athens in order to get a better feel of the city. Her room was quiet and comfortable, and we appreciated having access to her kitchen to make coffee and breakfast.
